difference is at least Mario has been a semi-sucessful HC whereas manny was a mediocre DC that hadn't even coached an optimist team...Not doing a complete search and putting all your eggs in to Mario is the exact scenario how we got Manny
Comparing Mario to Manny is a bad example of your theory. Manny never won anything. Mario is on the cusp of making the CFP. He’s not going to be involved in a national search. Offer him the job straight away or don’t be offended when he tells us to F off for feeling disrespected yet again. Not doing a complete search and putting all your eggs in to Mario is the exact scenario how we got Manny
I'd love to know what conversations the Oregon brass are having with Cristobal right now.I gotta believe Mario through his agent has already been asked and we are already aware of what their decision will be. With this quick turnaround before ESD Mario knows if he's coming he can't fck around trying to make his mind up. I also think he cares enough about the program that he will let them know upfront that there's no chance of him coming so they can look elsewhere.
He will have about 2 weeks to save what he can of this class and try and get some kids added to it.He's not gonna be able to sit around for 2-3 weeks thinking about it.
Also think that Miami has been given all the parameters they need to make to get him here if there is a chance he comes and they have been ok'd.If Miami is putting all their eggs in the Mario Basket without knowing what he will do they are no stupider than they were before especially with so many jobs opening up already with more to come and we will end up getting our 3rd or 4th ( or 9th ) choice.
I just find it hard to believe that none of this has already been discussed as far as Mario goes and that Miami doesn't already have their answer.I guess we will be able to know right away if the search immediately turns to someone else.
Oh, Dan admitted that it’s his biased opinion because they are friends.Mike Ryan is absolutely not a Luigi cultist so I do think he's credible when he talks about the chances of getting him.
I kinda remember Jim Frevola being a friend of Lebatard's so I don't know how much homecookin' spin is going on there.
Who’s saying “ all the eggs “? To say that would mean they don’t have a backup plan. Not doing a complete search and putting all your eggs in to Mario is the exact scenario how we got Manny
He's going to lose 1 of those gamesI don’t think it’s money. I think the biggest impediment is a run at the title this year. If he loses one more game they’re out of the playoff race. He’s gonna have to beat Utah twice most likely, both on the road. Miami will have to move immediately after the Pac12 CG and could get him with two weeks to go before the early signing period. If Mario is the guy, that’s the ideal situation. But i think we’ll know by the first week of December if he’s our guy.
I think the point I and others are making is that having a plan A as in making Mario say no first is the problem. Evaluate all, create a list and go from there. And if it turns out Mario doesn't like that you're actually going through a reasonable process tell him to take care and enjoy his time in Eugene.Who’s saying “ all the eggs “? To say that would mean they don’t have a backup plan.
A lot will depend on the Pac 12 championship game. If the Oregon AD has half a working brain cell, they already know where this is headed and have negotiated buyout and conditions with Mario to encourage a CFP run.I gotta believe Mario through his agent has already been asked and we are already aware of what their decision will be. With this quick turnaround before ESD Mario knows if he's coming he can't fck around trying to make his mind up. Cool. At least he's transparent about it. Gonna listen to the segment now.Oh, Dan admitted that it’s his biased opinion because they are friends.
They have signed up here at ColumbusInsight.com for all the pro-Mario news…I'd love to know what conversations the Oregon brass are having with Cristobal right now.
Surely you'd be asking for reassurances that the smoke coming from Coral Gables is without merit, right?
Think you're reading it incorrectly. Zo might be an actual candidate for AD .. IF he were to hire an elite staff of Assistant AD's with experience in all aspects not directly related to football. Nobody is considering hiring Alonzo as the GM of Football Operations .. then hiring an AD.This Alonzo stuff isn’t what I like hearing. Has this school learned anything? So we are going to hire zo to oversee football then go out and hire an AD who is okay with that? Why can’t this program do its due diligence and get out of it’s own way? We are still running things like a country club. It’s a game of who with the most ties can get a job here. It’s honestly tiresome. Go out and actually do a national search. Stop making these decisions based on peers and connections. We just do things the totally wrong way.
Why, Fin? Anytime you hire a coach in any sport, you have a #1 target that you want to say yes and if they say no then you move on.I think the point I and others are making is that having a plan A as in making Mario say no first is the problem. Evaluate all, create a list and go from there. And if it turns out Mario doesn't like that you're actually going through a reasonable process tell him to take care and enjoy his time in Eugene.
If we could get some here to admit the bias, it may make some of these discussions a little bit easier…Cool. At least he's transparent about it. Gonna listen to the segment now.
