Damarius Good

You’re both wrong. I was doing recruiting article thing Remember?

They got Shavers and Jerry early and kept moderate contact with him and once they felt good about Devonta they cut it. Riggs didn’t commit til Signing day and was the last to commit. We also offered him in April of that year and kept contact throughout.

Yes Ruggs commited on signing day but Bama knew way in advance where he was headed. FSU was a distant second option for him.

Thing is usually if Miami accepts a committment from a Central Florida sleeper, other schools start following and watching or just flat out offer the kid. None of that happened.
that’s not true either and Derrick Smith is a perfect example. We’re the only one to offer out of the big three.

That's the other example I was going to use. Thomas was recruited by everyone but his only solid offer was Illinois due to grades and he was going to commit to them until Miami stepped up and gave him a committable offer.

JT had plenty of solid offers after he blew up at the UA Game.

Louisville, Tennessee, Oregon, Mizzou were all pushing hard.

I’m keeping Good no matter what. He has skills you can’t teach or coach. This is the type of project Rumph has to earn his money on. Just like Jess Simpson with Jordan Miller. If you are a great coach at a big time program you have to turn athletes like these 2 into starters and/or good players at the least.

People think Saban and Urban always get 5* players. Not true. They make there reputations off taking 3* guys and making them look like they were 5*s. Eddie Jackson wasn’t a 5* and neither was Denzel Ward. Both AA players and first round talents. (Eddie would have been barring injury)

That's my point his transition to corner can not be soley given to Rumph when he was playing some corner at Texas. That's why its debatable.

he was a backup S who barely played his last 2 years at Texas.

he was never playing some CB, he wasn't playing period.

you just cant give a Miami coach any credit, so you keep making up lies

Big bodied, finally saw his speed show up on tape, and he loves contact. Really punishes kids and finishes run, which i like. I think he would be good in the striker role if cb doesn't work out for him. Take a kid like this and put him on special teams for a few years and see if he blossoms. He's not the worse take based on measurable and athletic ability alone

Not only that Charlie Strong told him to quit

Since we are not filled up on scholarships I dont mind this take at all. It is purely based on potential. You take him and you dont count him towards you numbers at the position. For example: if you want 3 corners, you take him and you still take three more. We have the room for that and this is an all or nothing prospect. if he developpes with his athletecism he will start here, if not then he will be a special teams, depth, player or worst case he is out by his redshirt junior year. We arent filled up and you never know what could happen if you bring him in and give him some time.

Is there any reason he's not seeing the field more at DB? Just too important as a point producer for them on offense?

Ya I don't understand this? I'm not saying it's a major prob...But he's the best athlete on your team...You know he's kinda raw. Let him get like 30% of stats at least at FS if not at CB. Help him and UM out.

Never say no to legit Florida playmakers. Every year there's like 5 3* stud playmakers that go to UCF, USF or OOS and we easily could've had them. Bring him in and coach him up

He looks great with the ball in his hands. I could see him thriving as a return specialist.

Ivins said the following about Good in a 247 thread while watching him in person tonight.

- Says Good is all of 6'0" and might be pushing 6'1".
- "Hardly an ounce of body fat on him."
- Good's first carry went for 21 yards, his second went for a 64-yard TD, and he later added a 32-yard TD.
- Believes it's fair to say Good is our fastest commit and has the size you want on the outside at CB.

I know he isnt highly rated, but dadgummit, every time I watch his tape, I come away thinking he looks like one of the best athletes we’ve signed at DB in a long time. Speed, quickness, explosiveness, change of direction, reasonable size. If you didn’t know how these kids were ranked and saw his film, you’d be forgiven for thinking he was a top 100 kid.
