Is FSU Actually Good?

This is why trelle has always said Don't talk football with casual fans. I'm trying my best not to say something here. So I'll simply leave it at, you and I have a very different version of what good football is. You can't be 27 of 38 for 590 yards. three touchdowns & one interception in three games, and say someone has made a lot of big time throws this season... And if you watched Brown last season he's already shown he's a far better passer than Thomas castellanos. The dude literally has three touchdowns against East Texas A&m and that's it for his stats this season. Had an interception against Kent State that I believe was a pick six and nothing at all against Alabama. So please tell me where all these lots of great throws have been? Are you saying he threw an amazing bubble screen, an astonishing 7 yd out, what are we discussing here? Because again clearly your version of good football and mine are very different. You can't as a fan base talk **** about Emory Williams insistently and then say Thomas castellanos is a good thrower.. I don't know if you're trying to show you secretly a Florida State fan on here or you just don't know football. I'll leave it up to you which one it is.

Beat me to it. Big time throws is hilarious.

Wide open throws? Yes, big time? **** no.

We do have the perfect formula for what will be a very tough environment

Not sure how good FSU is. Not sure it matters really. Wouldn’t even be opposed to doing the unthinkable and taking the ball if we win the toss (we won’t but just saying). We are built to take the air out of a stadium
It doesn’t matter how good they are. We just have to be better, and we can be.

We haven’t played in a hostile environment yet. That’s a big variable. Nor have we played a QB like Castellano, who btw has some elite speed around him. We can’t let that track star get loose. I don’t think they have a great defense, but at home in front of a packed house defenses tend to play above their grade. They are going to make Beck beat them.

And Miami has never played from behind. They will face some adversity against fsu let’s see if they are ready

honestly they are being severely overhyped but it only helps the narrative and prop up our program so let it be

they are coached well and have better culture and norvell is a solid offensive mind, but they aren't in the same arena of us, ND, or even UF in terms of talent and physicality

Hard to tell if FSU is good or not. Offense plays nobody head up. There leading rusher is running straight jet sweeps. Defense there’s no real pass rush. I do think Ear Little is a stud. He’s been balling this year.

My guess is that they will watch the USF and Florida game film and tell Castellanos to try and eat us alive with a lot of short stuff. Castellanos won't have much time to develop long downfield stuff so Malzahn is going to try RPO and dink and dunk.

I'm just hazarding a guess that the pressure from our front four is going to make this a linebacker's game.

@JHallCanes is hitting cardio this week. Stair master heavy.

Buddy, are you talking down on "casual football fans" and also inventing pick sixes in games that you clearly didn't watch? I tried my best not to say something but it didn't even take a whole paragraph for you to sound ridiculous.

Castellanos quite literally leads the country in "Big-Time Throw Percentage" so if you are looking for big-time throws, maybe watch the games instead of reading the box scores? Or is that too "casual"?

Sure, you can argue that the stat is subjective and that the competition has been bad and those would absolutely be fair arguments.

I never said Castellanos was a good thrower, in fact I said the jury was still out on him as a passer, so I guess pick sixes aren't the only thing you are inventing out of thin air.

FSU is good…on offense. They can put up some points for sure.

BUT, I think it is almost unfair to FSU to give Hetherman 2 weeks to dissect Malzahn’s offense. Sure they will add a few wrinkles, but they will only have 1 week to get ready for our defense. And no way to get ready for Bain and company. Castellanos will likely break a few runs and make some plays because he’s good enough, but it should not be enough to score more than 20.

Barring anything unforeseen like a bye week injury, I don’t think FSU’s good will be good enough. We should put up 30.

On the other hand, going back to last season, Miami is 14-3. If Ward doesn’t sit out at halftime in the bowl game, you know we win that game, no question (meaning 15-2 for the seasons combined). Miami has been a consistent winner for two straight seasons. GT was a fluke bad game from Cam Ward. He’s entitled to one of those. Syracuse is the one game where we definitively got outplayed and outcoached.

FSU won 2 games season. After beating an average Bama team, they scrimmaged against FCS level opponents for the next two. There is something to be said for knowing how to win and being mentally prepared for a brawl and matching an opponent’s intensity week after week.

Talk to me Friday night.

Weeknight road games are weird.

And as much as we talked about rat poison here, what do you think is happening there? That team was the laughing stock of the entire sport, if not the entire SPORTING WORLD last year. Now they're great again. Those boys are walking around Tally feeling REAL good about themselves.

UVA can score points. So let's chat on Friday. No matter what happens, you'll never convince me we'll actually lose to them, but I might take notice if they win the game 45-10.

But they're a 7 point favorite, and the line hasn't budged since it was released. I don't think people are running to the window to lay 7 on FSU.

Thinking their **** don't stink, first road game, weeknight game on national TV, against a dog that can score, with everyone talking about the Miami matchup in 2 weeks. Don't get caught slippin', Mike....
FSU is delulu if they believe they are a Top 10 presently.
