Charlie Strong

Some other names to watch this year are Justin Fuente and Tom Herman. These are some up and comers that with a good season could be on UM radar.

Al Golden was supposed to be an up and coming coach. I'll pass, I would prefer a proven coach. Ala Butch Davis. But Charlie would kill down in Miami.

I'm with you that I think UM needs a proven winner and can not get this hire wrong, that is why my home run hires for UM would be Chip Kelly, Gary Patterson, Bob Stoops, Mark Dantonio. However since finances and these coaches availability most likely would be a deterrent to accepting the job at UM, an up and comer might be the only choice.

Moreover, Justin Fuente has already done something which Al has never done, win his conference and 10 games. If he has another season like his last I would put him in a convo about the UM coaching job

As far a Tom Herman goes, look at OC from the Urban coaching tree, they usually have success at the collegiate level. If he shows he can win in his first year at Houston, I would also put him in the convo.

I've been saying chip Kelly for a long time, most don't agree with me though. Miami should be the best available job next year

Justin Fuente and Mark Hudepth as well. Fuente for the reason above, 10 wins and a conference championship. Hudepth has won 9 games each year at ULL and is 4-0 in bowl games. Was a winner at North alabama as well, which is usually a D2 powerhouse

I don't care what people say Miami has a ton of money. You can't brag about all your billion dollar fundraisers then act like you don't have enough money. Plus our athletic program doesn't have to fund near as many sports as most schools as we only field around half as many as most schools. We don't even have mens golf which all high schools have lol so they need to pull out the funds and pay a man.

Charlie is making 5mil and his buyout is for sure over 10mil. This would never happen IMO but I do like the thinking outside the box of normal names. If we made the decision that we were willing to pay 5mil for a coach then we could lure just about anybody.

His buyout is zero. Texas didn't put one in the terms. Pretty sure they figured that if he was leaving there that it'd be as a failure.

If that's true and the bot is pressuring him we might could lure him for about 4.5 but were going to have to pay. I think he'd be good for sure

Some people on this board are sleeping on Fuente. Like I said if he has another season like his last he should defiantly be in the convo about the next coaches at UM. I know many people are skeptical about hiring another up and comer because of the Golden debacle but not all up an comers are alike.

Like I said earlier in a post Fuente as already out classed golden in 10 win seasons, bowl win and plus he was mentored by one of the best in Patterson. Also just listen to the guy he sounds nothing like Golden. Watch the link I posted do you hear the accountability in his voice.

Miami is also not a public school. They are looking to keep those billion dollars elsewhere. Our football team is basically a fun side toy right now.

I get it but they are going to have to untie those funds for the football program that put them on the map. Our tuition is also a lot higher then a state school which helps offset the difference.

What's your guys mood on lane kiffen? Because I still feel like he could be a good head coach at the right fit. Im not saying that we are that fit but we could be IMO.

Sometimes I think they forget the football program put them on the map.

I hope they remember in 5 months when we are starting a coaching search
