It's weird how the term law enforcement has the word force in it, but people get so bent out of shape when they use it. They are not law suggestion officers. Bottom line is, people need to obey the law and listen when a law enforcement officer is talking to them. If you are innocent, don't act guilty. Don't act like the laws don't apply to you. It's freaking common sense.

I get it, there are some bad cops out there. If I had my way they would be the first buried under the prison. This guy isn't one of them, though.

I work a great job and have access to the best lawyers in America, yet I fear for my life every time I am even in the vicinity of cops. Even when I am getting escorted by them I am on high alert. You would probably say I am "acting guilty", but in reality I am just trying to survive.

I am sure you are going to say "ohh you are over exaggerating or are being a millenial sissy". However, I have been abused multiple times throughout my life by cops. Multiple times I was beaten down for absolutely nothing.

I understand exactly where this NFL player was coming from. I am just happy he survived this altercation. He very easily could have been murdered and it would have been swept under the rug.

Like I said, I wish we could rid the world of bad cops. I know they exist, and it's a **** shame they do. I celebrate every time a racist cop gets busted and thrown in jail. Knowing some cops are like that, a very small percentage, but some, wouldn't it be best to give them NO reason to use force? Heck, I have been pulled over a lot, and my biggest fear is mistaken identity. Believe it or not, my fear came true when some white dude with a shaved head and glasses was being sought out by the police. They found me instead. I fit the description to a T. Now, had I not complied and done like this guy, they might have shot me, because I was their bad guy. With a little friendly conversation, they knew it couldn't have been me and I was free to go. Now you can say, "You're white, they wouldn't have hurt you." I disagree. If they think you are a criminal, and you act like one, it greatly increases your chances of being hurt, regardless of color.

I can say this. I am glad there are so many cameras now, because the racists bad cops can't hide anymore. Like that POS in South Carolina that shot the guy then threw his taser on the guys body to say he stole his taser. All caught on camera. The criminal cops that plant evidence on people can now be caught, as was the case recently in NW Florida. Everything is being filmed, so we all need to smile like we're on camera.

I could see why you would think it is a small percent and maybe in small suburbs it may be like that because they don't want to run the risk of assaulting a lawyer or a hedge fund manager that will get them fired, but in every city I have been in. It is not a small percent. Lying and say you smell weed in the car to search the car makes you a bad cop. I have this happen to me every single time I get pulled over. I have only been stopped once where the cop didn't "smell weed". Guess what my car never smells like weed even the ones who have never even touched weed in their life. I know this also happens to every dark skinned person I know. I guess we just happen to be getting pulled over by that small percent. If they make up a reason to pull you over " ohh you were driving to close to the dotted line" after they followed you for 5 minutes and realized you aren't going to do something that will allow them to pull you over, so they make up a reason that will be impossible to prove false in court. Bad cop. If you watch another cop illegally search a car based off the prior "probable cause" you are a bad cop. Its not just the ones that shoot people and plant drugs/guns that are the bad cops. The ones that witness them committing crimes and not doing anything about it are just as bad. I know people that live in poor white areas that get treated the same way so I don't think its a race thing at all. If anything it is a class thing. They know they can get a lot of easy arrests by just making illegal stops, making up illegal PC, then searching the car. If the person turns out to be innocent. "well who cares just act innocent and it will all be ok" If you happen to say the wrong thing to the cop you are going to get your *** beat as a best case scenario, killed or have something planted on you is the worst case scenario. You don't even necessarily have to argue with him. He may just be ****ed he isn't finding anything on you and decides to throw you a beating anyway.

And guess what happens after that occurs. People say "well he must have been acting guilty", "well he must have not been following instructions" "well I'm sure the cop had every right to do that". Then the people who have dealt with this before first hand want to stand up and say "hey maybe he wasn't in the right. Maybe the COP is the one that lying". People like to say "Ohh you support criminals?" "You are just a whiny liberal who hates cops" etc. etc.

However, it is a fools move to try that with a middle class guy because he may end up being a lawyer or friends with the mayor or something like that. You don't run that risk in poor neighborhoods.

I agree cameras are great, but they can be turned off in most(if not all) precincts whenever they want and they are not held accountable for doing that. It happens all the time where the cameras get turned off right before the "action" starts. Some cop got caught a few months ago after he turned his off, but his partner forgot to turn his off. Plus, even when they are caught on tape most of the time they are given paid suspension and let back on the force when the media schit storm blows over. Or they get "fired" to appease the masses and then they are hired by a neighboring police force. Then the very rare ones that actually get convicted usually get joke sentences. A murderer will get a 3 year manslaughter sentence when a citizen would get 25 years for the same crime.

Yeah, the thing is that doesn't work for everybody. Sometimes it's not about how you act, it's about who you are. And if you don't see that, then there's really nothing to talk about.

Absolutely. My original point was that I think this officer handled himself very well. The dude wasn't cooperating, and there was no good reason for him not to. The cop was justified in asking for ID. Once they scuffled, no jury in America was going to convict him if he shot the dude, but he avoided that. I also said that shouldn't be applauded, but it should be noted. Not all cops have that much control.

ALSO, being black/brown/poor means you're likely to get treated badly by the cops. They have a frustrating job and some of them take that out on people who don't deserve it. And while the rest of us just say mean sht when we're in a bad mood, cops often do much more.

Lol. One of the first time I literally just said "officer I have never smoked weed in my life, in fact this car is a rental(which it was) I am literally driving it off the lot. It does not smell like anything". This resulted in me getting my *** whooped with the baton. I boxed my whole life so I can take a beating, but he really beat the schit out of me lol. So now I just stfu and let him search since I know its going to end up like that anyway.

That second statement is very true, but the thing is I am sure this guy has dealt with abuse before. He clearly ingrained the "let me see your supervisor" thing in his head. However, since he is drunk he is basically using his "police survival training" very incorrectly and is actually increasing his chances of getting killed.

Guess what else is frustrating...being a pilot. But we don't make exceptions for pilots, you better still be able to land that plane in a storm with one engine out. The fact that John Q Public couldn't is what makes you a pilot and not a plumber. All we are asking is that professionals be held to the standard of professionals and not ever third guy in the street. And therein lies the problem, there are number of defenses that LEO gets that no other profession gets....a doctor can't get out of negligence claims because the sight of blood is frightening.

That's the thing about saying "just obey and everything will be fine". No matter what a cop does you can always just say the victim didn't obey. The police can literally do anything they want and most people will justify it by saying "you had it coming. I'm not sure why, but the police wouldn't have done that unless you were guilty of something."

I'm not sure why, but the police wouldn't have done that unless you were guilty of something."

This is one of the problems. A portion of the people will always take the cops side no matter what and a portion of the people will always take the criminals side no matter what. Facts don’t matter to either side (kind of like politics).

And when people do that, it just makes the other side dig in deeper creating more divide.

Very few people these days can look at something without any bias.

THE POLICE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SHOOT YOU BECAUSE YOU DON'T OBEY. THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SHOOT YOU BECAUSE YOU ARE COMMITING A CRIME.

You have to be threatening their or somebody else's life for them to shoot you.

And it has nothing to do with the vast majority being good cops. That doesn't excuse the bad ones and it doesn't give you the right to sweep the bad ones under the rug.
