Lane Kiffin is realistic (info).

All of you that want lane…don’t you see? He’s a mercenary, if he does come here and has any sort of success, he WILL leave for a better job as soon as it opens. He’s proven that every place he’s gone.
It's a fair critique but I believe he would've stayed at USC until the NFL came knocking again. I think the same could apply here. He's showing that his own "quality of life" is an issue as he could've been a god in Tennessee. I don't see him leaving "blue water" for State College, PA or Columbus, Ohio or Norman, Oklahoma and he's already shown a certain level of disdain for most SEC locales- even beautiful Tuscaloosy.

Conflict of interest? No, I mean that there are plenty of red flags that might not concern an SEC school, but which the UM BOT might take issue with.

Again, I'm not against Kiffin, but consider this. Well-known nutbag Dan Mullet has interviewed with UM twice. TWICE. And failed to get an offer both times. Kiffin was available all those other times (or would have made himself available), and has yet to even be interviewed.

You know who else couldn't get an interview at UM the last couple of times? Butch. And Butch actually proved he could do a great job at UM.

I'm really not sure that Kiffin even gets a full in-person interview at UM, though he definitely has some fans on the BOT. We'll see. I'm not opposed, but I would be very surprised if it gets serious with Kiffin, let alone "he's hired". A lot of things are changing right now, I'm just convinced the BOT gets over the hump with Lane's personality/behavior.
I think the name of the game is winning or why make any changes. They need to get over the hump. This is a day in age where you can't get recruiting violations anymore. If you're not married you have carte blanche to enjoy yourself. Lane never did anything other than ***** over Tennessee. Bring him to me. Or hugh freeze or Mario. Time to stop worrying about your image as it can only improve.

This tells me three things.

1. Manny is done.

2. Mario is option 1 for Miami.

These are universally known, more or less confirms them.

3. Mario has more interest than people say and Kiffin wants to get a chance at this job. My rational is why float this if Mario isn’t interested?
Hmmm...you might be right about Mario's interest. I'd like Lane, but I'd take Mario in a New York minute.

I don't know why people keep saying Kiffin is gonna leave in 3 years. He got fired from USC and the Raiders. The only job he left was Tennessee for USC and anyone would. And getting a HC job from Bama OC to FAU is logical as well as from FAU to Ole Miss. He has lived in South Florida so i would trust he sees it as his last stop if he is indeed interested. He is never gonna overcome Bama and LSU in that west division. Just aint happening consistently.

Let’s be real, if we only have Lane for 3-4 years,
Replicating good hires like we did back then is extremely difficult and unlikely. I know a lot of lanes former players and they’re not huge fans of his, that right there is a red flag to me as well.

I am being real. So wait... your point is that we aren't going to be able to easily replace the great Lane Kiffin if we lose him after three years... but also he sucks because his former players aren't huge fans of his. LOL.

If Lane leaves for bigger pastures it will mean he crushed it here, Miami is a perennial top 10+ program again, we will have a three year track record of having shown a major financial commitment to football, and our next HC hire will be a walk in the park. We will have 10x the leverage we have now.

Again, there is information that is widely available and on-the-record, and there is other information to consider as well. It's not just about "image".

We need to make changes because we need to make changes. But we also need a strong leader to be hired as AD and as Head Football Coach.

Just look at all the dopey "if we only have Lane for 3 years" porsts. That's not what Miami is trying to hire. And I'm not saying we are trying to hire a 30-year guy either. But 3-years-to-the-NFL plans are for players, not coaches.

I like Kiffin, but he's not what we need. We need some stability. Lane is a mercenary. He'll move in a minute's notice if there is something better for Lane. If the U is really interested in upping its budget, I presume they desire someone who will bring long term stability. That's not Lane. I mean, are you not moved by the fact that the man is currently employed and supposedly lusting about this job?

Lane is a hot girlfriend. Mario is a wife.

Everyone forgets how Mario ran off on us for Bama. Plus, Oregon has been underwhelming in a weak PAC-12.

Lane has that arrogance we used to have and his offense will match the SoFl talent pool.

Unless Kiffin is playing for a raise, which why use Miami and not LSU, I don’t see a benefit in doing this. Ultimately Miami’s people and Kiffin’s people have talked and it’s being used to force Mario’s hand.

This is my thinking as well! We need to start winning again and right the ship. If he performs well for 3 years and bounces, we will be transformed and in a good position to hire the next stud HC.
