I personally think Herman would be good. But I don't know about hiring him. I would have loved to see him at Houston for 2 or 3 years. If he could turn them into a good top 20, top 15 team like urban, Brian Kelly did with their past teams, then he would be perfect. But after just one season, it makes it a very hard decision

he could be urban or he could be garbage.

this year houston's SOS is 117th.....

if they finish the next 3 weeks undefeated then i say okay. but beating louisville by 3 points isnt enough for me to crown him.

Are you crowning the man who couldn't win more than 8 games with a loaded team?

That's exactly what all the Butch or die guys are doing. They're ignoring 14 years of mediocre records in favor of a loaded roster that some other HC won with.

no im not. i actually did the mother ******* research and posted it here several times. you failed to read it.

ohio states SOS is 56th. Far better than 117th. Keep it up though.

Oh and FWIW butch has a winning percentage of 65 overall in college and 72 percent at UM. keep trolling though...

LOL at Larry Fedora and Charlie Strong being better than Herman.

Sumlin is very overrated, he's got 3 losses already this season, and will lose to LSU to finish up, and his win trajectory is actually downward from 11, to 9, to 8, to likely 8 again. That's not good at all. He's never won his division, and hasn't been close to after Manziel left. Good coach, but I'm not interested in 8 win seasons.

Shaw is a great coach, but he's one of these pound the rock, play 3-4 defense with a bunch of smart guys coaches. It's totally not what I'm interested for Miami this go around.

I like the Utah coach a ton. Briles, Gundy and Patterson already have well paid jobs at power-5 schools. Why would you leave a top 10 program in the Power-5, making a good salary, to come to a program that needs work?

You either have to find a guy who is absolutely crushing it at a lower level school, or get an NFL guy.

Wow! A 65% winning percentage! That sounds like the definition of a sure thing.

Smart dude right here. Although I'd make guys like Gundy and Patterson and few other proven P5 guys tell me no.

Butch or Herman, Herman or Butch....That's my order. I liked Herman for several years now...He's relentless....but if we don't get him, we better sure as **** get Butch or vise-versa.

fuente is 56%, strong is 63%, dan mullen is 61%, cristobro is 36%., herman (less than 1 season) is 100%.

pray tell who you feel is more of a sure thing. id say herman or butch id be happy with.

72% win percentage at Miami over six years with a loss of 31 schollys is **** good.

"Dominate" "You're the best" "Punch them in the mouth" vs "WeFense" "Cheeseburgers" "Do not rise to the occasion".

That's an awful lot of absolutes in there for no reason.

Urban or garbage? There's no middle ground? Crown him? Who is crowing him?

its a fair assumption we arent looking for the next 8-4 to 9-3 coach (which would be in between). he wouldnt be garbage but going 8-4 to 9-3 each year is garbage if you ask me (dont care how the last 10 years have went).

it is also a fair assumption that a lot of people are on his nuts after 9 games as a head coach against the softest of competition.
Understood. I think most sane fans (not many on this board) realize there is a great deal of risk with Herman. However when we get down to realistic coaching possibilities many of them are going to be unproven. He has nice pedigree and good results so far. Certainly no crown on his head though.

I like Herman's resume and think he would be an outstanding hire, but to say that unless we hire him we'll remain dormant is ridiculous. Any coach worth his salt would win big here.

Herman has not even one year as HC.

That's not salt. Tastes like salt, but it may be potassium nitrate - we don't know.

Speaking of we don't know......

We don't know what Butch would have done without sanctions at two schools. Most seem to feel he would have won scores of championships. But we really don't know. All we know is he recruited a billion NFL players, and saved us from a really dark time.
