Gus 240lbs?

Gus is a big back, but he has the speed and agility of a gazelle. He melds the power of Larry Czonka with the elusiveness of Walter Payton. Gus will be fun to watch this year.

Critique withheld on this one. Anyone named Gus probably should be on the heavy side and have a good rib recipe.

I think people are mistaking quickness for speed. Gus has always been fast but he is a large young man. One he gets moving he is really fast. Hopefully we can get him running down hill this year

I believe Gus will have a better year than many think. I like the idea of Gus, Yearby, and Walton running the ball. It remains to be seen whether or not they can do the other things necessary to be successful.

Gus is looking like Ron Dayne! This "weight issue" is the new crusade for the retards on this board.

I'd bet on him running a high 4.6 or low 4.7 right now at the combine if he's a legitimate 240. Even at his weight last year, a laser timed 4.5 would've been highly unlikely.

Mid 4.5's is what I think he'll run. His 10 yard split will be subpar though.

Derrick Henry of Alabama is 6'3 242 and ran a 4.5 flat at Alabama testing day.... guarantee he is a 1st or second round pick

you guys might not agree but with a great season i think Gus could go higher then Derrick Henry in the draft i don't see what the big fuss is about with that kid hes good but he lack that suddenness that allusiveness that most good NFL backs have.

The biggest problem Gus had was something everyone noticed immediately: he ran like he had a steel pole straight up his ***.
Last year he looked like he understood that running straight up is detrimental to his health and success.

Willis McGahee and probably a couple other RBs from our teams that I can't think of at the moment....Najeh Davenport before his knee injury against Ohio St....

The probability of a 6 ft + RB running a 4.51 is very rare. I just don't believe it.

Not nearly as rare as you might think, but...

For comparison's sake, Melvin Gordon ran a 4.52 at the combine...AT TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTEEN POUNDS

If Gus Edwards is ANYWHERE in that neighborhood, he's a freak.

I said when he committed that he reminded me most of Le'Veon Bell and LB ran 4.6 at the combine.

Couple other similar body types and their 40's:

Beanie Wells (6'2, 235) - 4.38
Toby Gearheart (6'0, 230) - 4.50
Brandon Jacobs (6'4, 256) - 4.56
Arian Foster (6'1, 227) - 4.68

It's not unbelievable, but it does put him in some pretty good company.

Not surprised about the weight or the speed, I just hope he worked on how he runs he ball. Kid got real high in posture running last year and didn't use that weight like the great big backs do. Very similar to Brandon Jacobs in that way (I saw his name mentioned in the thread).
