Is FSU Actually Good?

On the other hand, going back to last season, Miami is 14-3. If Ward doesn’t sit out at halftime in the bowl game, you know we win that game, no question (meaning 15-2 for the seasons combined). Miami has been a consistent winner for two straight seasons. GT was a fluke bad game from Cam Ward. He’s entitled to one of those. Syracuse is the one game where we definitively got outplayed and outcoached.

FSU won 2 games season. After beating an average Bama team, they scrimmaged against FCS level opponents for the next two. There is something to be said for knowing how to win and being mentally prepared for a brawl and matching an opponent’s intensity week after week.
Serious question. Do you think Bama is better than Notre Dame or Florida? I think they are clearly better than Florida and might be a toss up with ND.

This honestly feels like the VT game in 2005. Hokies were flying high, undefeated #3 with a flashy mobile QB and we went into a night game in Blacksburg. Defense showed out and completely bottled up Marcus Vick. Took a 10-0 lead into the half and eventually 27-0 before they had a late garbage time score.

FSU is significantly better than last year. That said, I also think that people are a bit quick to crown them, especially offensively. They are beating teams without any kind of passing game. They know that Castellanos lacks the ability to beat anyone with his arm. The key for Miami will be lane/gap integrity. Use Bain and Mesidor to squeeze him in the pocket and then rely on the interior guys to finish the job. If he isn't able to extend plays, their O will bog down.

Honestly have no idea. They looked great against Bama from when they were down 7-0 to up 24-7. Who knows how much of it was them being really good and how much of a one-time benefit they gained from Bama not knowing what to expect from both their OC & DC? Like, Bama could have won that game but for the two explosive runs the FSU WR had on reverses. Gotta figure there's diminishing returns with those plays as DCs study tape.

UVA game could be a tough one if they're looking ahead to our game. Not sure UVA has enough speed on defense to stop FSU outside the tackles though.

@Lance Roffers Any plans to do a film analysis of them? I was singularly unimpressed by the linemen on both sides of the ball last season. Even Jackson whom I was super bummed when he transferred looked like Tarzan played like Jane for them (and for us). But I don't know how well their transfers are playing.

Maybe returning kids really stepped up and the transfers plugged the holes. Mario scored in the portal, so it's possible Mikie did to. But it seems like a lot to ask, to go from 2-10 and unable to play sound football to ACCCG level in 9 months.

Regarding going 2-10 and then being impressive the next season. Take a look at our defense. Last season means very little in today’s landscape.

Just watched the Bama v FSU condensed game on YT. Doesn't have all the plays but gave me key takeaways. Noles are unquestionably better than last year. They play like GT. If we don't lose contain on the RPOs and reverses (Danzy had a couple nice ones), and can bottle up Castellanos, we're going to be fine. That's what killed Bama, and we've had issues with that in the past.

Secondarily, I was shocked at how slow some of the LBs and DBs for Bama were. Once FSU made a guy miss (usually running right by them), others weren't swarming to the ball carrier and he got another 5, 10, 15, 20 yards he shouldn't have.

Bama OL for the most part handled FSU DL, but looked more big than athletic, so couldn't maintain the pocket for long which is where all the pressures came from. I am confident our OL/RBs will do better on run blocking and protect Beck better in pass pro. Bama D was caught flatfooted by Castellanos and Malzahn's triple option spread stuff. We need to maintain gap integrity and contain the QB. We do that and I think we control the game from start to finish.

If this were a Dorito, Manny, Steele, Guidry defense, I'd be scared ****less. But there is no way Mad-Eye Hetherman won't have our team prepared for the Mike & Gus clown show.

Buddy, are you talking down on "casual football fans" and also inventing pick sixes in games that you clearly didn't watch? I tried my best not to say something but it didn't even take a whole paragraph for you to sound ridiculous.

Castellanos quite literally leads the country in "Big-Time Throw Percentage" so if you are looking for big-time throws, maybe watch the games instead of reading the box scores? Or is that too "casual"?

Sure, you can argue that the stat is subjective and that the competition has been bad and those would absolutely be fair arguments.

I never said Castellanos was a good thrower, in fact I said the jury was still out on him as a passer, so I guess pick sixes aren't the only thing you are inventing out of thin air.
Nah I definitely didn't watch the game against Kent State, or whoever else the played. Like I said I believe cause that's what I thought I heard. Would love to know who's keeping stats on " BIG TIME THROWS " What makes a big time throw let alone a bunch of them? Better yet, you're absolutely right. I'm a casual fan and I don't give a **** about that semenhole trash you root for. He's amazing. There you go Thomas.

Coordinator hires were good. Malzahn is the only threat to us so long as we communicate well and spy castellanos. Problem for them is although castellanos is a better rusher than brown or bj gagway he's a far worse passer than brown and just as inconsistent as gagway. Their front 7 ain't even on the same level as ND or ufag. But they do have several explosive players. Long as we ain't complacent and remain focused on our keys we dog walk these ******* too. Them being top 10 from being unranked just by beating a **** bama squad and the girls YMCA twice is wild. But it works for us
this might be the best post of the year. LOL

Yes. I think they are actually very good. Alabama has elite analytics and they stomped them.

I would probably have FSU as the favorite being at home, not a prediction, but a betting favorite.
We will be a -2.5/-3 favorite vs FSU if they take care of business vs UVA. Higher if they choke.

Canes fan until I am dead and buried. PFF uses admittedly subjective analysis to determine big-time throws and there is no doubt that his number is inflated because East Texas A&M and Kent State are terrible.

He was a terrible passer last year and he still could be that terrible! I want to see him throw 9 picks as badly as you do, but I am just calling balls and strikes here.

Talk to me Friday night.

Weeknight road games are weird.

And as much as we talked about rat poison here, what do you think is happening there? That team was the laughing stock of the entire sport, if not the entire SPORTING WORLD last year. Now they're great again. Those boys are walking around Tally feeling REAL good about themselves.

UVA can score points. So let's chat on Friday. No matter what happens, you'll never convince me we'll actually lose to them, but I might take notice if they win the game 45-10.

But they're a 7 point favorite, and the line hasn't budged since it was released. I don't think people are running to the window to lay 7 on FSU.

Thinking their **** don't stink, first road game, weeknight game on national TV, against a dog that can score, with everyone talking about the Miami matchup in 2 weeks. Don't get caught slippin', Mike....
Love what u said but from a betting view point FSU is 4-0 against the spread so I would take the 7. The are due to not cover but just saying

Week 1 on the road and they took the moles lightly that’s all that was if they lined it again bama beats them

Idk but their fans are the most annoying fanbase ever. They are world beaters rn. Miami hasn’t beaten anyone according to them. They have the best offense in the country. Miami isn’t good cause Beck hasn’t been able to sit and rest at all. It doesn’t matter they have played **** teams since bama
