Guys please, we gotta chill with the TVD stuff

This place has been unbearably toxic for the past week. Crazy thing is, it’s people who usually don’t post who are driving it

I don’t know how anyone can look at TVDs first pick to X and not realize he is hurt. He has never been short on a go route like that. Tells me he can’t step into his throws because of his knee.

Good post

First things first this is not me on a soapbox. I’m directing this at me and hopefully others think about it too

I’m not saying don’t criticize this kid. He’s playing miserably at the moment

But this kid is the quarterback of the team we all love and the comments making insinuations about his mental health are things we need to check ourselves on

Something is up with him. Maybe it really is that he doesn’t give a ****. Maybe he thinks it’s funny to throw INTs

I’m betting that’s not true

He’s obviously hurt. Hopefully he’s been checked for concussions and hopefully behind closed doors he’s getting the help he needs

But the thing is none of us know what’s going on and venting our frustrations on a kid that has taken the field injured about 100x we gotta watch what we say when it comes to mental health

If you’ve ever been through therapy, you know you don’t just show up and some psychologist fixes you overnight

As fans let’s not take the frustration of some parts of the season out on anyone, TVD or whoever, where we treat our players like the sick ***** we see online from other teams

Criticize appropriately but let’s not be those fans

In the gameday thread, I directed a lot of heat toward the coaches for not pulling him yesterday. I stand by that conclusion.

I also agree with everything you posted. This is why I don't theorize beyond what I see on the field, and I don't get into players' personal lives. It starts and stops on the field, and that's it.

I think he's physically hurt, and not performing the mental aspects of the game. I refuse to try to psychoanalyze. Not worth it, not productive.

@JHallCanes new to this place? Wow. He is an OG that was here long before CIS was CIS. There is a group of folks that basically established CIS when the former site collapsed under it's own arrogance.
Jhall is solid, good poster and good person. I don't agree with everything he has put out, but he is dead on on this one and I agree with him a bunch more than most posters. I'll ride with him anywhere so folks probably should put some respect in his name and posting.

IMO it's the hand injury causing him to have confidence issues that are affecting his play.
It's affecting his ability to throw so it's taking him longer to make his reads because in his mind he has to determine if he can make the throw instead of just letting it go. That delay closes the window and leads to the int's and the int's further leads to the confidence issues.
I don't think it's just the hand injury. He's had that all season. It's the other injuries from UNC...
And maybe yesterday it was a little trepidation about getting flattened again.

Absolutely it's probably and combination of all the injuries.

Pretty sure he wants to play good more than we want it. Players put their long term health on the line everytime they step on the field while we watch, *****, and moan from the safe confines of our seat. We acknowledged he is not playing well so maybe, just maybe, we can move on and try picking him up instead of kicking him while he is down.

I think that’s part of it where sometimes down the road we find out there’s more to a story

Injuries are very quiet around here and I’ve been guilty of criticism and then made to feel pretty dumb down the road

Players play like **** and they get criticized that’s part of the deal. But I question whether people are actually fans when you get so dark and personal with things

To me it just says more about the fan and them using sports to feel better about themselves but I don’t want to be a hypocrite here and analyze people that are analyzing people

There's actually been a number of psych studies done on the subject. When a fan's personal life gets to a point where they define themselves by their sports teams' success, that's when they lose sight of what's truly real.

Maybe a message from DJ Williams can change some folks tune around here.

The injuries (if they are there are not) don't clear not going through progressions and throwing into bad double coverages for picks. That is earned legit criticism of his play, again injuries or not.

Now if he is injured to the point that he can't play effectively, then that is on the coaches to pull the reigns back, cause players are going to want to play, hurt or not. They are not doing the kid a service playing him if he is truly hurt to the point where he can't play effectively.

Then that is where you have to question all of this, is this the coaches are not benching a hurt kid OR are the coaches not benching a kid that lost it for whatever reason. Either way, hopefully the coaches are doing the best for the team and this kid, no matter the reason.

We shall see.

He's not a kid!

I’ve said my opinion on his play and what I think his problem is but I agree with OP. If there’s a issue with confidence its not gonna help if the fanbase is calling him dog**** all week.

Agreed 100%

This. Criticize the play, that’s fine. But he is Cane. He’s our QB. There’s a line that fans shouldn’t cross. We don’t know what’s going on behind close doors and the things players (especially Tyler is going through). Whatever he is going through, can’t be easy. At the end of the day, we should be hoping for him to get healthy, better and back to his potential. Not guessing his portal destination

Fans always overdo it especially in 2023...that won't change.
That said, TVD has a pretty obvious confidence issue which is mental...and it's tough to watch.
But the coaches is where I place most of my ire...you actually CAN make good decisions for the betterment of the individual and team...they just aren't choosing to imo.
