No, I know the team I grew up admiring. I understand what Butch did here. But some in our fanbase treat him like a “gawd” and have created this cult following of him...then when asked a simple question like “what has he done since then” to justify their stance that he could turn us around at age 70, they hit you with the “your too naive or young to understand what he built”. As though fans in the 90s weren’t calling for Butches head and calling him a horrible game day coach . There is absolutely no reason to believe he could turnaround this program back to what it was when he started in 95”. The CFB landscape is soo dif..so I ask once again, what has Butch done since 2000

From 2008 to 2014 – Davis was the head coach from 2007 through 2010 – no school in the ACC had more players selected in the first round than UNC
He left them full for four years after he moved on. Just like he did at Miami TWICE

What mess are we talking about here, our we talking about the mess and **** playcalling on defense? Because the last time I checked he’s been in charge of that for 4 years. So now we Have to give Diaz more time to clean up the own mess he made? Lol gtfoh

Clappy was a substitute teacher. And as he tried to insert himself - UM tanked.

The defense gave up 10 points, 7 of which were gifted to them by the refs at the end of the game.

Defense wasn’t the problem.
 
If Butch is still the coach you think he is he should be identifying,
recruiting, and developing talent to at least be competitive in his own conference. If he can't do it in the USA Conf. what makes you think he can in the ACC?

No they weren't. The core of the team that won in 2000 and 2001 were recruited under the sanctions in 1996-8. The guys that left UM under Coker in 2002-4 were recruited once Miami started it's upward trajectory in 1999-2000.

Regardless I don’t need to wear anything to know defense wasn’t the problem. They didn’t even break the 30 yard line for 3 1/2 quarters.

I’ll keep the math simple for you. We were under sanctions 95, 96 and 97. At that point players were recruited knowing sanctions and scholarship reductions were over.

A junior on the 2000 team did not play under sanctions.

No, they had about 10 a year. But they cumulatively affected the 85 man roster also. After three years of penalties we could only have 54 scholarship players. Once penalties were removed with the 25/year limit, it took several years to get back to 85. That's why he had to get creative and put redshirts on a track scholarship.

Really? Was the defense the problem on 4th and 17? Was the defense the problem on toney and hammonds big plays for touchdowns against Florida? Last I checked they were and the only reason Diaz got the job is the defense was supposed to remain elite along with the offense being fixed and neither has happened. So who’s fault is that? Go pump sunshine somewhere else bud because what we all saw this Saturday was ******* unacceptably plain and simple. There’s no defending the atrocity that was this past Saturday’s game.
