It's gonna be Jarren

It’s what he did with Rosier last year. Our passing game looked like it had training wheels on for half the season. Sadly, Rosier couldn’t hit passes consistently no matter how easy they were. If Richt can do that for Rosier, why not for a much more talented QB?

This. Rosier only ran about 20% of the offense last year. Maybe.

It’s why I laugh every time Richt talks about how well Rosier knows the O. If he knows it so well, why doesn’t he use more of it? I think he’s pumping some serious sunshine just to keep Rosier from bolting.

How exactly do we know we only used 20% of the O?

Not doubting that fact....I just haven’t seen that figure reported anywhere.

I wouldn’t put a number on it, but for long stretches last year parts of the field looked like no fly zones. Now, either Richt doesn’t believe in attacking all parts of the field, or he knew Rosiers limitations and called plays accordingly. I believe it’s the latter.

This.

If Jarren is only given six passing plays - but can put the ball in the hands of our highly skilled, very fast receivers - that's all that's needed.

Executing fewer plays with accuracy and finesse over a buttload of plays and hitting 50%. Or less.

Nothing against Williams but the mere mention of a "dumbed down" playbook makes me slightly nauseous and is just a built-in excuse for any potential failings. Then again, I probably have some sort of ptsd from Golden's bullsh!t with Kaaya and saying it wouldn't be an excuse.......until he used it as one.

A question. While watching the first several games last year, did you not find yourself asking, "Why don't they attack the middle of the field?" I sure as **** did. There is no way Rosier was being asked to run 100% of the playbook. He was asked to keep it simple and not lose games, because, well, had he tried to do more, he'd have lost us games. Games we ended up losing at the end when we needed him to do more than simply not lose a game.

I absolutely did and you might be right about them not wanting to expose Rosier. At the time I attributed it a lot to the lack of TE depth/ability. I love Herndon but his route running wasn't fantastic and we certainly seemed to use him as a bubble screen run-after-catch specialist while he was healthy.

I'm not an apologist or a detractor of any QB on the roster right now. My visceral reaction to the limiting the playbook verbiage was mainly just a horrible flashback to Alfredo's lack of accountability on the matter when he swore up and down that he wouldn't do it and wouldn't use it as an excuse with true freshman Kaaya (when it was obvious he would and did) and then absolutely used it as an excuse at the end of the year.

So we’re clear, Rosier barely held off Shirreffs for QB1. If Rosier is neck and neck with Two or more scholarship QBs, then we’re ****ed.

BS. You saw what happened when Sheriffs was under center last year. He was hot garbage. The only time Sheriffs was in talks for number 1 QB was when Testaverde Jr. was in talks to be the #1 QB.

not if you execute them well and run the ball.
Teams we played said that about our 2001 team. They often knew what play we'd run, because we didn't have a lot of variety, but what we did we did so well no one could stop it.

I hope the OP is right. I so much want for Williams (or Perry) to be the real deal and the starter for the LSU game. UM will go no further than Coastal Champ with Rosier as the QB. I appreciate what Rosier did for the Canes last year and he deserves respect for that, but he will not elevate the team to championship caliber. He fails to recognize open receivers and has accuracy issues when he does. I had hoped that Richt saw something special in Perry, but his progress seems minimal. Williams stood out this spring, especially when you consider that he is straight out of high school. All Canes fans desperately want a QB who can restore the team to elite status. Will Jarren be the answer? I sure hope so.

Listen.. that loss? It’s on me. 100% on me , I’m the head coach and I’m responsible for everything.... but Kaaya was a freshmen and we lost because of him. Also there was one extra cloud than we expected and that really threw off our defense. Speaking of clouds, did you hear about that ncaa clouds over the program?

Soooo spot on that it'd be hilarious.....if it still wasn't infuriating and sad.

my guy... you watched any of the footballville vids from spring? how bout go to the spring game? His footwork, stance and release are all behind both rosier and perry. not even close.

Yall blind *** fans. Its funny when it comes from those admin or big time posters on here. Go on youtube and compare spring vids between the QBs... hes not there yet.

I personally think they shirt him.
I guess Coach Richt and Richt Jr. are blind also cause all they have done is praise him and that even when he makes the mistake of making a bad read and throwing to the wrong side he puts the ball on the money( in the receivers hands) gtfoh Troll!!!!

Did I say Shirreffs was Joe Montana just now?

Rosier wasn’t named starter until before final scrimmage of August. He barely beat out Shirreffs. Who, according to you, barely beat out Vinny Jr.

But let’s pretend if Rosier is merely getting pushed by a guy or two this year (freshmen) that we’re in good shape.
