Jaiden Bryant is a Miami Hurricane.

The 6'4, 245 five-star DE from Columbia, South Carolina officially flipped from LSU to the Canes on Wednesday night. He is the #20 overall player in America, but as I wrote three months ago on the Bank, the staff has long valued Bryant as a top-of-the-board player:

The Canes are focused on elite players on the edge. Jaiden Bryant (Columbia, SC) might be the best player in America. He is committed to LSU but visiting the Canes on May 29th. Expect a full-court press.

Bryant was South Carolina's Co-Defensive Player of the Year, finishing his junior season with 79 tackles (23 TFL), 11 sacks, 6 FR and 1 INT. His Irmo team went 12-2 and made South Carolina’s Class AAAAA Division 2 title game.



On the track, he holds a PR of 52'1 in the shotput and also throws discus and javelin. His power has been compared to Rueben Bain, and he also has the athleticism to play offense.

Bryant visited this past weekend and told CanesInSight's Sebastian Font, “it's definitely heavy knowing Miami got two first rounders with the same coach [Jason Taylor], that’s a key piece to my recruitment.” He also praised DC Corey Hetherman: “I love the scheme — vertical upfield, my type of playstyle, my type of defense. I definitely love it.”



Bryant is Miami's 18th commit in the 2027 and its fourth five-star commit.

 

Ok I’ll say it. Anyone else think Bryant has some of that Jerome Brown vibe about him?

Anybody that had the pleasure to watch Jerome Brown's career at Miami and in Philly knows that is an extremely high bar to set.

Obviously there’s a lonnng way to go, but I said what I said. Not guaranteeing anything. Aware of the level of domination combined with the athleticism and aura with that bar. Time will tell.

In seriousness, I know I’m being a bit silly, but you can clearly see this kid is oozing with potential. How that pans out is up to the kid and God.

I'm not saying this because he's ours, he's far ahead of Jacob's technique wise. I think DJ looks more like a 5T than a twitched up edge rusher.
