Cristobal AD search news

Guys are just having PTSD over how fast an unqualified CMD was hired. I get it, but this is WAY WAY different fellas....take note above as it was just spelled out and can't be broken down anymore than that.
Thank god some get it. It’s like saying fishing off a dock for grunts and fishing for Marlin is the same thing, just fishing. In Manny’s case, merely being the HC at Miami was enough and Miami could get him cheap and not have to really do much else. He was happy to be there. Mario wants to be the HC at Miami, but that’s just a small part at this point. The swivel on the bait if you will. He won’t come here unless there’s a legitimate plan to take Miami to the heights he was a part of as a player in modern day CFB. He’s also not a grunt like Manny.

If anything, we’ve been evaluating Mario for many years on whether or not he should be our guy and ultimately gave someone with much lesser football pedigree, lesser coaching pedigree, and a MUCH lesser recruiting pedigree the opportunity. We’ve passed on Mario a few times while also watching him succeed at other places in different roles. He has interviewed for the job both directly and indirectly at this point.

Unless it’s an in-house guy, you’re absolutely talking before any deal is consummated. It may not be an interview, as that term is commonly defined, but the school is going to talk to the candidate directly before it makes a binding commitment. Not everything is through the representation.

I having shocking news for everyone but the big programs have their guy they chase first. They have a coach in mind if he wants the job it’s over. Day was the choice at Osu, Meyer before that. Jimbo was the plan A at AM. Harbaugh at Michigan. This whole myth over interviewing guys is false, when you start having interviews your plan A’s likely said no. If Lincoln Riley wants the Lsu job he won’t interview lol.
Jimbo to A&M was in motion before his final season at FSU started. I’m sure they have an idea of which of there top candidates have real interests

LeBatard mentioned Jim Frevola, currently with the Vegas Golden Knights (NHL) as Team SVP & Sales Officer as a potential AD candidate.

Used to be with the Tampa Bay Bucs. Also was at UFC with Dana White as their VP of Marketing Partnerships.

Also was at Lincoln Financial Media responsible for media sales at radio stations for the Miami Heat, Cleveland Browns, Dolphins & Marlins.

He graduated from the University of Miami and worked at UM as an associate AD from 2007-2010.
We hire him and I'm out. The Butch Barry of ADs.

We like to always point out that Mario drops a game he shouldn't every year. But when you look at the landscape of CFB, take Saban out of the equation, look at your next tier:

Jimbo: Seems to be stalling at around 8/9 wins at A&M
Dabo: Took a MASSIVE step back in terms of being an elite coach. He's sitting on by far the most talent in arguably the worst conference (hi Pac 12). Yet he'll finish midway through in his division. If I'm a recruit, I want to see what you do when you don't have a bonafide 1st round QB, and Dabo laid an egg with no stud QB walking through his doors yet.
Kirby: May actually win a title with UGA, but still hasn't won there yet and he's been gifted recruits at a high clip every cycle.
Day: Meyer's recruits are starting to file out and it's his team, he lost to Oregon at home and they don't look like they'd beat Bama or UGA this year.

After that, I think Mario enters into the next tier.
Have been preaching to friends that Day will not be able to replicate the defensive talent that he inherited in future years (be it recruiting, coaching or both); a storyline I like to drum up when anyone says something positive about those ****s fwiw.

I don’t think it’s money. I think the biggest impediment is a run at the title this year. If he loses one more game they’re out of the playoff race. He’s gonna have to beat Utah twice most likely, both on the road. Miami will have to move immediately after the Pac12 CG and could get him with two weeks to go before the early signing period. If Mario is the guy, that’s the ideal situation. But i think we’ll know by the first week of December if he’s our guy.
Game v Utah this week will be big

His mom was recently in the hospital. Having a procedure, not sure of what for (elective or needed). Mario was here for it, had a friend tracking flights from there to here. A private plan came in during that time. I want to say it was after the Michigan State game.

Josh Pate on 247 was just talking about Miami and Cristobal. He said that when Miami folks say that money won't be an option they are talking mainly about coaching salaries. He says that Oregon's commitment to Mario is much bigger than that. Phil Knight and the AD give him everything that he asks for. When he asked for access to private jets for his entire staff, they gave it to him. He thinks that there is no way that UM can match all of the benefits provided by Oregon.

Won’t need as many private jets when the recruits live 5 miles from the crib

Which is why matching all that is really our only option. We've all spent two decades here trying to get the school to hire an X and Os advantage because thats what the school needed to succeed. It's probably why I like Kiffin more than Mario even now, because I want a tactical edge no matter what. We've had 5 tries to get that right, failing miserably. Kiffin would work, but we've faded to far for a flash of competitive spirit to matter for long. We need to subvert expectations to maintain, let alone rebuild, our national brand, and short term success won't be viewed as turning a corner.

Now it's going to something like a quarter of billion this decade not just to catch up, but to make sure they know we're serious. Tom Jurich (or equivalent) + Stadium announcement would be a logical first step.

I know you are somewhat joking but the offensive linemen that we need for us to truly be competitive the way we want to be, they ain't in Miami lol.

Pate is one of the most objective talking heads out there. Until we prove him and pretty much everyone else wrong, I’m in the same boat as him. Until we show we are willing to actually spend all of this money that we supposedly have & keep talking about, it’s just that...talk.

I am. I’ll believe this when I see it. That said, those big O Linemen aren’t in Oregon either. So if they get jet access, mirobal would still travel but get to live in Miami over Eugene. If the guys DMoney mentioned earlier are involved I doubt jet access will be a concern. But again, I’m trying not to get too excited.

Homecoming soon

O **** He coming

Look at that passion for Miami.

He’s glowing Talking about his Cuban roots in Miami.

And your telling me he’s going to turn down the opportunity to lead us back to the promise land to stay in ****** Oregon

If they lose 1 more game and don’t make the playoffs this year, he’s ours
