Ken Dorsey

Butch running the program and overseeing the defense. Ken Dorsey calling plays. How does that not excite any true Miami fan?

We got ex-canes all over the coaching staff right now. Do we appear well coached?

Name six.

You joking? I can't name six. But I can name the four that are on the staff now.

Kareem Brown
Hurlie Brown
Art Kehoe
Kevin Beard.

You said all over. And Kehoe last played in 1980, which doesn't count.

So even by your ridiculous arbitrary rule that Art Kehoe doesn't count, 3 out of the total 10 coaches on the staff are ex-players. 4 in reality. Thats "all over".

So that means every Miami alum is a bad coach? What about Ethenic Sands?

WhatTheHell already shattered this stupid myth about "playcalling experience."

23 of the 32 current NFL offensive coordinators were promoted from position coach to their first OC position in the league. No playcalling experience. Dorsey is on that track. But it's too big of a risk to have a first-time playcaller against Virginia and Georgia Tech?

I live in the real world. There's a group of posters that **** on every candidate. Then when you ask them for their list, they say "Chip Kelly, Gary Patterson and Mark D'Antonio. Maybe Butch if he brings Doug Meachem as his OC." It's fantasy football, and it's just as dumb as the Cristobal recruiting bro's.

Butch and Dorsey makes sense. The timing is right. Will it work? Who knows? No coach is a slam-dunk. But it fits with what we need right now.

Just because Dorsey is a cane doesn't mean he's going to have the same results as other former canes. Most of those guys have never even been anywhere else but Miami. Dorsey was a scout/assistant coach on a 10-0 team on the highest level of football. I don't know if he'll be a good OC or not, but you can't judge that he'll fail just because he's a ex-Miami guy.

And Beard has been killing it, it's not like all those guys are awful coaches. C'mon now.

Exactly.

Every position coach with ambition has to make the jump eventually.

There isn't one college OC out there that would be better qualified and would love to come to Miami who isn't Doug Meachem? We couldn't hire the Toledo OC? We couldn't hire Eddie Gran?

What about Butch and Dorsey make sense? And why does it fit? Other than "they could be had" and they're Miami guys. They aren't the most qualified.

What you're suggesting isn't any less fantastical than those other scenarios. If we put the legendary QB with the coach who has "unfinished business" we'll be on top of the college football world again.

B/C Dmoney only wants guys he knows. This way he can keep his "insider" status. Can be the only explanation as to why he jerks off to Corch Strong.

I doubt he watches much football, let alone understands the game.

How is Chip Kelly "fantasy football" when the co-owner of your website suggests that it is a real possibility?

You really are an a hole. Go root for FSU. You already said if you don't like the hire you were done with the program. Do us all a favor and disappear now. Dmoney has 80 times more credibility and knowledge than you will ever have. WOAT.

We've watched five years of a Northeast defensive abortion. Butch was part of the Miami defense that revolutionized college football, and he was part of the Dallas defense that revolutionized pro football. He used the same principles to rebuild Miami's defense into a monster. He knows what it looks like.

We've watched five years of pathetic talent evaluation. Our roster is littered with 4.9 safeties, slow receivers, crappy linemen and overstuffed linebackers. Butch is the greatest evaluator of the past 25 years. Nobody is more qualified to rebuild this roster.

Butch left the greatest team of all time for someone else to coach. Unlike John Robinson and Joe Gibbs, he has an enormous chip on his shoulder. The younger generation views him as a legend because of the U Part 2 and the litany of iconic players he sent to the pros. The timing is right.

As for Dorsey, he is a hot candidate with credibility as an NFL OC candidate. He just happens to be a Miami legend. The timing is right for him to work with a pro-style, California quarterback at his alma mater and take the next step in his career.

LOL still blaming the recruiting. We need moar recruiting right? So you can get a handout? So you can be up on the "scoop".

Most of us are here bc we want the Canes to win. Not bc we have some personal gain to be made.

In other words. Nostalgia and happy thoughts.

I don't care if Brad Kaaya starts next year for Miami. He's not a sacred cow, I'm certainly not hiring an OC partly because his background is similar. This is Disneyland bullsh!t.

As far as Butch's chip, will it help him avoid things like this:

Because IDGAF about his alleged motivation. Is he a better coach than he was the last time he was on a sideline?

Miami can recruit better, but Golden's teams had more talent than 80% of the teams they played.

The problem was that Golden was a horrible developer of talent. Made players fat, slow, and didn't maximize their skill set with ****** coaches and poor scheme.

He even sucked at setting a mentality for his teams.
