DAILY DEBATE: Who is the best running back in Miami history?

There was just something about the way Edge improved the RB room. He would gain several extra yards on every play compared to the guys before him. That’s why I put him on the pedestal. McGahee, Portis, and Gore were impressive, but less so because they followed Edge. The “eye test” on Edge was great. Never forget the UCLA game.

What a great fathers Day gift. Thanks for the memory.

Great memory, thanks
I have to be honest that I pretty much gave up on the game when we were down 38-21 and went to the gym. But there was a TV at the gym and we kept getting closer and I keep peeking at the score. And the last 5-6 minutes of the game me and every one else at a gym in Atlanta stopped working out and just watched. I can see it like it was yesterday.

Great memory, thanks

i was at the game and never saw the highlights until now. wow, butch at the end of the game was so fired up that i thought he was about ready to start crying. that was a great effing game. two heavyweights going punch for punch until the final bell. i think we were two touchdown underdogs so the win was extra special. ucal was the week after we got whooped by 60 something to donovan mcnabb at syracuse on thanksgiving.

Frank Gore might be the greatest "what if" in our history, but stop with Gore. Yes, his freshman season was insane (although let's be candid, a lot of that production was in mop up time) and he might have the best instincts and vision of any back here ever, but he was unfortunately injured too much to take that title. He never had a 1000 yard season. (I wish I could drag up posts from his last season where folks wanted him benched because he was fat and out of shape.)

It's Edge, man. To this day, I still remember the stark disparity between him and college defensive players. There was never a doubt the man would be an NFL all-timer (and he validated it).

i never saw Chuck Foreman play at UM. From 1983 to present day I’m going with EJ with CP a very close second. Edge’s all around game was crazy and he didn’t have great OL’s. That being said I think he ran for 150+ his last 5gamres. He was a machine. Not sure what Ditka was looking at when he took Ricky Williams. CP ALWAYS produced. The loss to Washington, CP enters game and points. I was at the BC game in 2000 and the whole place knew he was getting the ball on 3 & long more than once and CP picked up the first.

I happen to be a HUGE James Jackson fan. If he played behind the 2000 line home runs left and right. #21 is a Canes great!

My $0.02.

Go Canes!

I saw the Great Chuck Foreman. He was the S#$#! He would be great in any era. However, Edge simply was a Beast!! He is the greatest to play the position at the U!

I think too many overthought the question.

EJ. It’s a simple answer.

Tons of talented backs. We all have our backs we loved. They take us back. I loved Gary, Conley, Bratton, Highsmith, McGuire, Gore & McGehee. OJ & Chuck I’d take them any day. Loved Larry Jones. EJ was the best of them all.
