Are you able to name any of those key donors? I don't doubt it but it'd be interesting to put some names and faces to those in Butch's camp. I'm also glad we're not hearing the same monied support for Mario.

I really have to disagree with this. In my opinion, hiring Butch is a long shot for some very solid reasons. 1 - some bad stuff went down on his watch at UNC. The NCAA has cleared him on the academic fraud stuff, but the Blake stuff is very problematic, especially in light of what we went through with the NCAA. 2 - he hasnt coached in 5 years. Why hasnt he even sniffed a head coaching job in that time? And please dont say he has turned anything down because he is waiting for the Miami job.
 
Being that Beard was one of Butch's players, and WR play has improved significantly in the last year. I'd have to imagine he'd at least have an opportunity to interview for his current position.
 
Not that big of deal to lose Larry Scott imo

Honestly we don't have to keep anyone if we're talking major upgrades.

Just because we're not hearing it doesn't mean that there is no support for Mario among some key donors. In another thread D$ did say that Mario will get consideration for the job. That's what scares me. I just do not trust this administration to make a competent hiring decision.

It also sounded like Butch is going to be the figure head/CEO but the coordinators and coaches will really be running the show which sounds good assuming the right coaches are hired. Just passing this along.

I received this same news from someone who's name will remain undisclosed. I was told Butch was already hired and the announcement will be made following the Pitt game..

So if these people know, wby havent the people who are professionals and break stories for a living, said anything? I am sure those professionals must know someone people at UM as well.

Just because we're not hearing it doesn't mean that there is no support for Mario among some key donors. In another thread D$ did say that Mario will get consideration for the job. That's what scares me. I just do not trust this administration to make a competent hiring decision.

Agreed. I think freakin' Mario will get a serious look because he'll seem like an obvious candidate to the admin. I was just hoping that belief isn't reinforced by the key money people as well.

At this point how much of a real possibility do you think Mario is? That's one of the potential hires that scares the living crap out of me.

D excuse me if you have already answered this.
Do you have any info on the time table and how the process will run.
Is it going to be a search committee ? If so when is that being formed now? Who would be on it ?
Obviously employed coaches wil wait to the end of the season to formally interview.
Just want to get a sense of what's going on now.

Agree.

Butch may hire some young, aggressive coordinators and coaches, but you can bet your a$$ that he'll be running the show.
 
It depends on who the new coach is.

If it's, Butch, I predict he'll be able to keep who he wants out of the current commits (and recent decommits).

I'll also say that there will be some high profile players from the state that decommit from other schools and commit to Miami.

We'll also get involved in some big-time DL across the country - especially DTs. And I think we'll sign at least 1 big-time DT in this class (if it's Butch)....
