Wow! We should all listen to this guy!

Not to be a **** as was your intention, but you probably should. Who knows though, as I said I have them close. Would gladly have either, but Knighton just barely ahead. One wants to be here, the other doesn't, so be it. I'm not going to ever downplay talent like many do here. That's for the soft asses that proliferate this and other fan boards.

Well then I guess we should have stopped recruiting him a long time ago. What was I thinking? I wonder how that works for the Bammers, the Klemsuns, and the Ohio Taints.

kid didnt want to play with chaney. i dont blame him. we got a stud in chaney which makes it hard to convince another great back to come with him considering Lo and Cam are still here.

Not downplaying his talent. Him and Chaney are neck and neck for me with Chaney having more upside (did you know Chaney was on a gimpy ankle all last season and severely restricted, often on a snap count, as a result?).

Just calling out your clown posture, Mel Kiper III.

If you're really elite and think you'll make it to the NFL, you won't be scared off by Chaney or anyone else. I'm happy with Chaney. This is only a loss if we really wanted to take two backs.
That’s an unrealistic position. Have you ever sat with the family as they consider which D1 school to have the football or basketball player son attend? The conversation centers on depth chart and playing pro, and those 2 factors are interrelated. And that was for my nephew who was a McDonald’s high school all American. It’s just reality and it has nothing to do with fear. Everyone in life wants the path of least resistance and athletes are no exception to human nature.

For a large majority, you're right. It's easy to generalize about human nature but recruits with bonafide P5 credentials are already in a select group from the general population. While some of them may follow the path of least resistance, others that feel that the path less followed will harden them and prepare them for challenges that are sure to come.

Do you think that some one like Darnell Washington or Justin Flowe are scared off by depth charts. Or more appropriately, if you're faced with a large pool of 3*s of roughly equal athletic capabilities, how do you separate those that "have that dog in them" from the others? Most often the distinguishing factor is between the ears.

Now compare that with the Knighton situation. With Chaney already committed, many are saying that we'll take a second back only if he's an elite RB with unique skills. If that's the case, not getting Knighton doesn't impact our class. We still address our needs. If that's not the case, if we really wanted two RBs, that's a different discussion altogether.

He’s been the more productive/utilized player in highschool but overall Chaney is the better athlete and has the higher upside imo. Both are elite backs for sure though

Exactly.

Chaney is definitely more college built and he continues to put in the crazy work.

We knew getting both was a long shot.

UM

Chaney is better then Knighton. That’s not a slight against Knighton. Cook was better than Yearby. So whereas we can be upset that Knighton didn’t come to UM, the reality is that if you were Running back you also would not attend a school to which Don Chaney was committed. And frankly your parents would tell you not to attend the same school as Chaney. Remember, every D-1 athlete football player believes he’ll make it to the NFL if he just gets his chance. That’s not happening sitting behind Don Chaney and it may not happen regardless, but people are unrealistic.
Don Chaney is the stud running back for the class of 2019. Period.
With this mentality Cam Harris wouldnt have came to Miami to sit behind Lingard and now Harris is fighting for a starting spot while Lo in injured. I just dont believe this is the case. Kid is at the most anti UM school in South Florida and legit loved FSU.

Wait a minute, your getting to deep in your feelings about UM loosing him to FSU. Knighton is an very good running back, hence why UM's gambled on going all in for Knighton and passed on 2020 RB Henry Parrish ( who then committed to PITT)

Go Canes
Um didnt pass on Parrish for Knighton they just straight up didnt want Parrish

I’m sorry for everyone who got emotionally invested in this one. I know noticemeMacho blew smoke up some of your asses so it is understandable.

Remember this for next cycle, we don’t get the elite kids from Deerfield, don’t set yourselves up for disappointment with the DB in the 21 class cause he isn’t coming either.
That guy Macho does that every year and people fall for it all the time.
