Ken Dorsey

U clowns realize that Dorsey was for all intents and purposes the OC when he played here. With the addition to NFL coaching he received and his own coaching after, Dude will prosper as an OC. High probably in the NFL but clowns say he's too much of a chance for the U. LULZ, then y'all better include Herman, Fuente, Babers, etc. and that is at HC!! Our fans are straight DBC status.

If Butch were named the HC, I'd be a bit surprised at this point if Dorsey wasn't named the OC.

I'd be interested in seeing how he did....I think he'd be solid and could push Butch to have a more wide open offense they we had last time with him...

WhatTheHell already shattered this stupid myth about "playcalling experience."

23 of the 32 current NFL offensive coordinators were promoted from position coach to their first OC position in the league. No playcalling experience. Dorsey is on that track. But it's too big of a risk to have a first-time playcaller against Virginia and Georgia Tech?

I live in the real world. There's a group of posters that **** on every candidate. Then when you ask them for their list, they say "Chip Kelly, Gary Patterson and Mark D'Antonio. Maybe Butch if he brings Doug Meachem as his OC." It's fantasy football, and it's just as dumb as the Cristobal recruiting bro's.

Butch and Dorsey makes sense. The timing is right. Will it work? Who knows? No coach is a slam-dunk. But it fits with what we need right now.

Golden Showers is nuts !!

Who do you think we are the Cowboys ?

I will take Dorsey in a NY minute.

Golden Showers is living in the past, still !

Cam Newton is such a transcendent player that he won a NC for Gene Chizik. Let that sink in. Dudes are acting like Dorsey transformed Charlie Whitehurst into a superstar.

Good debates from both sides.
Personally, I would think it would be mutually bad for Dorsey and UM football if he came here as OC.
Dorsey needs to stay in the NFL and grow his career, climb the coaching ladder and keep working for
different coaches and even systems.
Don't get me wrong, I like to see former Canes here, but they must learn their trade at some other program's
expense.
I may be in the minority, but I think it may be easier to be a first time OC at the NFL level vs college because
in the former you have the luxury of having as many assistant coaches as needed in an NFL staff.
So if you have a green coordinator, you can hire several grey-beards to work around and under him.

As for UM and Butch (if he's hired), there are alot of strong offensive coordinator candidates who are, or may
be available soon.
Chise mentions Gran who is a good one.
You have Helton at USC who is currently the interim HC, but may be looking for work soon.
You have Frank Cignetti Jr who is currently the OC with the St.Louis Rams, but may be looking for work soon.
The OC at Louisiana Tech (Tony Petersen) is another good one.
Lots of good experienced OCs out there.

Not for nothing but this is statistically Cam's worse year as a pro

Yet he is in high consideration for mvp this year. Stats aside.....Dorsey has done wonders for him, especially reading defenses and decision making.

Panthers are winning bc they have the best defense and running game in the league. Period. Cam is making good decisions in critical downs and when you combine all that, you have success. I'd be careful how much of cam's credit I give to KD.

If Cam Newton's QB coach was named Jay Fiedler, would you want him as the next OC? What if his name was Tim Couch? Or what about Kenny Kelly? Or Frank Costa?

The only way Miami should hire a first time OC, is if they hire a proven offensive guru to be the next head coach.

Im not against Ken Dorsey in any capacity but honestly I want UM to hire a coach who will play at a faster tempo, quicken the pace. Honestly, its hard watching UM games nowadays, forget get being just a mediocre team( that squanders a lot of talent or doesn't come close to getting the most out of it) it's boring. This is South Florida, there are entertainment options in this region, and college football is the entertainment business, too. UM is a beta in a Blue Ray world offensively from a philosophical standpoint

And honestly, I get the sense that Chip Kelly or his style of play/system, to me seems like a good fit for the kind of athletes Miami can consistently attract.( And honestly, Im not even sure Kelly would be interested in that job but I wouldn't mind getting the 'next' Chipper)

I want a coach who gets angry when he doesn't get half-a-hundred a game, that when Miami is up by four touchdowns demands his team get a few more. Honestly, the end of the Pitt game after they got up 29-10 was everything that is wrong with the mindset of the current staff and program. They play to run out the clock instead of attacking all 60 minutes. I understand some of this has to do with a bad Oline that cant consistently create running lanes to run clock, but then guess what, you adjust around that and let Kaaya distribute the ball a bit more on early downs.

But most of all, Miami needs a real coach. All that other stuff like recruiting can be taken care of by winning, IMO

Not for nothing but this is statistically Cam's worse year as a pro

Based on what? He has a higher rating and TD/int ratio this season than any other season he has played. On pace for 3rd most passing yards of his career, and most passing TDs of his career. On pace for about his 3rd best season on the ground. But please tell me how this is his worst season statistically.

Anyways I dont think Dorsey really has much impact at all on the player Cam Netwon is today. He is still the same guy we saw his first season in the NFL.
