Really depends whether you're talking UM Career or NFL career.
For NFL Edge 1 and Gore 2. Two HOFers gotta be 1-2 for me. Clinton Portis clear cut 3rd to me. Next two would be McGahee and OJ Anderson. After them you go the more recent duo of Duke Johnson then Lamar Miller. 8-10 would be Chuck Foreman, Najeh Davenport, and Alonzo Highsmith. But like if you're going more about UM performance, you gotta include Melvin Bratton, James Jackson, Travis Homer, Damien Berry, Mark Walton, Stephen McGuire, and Greg Cooper, etc.

RB may be the position we have by far the best NFL production compared to any other program/position - which is saying something since we've been so dominant all over.. Even like USC which is known for their RBs winning heismans don't even really come close to touching us. Our top 4 (and definitely top 5) player NFL production at RB vs every other programs Totals for everyone, and we blow them out.

In UM history or to come out of UM? Because he was just better than average and sometimes great when he was here. I know injuries and all that but it was what it was.

One of the things that got Tyrone Moss to lose weight for 05 was Soldinger telling him "we aren't going to start anymore overweight backs." Referencing Gore

Skill wise, it’s not a production thing for me.

I certainly can respect the opinion even though it greatly diminishes the accomplishments of the several other people in this discussion. For me it's between Frank & edge. Personal opinion I'd take edge each and every time. But it's just a personal preference. Frank was a monster, Willis was a monster and so was Clint. Hard to hold each of them simply at their own merits when they each had very different circumstances.

Gore got unlucky with injuries here, which turned into apathy and getting fat.

Even a fat and out of shape Frank Gore showed flashes of his greatness on a very bad team.

Edge, I can’t argue. He was a monster on a depleted and sanctioned roster. For me he comes in second place. He was the guy who started the second wave of Miami program. Unfortunately, it only lasted 7-years.

Sarge told him word for word get your fat *** off my field until you get your weight right. Sarge didn't cottle anyone.

If we're just talking um you gotta throw some other bulls in the arena. Frank definitely wouldn't be in this conversation if we're just talking about college years(I thought it was as a whole) just um you gotta talk McMillan,Stewart, Zo, Bennet, Foreman,oj,Ferguson. That's off the top of my head. Probably Willis or edge as the #1 leaning edge way cause Willis really only had one year. He just snapped that one year. **** I didn't even think about Duke.

RB's that never get the love in no particular order

Stephen Mcguire
Melvin Bratton
Najeh davenport
Leonard Conley
James Stewart
Martin X Patton
Damien Berry
Cleveland Gary
Warren Williams
Larry Jones
James Jackson

Alonzo Highsmith and Lamar Miller are 2 great backs that don’t get as much love as they should either!

Lamar Miller is getting undersold in this thread. He had a solid NFL career and here at the U. Not on the level of Edge or Frank, but really really good.
My first thought when I opened this was Edge or Clint. Frank showed a lot of potential but because of his injuries the NFL got his best years. *projecting no injuries this is a Willis and Frank conversation. IMO Frank would’ve had an amazing career here and in the league and Willis would’ve had the best UM season ever and a much longer NFL career.

Gore, Edge, Melvin, Zo…favorites for various reasons but all around, Gore.

Melvin & Zo will always be the rocks, the foundation of the legacy. Tough as nails, no **** from no one, total domination and swag. Zo telling Boz “I ain’t scared of you MF” will forever be symbolize our run of championships.

It comes down to Edge or Willis for me.

And then I note that Willis had his knee turned into swiss cheese and he still got drafted in the first round three months later even though he was fully expected to miss an entire season.

That speaks volumes to me.

Still wouldn't argue against Edge though.
