This. A lot of coaches, especially in the south have remained silent on social issues because they fear backlash from fans. I’m sure Manny has gotten some here too but a lot of these kids aren’t as stupid or blind as some fans and coaches think they are. There’s always going to be $ec bag chasers but a lot of these kids are going to question whether they want to play in a place where the coaches, alumni, student body and local residents just want them to shut up and play football like a good boy.

I would gladly play shortstop for the Yankees for far less than they’re paying the current guy. But just because I’m willing to do it for free doesn’t mean the guy who’s actually qualified to do it shouldn’t get paid. Fill a college football team with average college students who would gladly take the free athletic scholarship and see how much money your program makes.

I'd prefer the coaches to support the players. Fvck the fans. We have already established that there are plenty of racists ****s in the seats at football games. But the players matter. What good does it do to placate fans and lose the team (and games)?
