DAILY DEBATE: Who will be Miami’s quarterback in 2026?

Oregon and SC both have their youngin’s that they’ve invested in with Moore and Longstreet. The Cal kid will be the hottest ticket item if he continues his play and we will have a proven track record with portal QBs. I’ll be tuned in to their game this weekend vs Minnesota.

They don’t play us, GT, FSU or Clemson. Kid has an opportunity to make some real $$ in 4 months although I’m sure Cal will empty their vault to keep him.

Agreed, imo it comes down to him and Bailey
 
My wildcard transfer is we circle back to Luke Moga (Oregon). He's not going to be the starter there, and I give credence to the issue @Brooklyndee mentioned here:

Doubt he'd ruffle Nickel/Coleman's feathers enough to get them to leave. He's going to get more opportunities this year, as Oregon probably gonna keep blasting teams.

To be clear, my strong preference is that we go get top 1-2 experienced QB in the portal like we have the last 2 years, but I won't discount that there will be considerations in retaining QB talent and attracting future HS QB talent present next offseason that weren't the last two.

Interesting thoughts on dawson. I think everybody is assuming he'll be gone if we end up with a great offense again and Beck goes 1st round.

If that happens, I think we'll have a hard time getting a high quality transfer. Mario is slow to hire and I'm not sure how we convince a high end QB with a lot of options to come here if he doesn't know who his OC/QB coach will be.

Just to name 3 programs off the top of my head that will start 1st or 2nd year QB’s.. I hope our coaches don’t live in their fears as so many of you seem to.

Two of these teams have won or played in a National Championship in the past four years and have earned the right to test their guy….

….the other is Florida.
 
I don’t mind the idea of a portal quarterback, but I don’t know if we will be fortunate enough to land someone on the caliber of Ward or Beck. Is there anyone with their pedigree possibly available next January? Ward might have gone pro had he been projected as a Day 2 pick, and Beck might gone pro had he not been injured.

Give Mario credit for landing both quarterbacks but there’s no guarantee anyone in that caliber available.

Ideally, a minimum two year starter who has shown a lot of promise but needs a better supporting cast or has been pushed out for the next big thing.

We could just promote Mirabel, run duo every play, and as @JHallCanes mentioned move Lofton to his natural position (let's be real all 22 positions are his natural position, so I'll amend natural for best) QB
