The NCAA needs to take some of their billions and provide insurance for all these dudes for bowl games.
Honestly, if these players are really that concerned about injury risk, some of them should not have played at all this year. Fournette was likely the first or second running back to be drafted regardless of what he did this year. Why even bother to suit up at all this season?
This is the reason they have insurance policies. McCaffrey's policy pays him $5 million UNTAXED dollars should he sustain a career ending injury. It will also pay him $3 million if an injury causes him to drop past the 40th overall pick in the draft. These are lump sums. Not NFL contracts which don't actually pay out anywhere near their total value and are taxed. It could be argued that Christian McCaffrey may not ever net $5 million over his NFL career.
Now this is a much more interesting point than arguments with key words "tough", "real man", "loyalty" etc.
Because if he got hurt during his first NFL contract or worse, becomes a bust in his first NFL contract he coukd make less than his insurance payout. I heard the guy last year got 900,000 so that isna signifigant difference.
I'd say the guy who only took out a $900K policy vastly underestimated his draft stock. Most of these policies don't require money up front so it's not like you have to have money in the first place to insure yourself.
The replies from the 2 trolls pretty much displays the point. Teen tough guy troll mentality who want to fantasize how much tougher and real men they are than these athletes.
Take your L and move on.
all these replies and nothing addressing topic. I see how u trolls spam that post count.
These are the same types of guys that retire when they are 28 years old and say that they don't want to keep doing damage to their bodies. You think they really care about winning? How many Super Bowls did Megatron win? They want to get that pay day and go on their way.
I guarantee Fournette retires from the NFL before he turns 30.
Actually those are the smart ones. Once you have enough money to live on the rest of your life why ***** your brain up anymore ant risk an early demise.
Well once upon a time, guys cared about their teammates and winning Championships. Ronnie Lott had his **** finger chopped off so he didn't miss an extended period of time and hurt his team. Good thing other professions don't operate like this. Would suck if your heart surgeon walked out in the middle of your triple bypass because he felt like he had already made enough money for the day.

Well, if we are talking about commitment - then if a player commits to a University, he should stick for 4 years. Commitment to a team doesn't end at the end of the season. Players leaving early for the draft shows a lack of commitment to his teammates. Players that do that are worse than a guy who doesn't want to play in a meaningless bowl game, yet I don't hear people bashing Njoku and Kaaya for quitting on their teammates when we could be in the national discussion next year.

Lol. Fornette played his heart out it looked to me every time he touched the field. Any teammate that cares for him would understand his desicion.
I am sure if that heart surgeon can make more money elsewhere, he will quit and go were it is best for him and his family
mark richt can speak on this because he hasnt bounced on his players yet
people like saban, tom herman, ect cant speak on this
i give runnning backs a whole difffrent outlook on it as well where i say i understand ESPECIALLY if its a meaningless bowl game december 29th or earlier
So if during the season, you play a meaningless Division 2 game, you hold yourself out??? Really?? They call it a season for a reason...
I dont think its the same thing. And technically the bowl games are post season. After season.
If Kaaya is going pro, I hope he skips the bowl game.
Any time an elite talent leaves early, they are not replaced in one season. Filling the depth chart and developing chemistry is done over years. Basically, these guys not playing in bowl games just reinforces that these bowl games are ****ing meaningless.
What was sad was when Mark Richt skipped those important 4 games in October with his play calling.

I admit, i have no idea how these insurance policies work. Ive heard the schools help with some, the players families pay for some. How would they get insurance that u dont have to pay for? Do they offer auto insurance? lol
