Just because one kid makes a stupid decision African Americans don't have the ability to practice proper grammar or the other things you mentioned? I'm offended, I'm black and well educated so don't try and make generalized statements about a particular group if it isn't true....

Hard to tell...Louisiana has different legal system from other states...French civil code I think...who knows if street agent deals are subject to rescission.

UF football player J.C. Jackson arrested in connection with armed robbery
Florida Gators redshirt freshman cornerback J.C. Jackson was arrested Saturday in connection with an armed robbery and is being held in Alachua County Jail on a $150,000 bond.

According to Gainesville Police, Jackson entered the apartment of an acquaintance with two other men a little before 4 p.m. Saturday. Jackson then quickly left, the report stated, while the two other men pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the resident and two visitors.

The two male suspects made the victims get on the floor and removed their pockets. One of the suspects pressed a gun to the face of one of the victim's while demanding to know where he kept his marijuana and money.

The suspects left with $382, marijuana and two video gaming consoles, the report states, and were seen leaving in a red "Nissan” type car.

The reports states that Jackson, 19, called the apartment owner to see if he wanted to hang out and smoke marijuana. The victim identified Jackson, who later would turn himself into Alachua County Sherriff's Office to face first-degree felony charges.

He currently is being held in Alachua County Jail.

"We are aware of the news involving JC Jackson and he is currently dealing with a serious issue," Gators coach Jim McElwain said in a statement released by UF. "We don't condone any of his actions and it is not something that reflects on the expectations we have in the program. It is being handled accordingly due to the severity of his actions."

A native of Immokalee, Jackson lined up with the Gators' first-team defense during spring practices and is expected to be one of the team's rising stars.

This is not Jackson's first brush with trouble at UF.

Last Christmas Eve in Immokalee, Jackson was grazed on the eyelid by a bullet during a shooting. Jackson and two friends were in a car when someone in a passing vehicle fired a shot into the vehicle.

Also in December, Jackson, cornerback Jalen Tabor and quarterback Treon Harris were was stopped for speeding on campus. UF Police Department officers reported smelling marijuana and finding two small bags of it a storage pocket of the vehicle.

No charges were filed since none of the players was in possession of marijuana and the car did not belong to any of the three Gators.

I'm aa and please understand that conformity and proper language is absolutely necessary to succeed in American corporate environment. Their transition should begin the moment they step on campus.

Instead of screaming racism like btcane, why don't you try to articulate your point?

Simply put, what is being said is that if the kid (in this case an AA male) does not attempt and reach a certain level of conformity...he is doomed for failure in college and as an adult.

Is this or is this not a true statement?

The same thing happens to young Hispanic and white American males.

The point stands the same, regardless of the color of your skin.

So what is your "I'm not a sociologist but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night" analysis of why middle and upper class white students also commit crimes on college campuses? Do Cody and Preston from out in the suburbs not possess the ability to rationalize proper behavior either?

Isn't that a bit of a racist based generalization? "proper behavior [at] an institution of higher "learning" does not require an "AA male" to "change [his] appearance (to fit a professional/collegiate environment) or practice proper grammar," any more than a kid from South Carolina is required to lose his 'southern drawl' and/or cut his shoulder length hair when he enrolls at Yale. Ya'll dig what I mean?

You might want to think this through a little better. Having an accent or drawl doesn't preclude someone from practicing proper grammar. Anyone not practicing proper grammar will find it difficult to do well in say an "English" class, or perhaps "Composition". Ya dig?

Do statistics bother you? When someone points out verifiable statistical trends found within certain sub-groups of our population, does that make them "racist"? Wouldn't saying something to the effect of "this group of individuals is unable to do (insert example) or cannot keep themselves from doing (insert example)" be racist?

Blaming all individuals for the actions of some in the group is prejudiced right? Or is it bigoted? I'm not sure what we should be calling each other today.

Me & Paronos Courtel Jenkins work ethic is going to put him above a lot of prospects in his class. He'd be successful whereever he went because of his attitude.

Maybe if they weren't committing boat loads of crime then people would stop the generalizations you speak of. Young Black males are the most disliked group of people in this country and like it or not, it's a well deserved title. Personnel responsibility isn't high on their list.

It doesn't mean anything to me to be called a racist. I have backbone man. I love the default and deflect racist verbiage. It's the way to go when one can't argue against what I said. Young black males have become a complete disaster and people like you are their crutch and wonderful enabler by deflecting for their behavior as a group.
