Florida State -LSU Game Thread

Are we sure? I think they could potentially get a top-choice QB in the portal given Norvell's track record and current reputation with portal players (If their HS QBs aren't any good).

Also, they have the luxury of having a good/great play-caller as HC and an effective scheme that won't go away. I wouldn't be surprised if they last.
That’s why I am thinking that they are a prime contender to land Murphy.

FSU literally looked like they had 13 players on the field every offensive drive in the 2nd half. LSU’s DC is Brad House, who is pretty good, but Norvell literally toyed with him last night. As weird as he is, he is an elite play caller and runs his offense to perfection.
Here’s a question. As you said, he’s an excellent offensive schemer. If FSU does have great success this year, does the NFL come calling?

I don’t know that. I don’t know if his scheme translates to the NFL because I don’t know the NFL. I just don’t watch it much.

1. FSU is the goods.

2. LSU did everything in the second half to help them look even better.
LSU did a lot the first half to make FSU look good. Starting with the opening drive. Five or six red zone trips and had trouble scoring. Also had Travis rattled and dropped the int. at the 10 yard line. Its not about the plays you make its about the plays you do not make. The half back pass just cant happen. LSU proved that. With that said FSU was able to over come every mistake they made. FSU is good so I have to give them credit as well.

Don't forget about all the other old *** players on their team. Most of their starters are in their 20s. It'll be interesting to see if they can actually develop the younger players they have now, or if they go portal heavy again.
Forget which thread it was in but someone pointed out that Norvell has regularly bypassed his recruited players with portal guys. Both FSU and Memphis to the point he has not really recruited and/or developed anyone. He can make a case Travis was developed but he didn’t recruit him and the guy is in his 6th year or whatever it is. You have to figure that catches up eventually both with depth and missing out on a portal target.

That game was a good example for people to see what happens when you get guys to stay around.
That offensive line was garbage for years and now has, IIRC, the most experience of any in CFB.
Same with Travis, 6th year.
FSU hitting rock bottom was what they needed, it forced guys to stay and develop and now they’re seeing the results. Bring in some guys from the portal and there you have it.
We on the other hand have been plagued with a guy having one good season and declaring, while our fans chant “NFLU”.

Our high water mark was trouncing a "top 5" Brian Kelly team. Let this be FSUs high water mark, because it was all downhill from there for us.

Would love for Miami to become a program where kids leave only to be first round picks

Jared Verse is the one that surprised me the most because he would have been a 1st round pick probably, but for the others I think with NIL is easier nowadays. Miami will benefit too (I think and hope).

We shall see, LSU did leave some points on the field with the two 4th down stops in the first half. FSU is tough, but they’re playing with a QB who’s been playing since friggin 2018, 6th season. Like someone said, long haul, let’s see how they fair starting a new guy after this year. Not too concerned about this season, let’s park this convo about two to three seasons for now. Hopefully, we can continue to gain confidence and get better each week. Our mindset sure does look different than in the past after week 1.
Ditto, we need to only be focused only on our program and its rebuild. Yes, we want to win, but hollow wins feel good only until the next loss. We are building towards consistency and that needs patience. Mario has a new and better staff. A good young class on the field and solid portal guys. Consistency and continuity to add to a solid foundation and patience. IMO, it’s the way back and winning will come and so will the kids.

I'm not a fan of Daniels as a QB at all. Travis is good but over-hyped.

But ... they both have, in spades, something that TVD lacks -- excellent mobility. How many times last nite did both use their legs for big gains? Against elite Ds, gotta have that.

Lol at FSU winning a national championship. Michigan and UGA’s defense would smother them. Bama and Penn St would likely do the same. We’ll see about Clemson, my guess is they’ll do enough to win at home.

Stop overreacting and remember lowly NC State and WF put the clamps on them last year. They are a little better, but nowhere near unstoppable.

Look, FSU is good but they have glaring holes along the OL and their secondary. They just played a team with an avg QB, no serious playmakers at WR (Nabers is not a serious WR. He's a crybaby), and no secondary. Once they play a team that can neutralize their interior DL and take advantage of those CBs, they're in trouble.

Travis struggled with LSUs pressure in the 1st half. FSU did a good job of moving him away from the pressure in the 2nd half.

Issue is, will FSU play a team that can do that? Is it Clemson? Clemson is gonna have a mean front 7 and I think Riley at OC will take advantage of FSU secondary. Is it UM? Can we win the LOS and can our WRs make plays? Can the DL get into Travis lap and make him do the dumb **** he does 3 times every game? Find out next week on Dragon Ball Z

I'd expect them to develop some. However what do you see out of them that's concerning? Lsu gave this game away and poo finally decided to take it after one **** up after another and another by LSU. I just don't get if LSU is gonna keep playing zone than why is it that the safeties or the Mike can't account for these shallow routes across the middle of the field. FSU strength is their dline. It's gonna be a **** of a match up our oline against their dline if both are healthy. Anything else doesn't concern me. Let wes spy Travis and keep James in the box for Wilson. Anything else plays into guidrys strengths.

FSU is good at it would probably be seen as a failure if they don’t make the playoffs playing the ACC, returning the roster they had + additions. This can also be true and your statement true. LSU did not look very good at all. Soft. Despite that, they still had the chances early to really jump out to a large lead and Kelly corched it up. Five early trips to the red zone for little to nothing.

Well, it doesn’t help that we have dumbass fans immediately talking about our players leaving early even before they set foot on the ******* field. That bleeds over everywhere throughout the program. That along with these idiots always talking about our coaches leaving as soon as they have a small amount of success. We got guys got Guidry leaving after the first game against a MAC team. The **** is nonsense.

Someone as unique as Travis who has multiple years in norvell’s system won’t be found. Norvell is adept at the portal but it will eventually catch up with you given how reliant he is on it for key positions. But, if he keeps winning, he’ll keep attracting good portal kids. I know our fans want Malik murphy but a team like fsu would be more appealing to him if they keep it up. So, can they be as good as they are now when Travis leaves? Probably
Not but they’ll be close if they can land a guy like Murphy in the portal.
