Joe Brady Interested in OC Job

Kendal Briles and Tom Herman are both hard passes…

Joe Brady
Dan Mullen
Art Briles

If I’m missing somebody else not named Kendal or Herman let me know.

I can’t believe w what I’m reading In here. I need to step away from this thread.
I don't know if he would or wouldn't kill it here. Too many "perfect fits" have failed. But people forget that we were sure we were going to beat the **** out of LSU going into that game, mainly because they had a 23 year old who couldn't play at Ohio State, had an average arm, etc. The question like all hires is what portion of that TEAM success was attributed to Brady being on staff, but I can tell you with certainty it was at least a decent amount.

He’d be a great hire. Give him a QB coach who has some play calling experience and it’s even better. Since he’s a little green

these are some amazing points, and everyone on here will ignore them because brady is their savior

let's go get briles or someone who's EARNED the right to be the OC at miami, not someone who weasel'd there way up the ladder as fast as possible and fell on their face

I started off thinking you might be bringing up some valid concerns, then you went and said LSU would likely have won the title in 2019 without Burrows and that Brady "weasel'd his way up the ladder." Realize now you are just trolling. Good job, you almost got me.

brady wasn't CO-OC, he was WR coach and passing game coordinator
Fair, but this article paints a very different picture of him just getting the passing game ready leading up to that week, highlighted by the red zone being all Brady's calls. Again, I am not saying Brady or bust or what, but his resume and impact at LSU is a bit stronger than what you're giving credit for.

I'm not saying anyone could have ran that team.

What I'm saying is the following. Brady did not call plays at LSU, so you can't give him all the credit. Brady was also working with the greatest collection of talent in CFB history, so that has to be factored in.

When Brady got his first real OC gig, he failed.

There's a lot of uncertainty around Brady. I like his scheme. I like the improvements he made to the LSU offense. But the evidence on whether he is a good game-day caller is mixed. That's an honest assessment of his track record.

Stopped reading after you said this...see 2001 Canes bro!

Seriously though for the record, I think Briles would be great here as well.

I just honestly feel like he is going to end up at Ole Miss with Kiffin again. It exciting to be able to even have this conversation, and feel like we realistically will get an OC of this caliber.

I misspoke lol, arguably the greatest collection of offensive talent in CFB history*

what about this:

Frank Ponce: Co-OC and running game coordinator
Joe Brady: Co-OC and passing game coordinator and WR coach
Frank Ponce is a QBs coach by trade. You can’t have 2 guys who specialize in the passing game.

I don't disagree with your overall assessment and I love Kenny too but I think that is too risky a move on our end- not because of Kenny's potential but because fit-wise I think we can't risk a first time playcaller with Cristobal as head coach.

Mario's one knock is gameday coaching and some offensive style issues. I personally want proven coordinators around him to hopefully mitigate that one weakness. Had we hired Kiffin (and I'm absolutely not trying to start that debate) then I think a Kenny as OC hire would've been a no-brainer.

I start with Herman and Brady and work my way down from there on offense with Mario as the CEO and trench specialist.
You are probably right. It was bed time for me. How about Mullen though. I think his strengths and weaknesses pair nice with Mario.

people flying to brady's defense, nobody is saying he isn't good

but we are investing a TON OF $$ into the program. Does saban hire passing game coordinators to run his offense and give position coaches their first shot at OC? **** even didn't LSU didn't hire him for the role

I just think now's not the time to take a chance, we have $$. spend it on someone proven
I don’t think it’s as big of a risk as some are claiming it would be. It’s not a coincidence the offense improved and then fell again after he left, at LSU. Carolina is a difficult read because of the QB situation and CMC staying hurt. Personally I’d say you hire him and build a solid support staff around him.

So that talent was true Fr ? They just got there in 19? Or playing in a great system brought the talent out ? Which is it? That great talent was quit pedestrian pre Brady.

Lsu has had ELITE skill players for years. They’ve just had trash oc’s and coaches on offense. Mixed with an antiquated offense.
LSU had Landry and OBJ and still were dog ****

I wonder when people start to realize that Brady wasnt calling his offense at Carolina. With subpar QB talent.

It's not like Kenny is a crazy idea at all as I think you're right in that he's going to be an OC in the NFL faster than Brady is again.

Don Mullin would be on my list. Would swing for the fences first but he'd be on there. Not sure what his buyout entails about new employment though.

LOL at anybody sh*tting on Brady’s NFL tenure.

The league is heavily based on QB talent. If you don’t have a good QB, you will not be successful long-term.

I’m a 49ers fan. Kyle Shanahan is considered one of the top offensive minds in the NFL.

He began his tenure 1-10 with a bottom 10 offense until he got a competent QB in Garoppolo. All of a sudden, they looked like a top 5 offense and got to the Super Bowl 2 years later.

Brady had crap QB play with a bad OL and the star RB out.

Even if you want to place all the blame on him, he got to call plays against complex NFL defenses for a season and a half.

He won’t see anything like that in the ACC, especially with Venables gone.

Don’t overthink this.

Brady—not Ensminger—won the Broyles Award in 2019.

Everybody knows who the brains of that operation was.

After last season, Ensminger “retired” to an analyst role.

And people believe he was the one stirring the drink?

Do. Not. Overthink. This.
