DAILY DEBATE: Who is the best running back in Miami history?

Good point. He scored a lot of TDs in the league.

But his ‘02 college season was SO far above what he was able to accomplish in the league. Of course, there is a pretty good reason for that and we all know what it is. We’ll never know what his NFL career would’ve looked like without that submarine cheap shot to his knee in the desert.

He’s the for sure definition of what if. The fact he was able to even have the career he had was amazing. Both he & Gore r marvels, but I wonder where would McGahee’s #’s have been if he had either Mike Shanahan or Jim Harbaugh as his coaches. Their run schemes r elite.

Edge is up there.
OJ has to be in the top 3.

Regarding OJ, I love all the other guys mentioned but they played with a much more talented offensive line, and something called the forward pass.

The offense was OJ his senior year. He was responsible for 40% of the team yardage and scoring.
With zero passing game they knew he was coming and he still produced.

Averaged 115 ypg.
1300 yards on the season, 5.7 ypc.
Throw in (2) 100 yard kickoff returns, 32.9 yards per return, and there you have it.

I'll throw in something else...he averaged 100 ypg as a rookie for the Card's, including 200 yards and 4 TD's in his first pro game vs Dallas.
No surprise.

Frank Gore and its not close.
I certainly can respect the opinion even though it greatly diminishes the accomplishments of the several other people in this discussion. For me it's between Frank & edge. Personal opinion I'd take edge each and every time. But it's just a personal preference. Frank was a monster, Willis was a monster and so was Clint. Hard to hold each of them simply at their own merits when they each had very different circumstances.

Frank Gore and its not close.
In UM history or to come out of UM? Because he was just better than average and sometimes great when he was here. I know injuries and all that but it was what it was.

One of the things that got Tyrone Moss to lose weight for 05 was Soldinger telling him "we aren't going to start anymore overweight backs." Referencing Gore
