Manny on Recruiting and the University of Miami

Losing culture? UNC won 2 games last year, but Mack has them 2-0. Let’s stop making this entire losing culture this insurmountable mountain. Also, there have been plenty of times where Golden’s teams would hang around and not fold. The problem was that in the end that doesn’t count for anything. Part of the reason that Diaz was hired was the continuity and that we could win now and once again we come out unprepared. I would have been *****ing even if we won that game because the deficiencies are so **** glaring. We are a mess and it starts with the staff.

This is the real problem. Manny was hired to win now with this team. It was all about we are an offense away from winning. We are a hard nose, enthusiastic head coach away from winning. He canned all of Richt’s guys only to keep his boys. If he’s the guy he led us all to believe by saying he’ll make the hard decisions, he needs the guts to fire Patke and fix the special teams issues

Good, sounds like Manny is setting up a bag network.

I hope that is the reality of what’s going on behind the scenes... get a real bag game network that can compete. Maybe not move your entire family out of Hawaii to Alabama level but we will take care of Mommas rent for a year or some **** like that.

Nah.it's nothing like that.Manny and the staff got together to share ideas about how to better explain to recruits and their families how important they are for the future of the program.I was told Rumph was the 1st coach to raise his hand and share his philosophy which was to just refuse to take a NO for an answer, that was followed by a loud cheer from the rest of the staff and then they broke for lunch.

But guys Butch Barry coached pros and now he’s our offensive line coach. He’s gotta know what he’s doing regardless if he coached the bucs who was terrible last season our kids are getting coached up. We gotta stay the course with him.

From his press conference today:

* Diaz also spoke about recruiting, hinting that there are things in place to try and prevent decommitments.
“There are some things we are changing in what we’ll do to take a commitment,” Diaz said. “Not all those things are grandfathered, but what it means to be committed and a certain criteria for that to happen. There’s a criteria for what happens when you are committed that has never been in place in the past. Our recruits are aware of that now, I don’t want to get into the details. But from the inside out, if we don’t put value in something, it’s just sales. … Before you value it, I have to value it. The way we look at ourselves, current players look at ourselves, it has to come from inside this building. The next step is from our fan base and community. Part of that is not tolerating people not respecting the University of Miami, the hometown team. That’s personal to me, my staff, our players. The University of Miami is going to get back to where it needs to get back to with players that love the University of Miami.”

or for **** sakes...

win like Bama and you can talk like that...

until then, continue begging recruits to come like every other school.

We’re not where we need to be recruiting-wise but we still have the talent to run the CoRstal and beat UNC ffs. Our coaching is the bigger immediate problem bc we need to dominate our shîtty Division and we should be able to do on talent but like Joaquin said - we not doing it. The regression on defense is pretty bad and a good chunk of it is coaching. Our offense is better this year. Enos is bringing JW along.

Yep he's going to load up on underrated 3 star gems because we're in no position to be doing this to any recruit actually worth a ****.
I have no problem if he actually can spot talent but his takes as a DC leaves a lot to be desired.

I'm more concerned about the defensive calls on 3rd/4th and long, and general pass rush plan than nebulous commitment requirements. I don't care what caliber of athletes we recruit or how many stars they account for - we won't stop anyone with spot drop zone coverage on key downs.
