DAILY DEBATE: Who is the best running back in Miami history?

Edge in his peak years was his dominant a back as there was at that time. I feel like that leap is a very easy assumption to make.
Absolutely.

01 he was on pace for 1,700 yards before getting hurt at 600ish. He was actually averaging the most yards/game of his career that season at 110 which is elite (marshall faulk led the league that year at 98/game).

02 he was recovering and almost put up 1k still. But his y/a was legit like a full yard less than it was in 2000/2001 at around 3.4 y/c. 03-07 he was right back to averaging d 1,300 yards per season on 4 y/c and 88 yards/game which is still a pretty great number.

So think it's almost certain hed get 1,700 yards in 01, at least 1,500 in 02, and from 03-07 another 500 yards total easy. I think that's conservative and it'd be an additional 2,050 yards. That'd put him at 14,300 yards for his career, which would be good for 6th all time below AP, and above Curtis Martin...

And he'd probably be right there with Clinton Portis for 6th all time in career yards/game. Portis had 87.8/game, which is actually surprising tbh.

Btw That is actually Portis' argument for wanting to get in the HOF. The only guys that averaged more per game than Portis were Jim Brown, Barry Sanders, Terrell Davis (limited time), Eric ****erson, and Walter Payton! Those are elite peers. And in the top 16 at this stat, 10 are HOFers, 1 is going to be - AP, and the others are Clinton Portis (9 years) , Jonathan Taylor (only 4 years), Nick Chubb (6 years, but after this injury probably won't finish with even over 8k yards), Billy Sims (only over 5 yrs), and Arian Foster (over 8 years, but 6.1 y/g less than Portis. It's a pretty elite stat for Portis to have. Wonder if he had another 80 yards total to eclipse 10k for his career of he'd be considered far more than he is...

That's a possibility. But if you're gonna switch up how things occurred than what about taking away injuries from Willis (who without question had the best um single season)& from najeh(who pre injury was entirely different from what he came back as)& than what about the fact edge was the only back of the bunch being discussed that had no one at all with him and came in for probation all the way through iron man ball. Put edge on a stacked team where he's not the only one defenses paid attention to. He did all that with no one around him

Edge's 8 game stretch to end the 1998 season (after he fumbled a couple of times vs Vatech at the Orange Bowl) was as good as Ive seen a running back play over that period of time

Willis in 2002 was unreal, if Chud didn't keep trying to get Dorsey the Heisman, I think it's Willis McHeisman that season
