I have 100% confidence in our run D this season

No. You're obviously much denser than the average CiS porster and that's saying a lot.

Averaging giving up 3.5 yards per carry only sounds good until you realize that opposing offenses averaged 3 yards to gain on 3rd downs.

If you can't take those two stats and understand why we were so terrible on 3rd downs...there's not much hope for you, kid.

Our run defense is bad but our pass defense was ***. It was either a pick or a first down on passing plays. It goes back to Manny's reckless blitzing and poor feel for the game. Manny needs to learn to sacrifice some of his aggressive nature for the betterment of the team especially on 3rd down. JUST RUSH 4 MANNY. Use some Wide 9 if you have to.

146 rushing yards given up a game is terrible. We need to cut at least 25 yards off of that average.

We gave up 121 yards rushing to MFING Bethune Cookman. (who DF knows where their rush offense is ranked)
We gave up 200 to FSU when everyone knew they were going to just run the ball. (77th in rush offense)
We gave up 265 to MFING Syracuse (70th in rush offense)
We gave up 180 to Duke (56th in rush offense)
We gave up 175 yards to a UNC who had plenty of injured O-linemen and QBs. (90th in rush offense)
We gave up 150 yards to Pitt (86th in rush offense)

So did we lose the Clemson, Wisky and Pitt games because of our Run D?

You should be worried about our pass D. It was an absolute abomination very often last year against some mediocre to poor QBs. We had a bunch of guys have their career or season best outings on us last year at QB.

43rd ranked run D at UM is not good. UM fans need to get their expectations for this defense out of the gutter.

Too much inconsistency on defense, might even be more so than the offense honestly

It's still far better than our Pass D that got lit up on the regular and was ranked 57th. **** the Wisconsin QB had 4 passing TDs (season high), so did the UVA QB, also a season high, Bryant completed 8-% of his passes against us. But our rush D was the problem according to these fools, SMH

Defense was pretty bad on third downs (73rd in the nation I believe) so they should get some of the blame. However the offense was 127th on third downs, putting the defense in some real tough situations. (especially with the punter's tendency to kick three yard punts). You can't just sit there and blame a defense for not shutting everyone down when the offense couldnt' give them five minutes to catch their breath on the bench before having to come back into the game. It's a two way street. I'd kill for the offense to make the huge jump to 73rd in the nation on third downs this year. With just a little bit more help, I believe the defense will be even better this year.

It was far better, not just 14 spots better, but teams had more rushing attempts, and yet we still gave up 3.5 per. We gave up over 11 yards per pass attempt.
