BigTen's deal is betterForgive me if this has already been posted, but…
With conferences openly discussing playoff realignment, two very different ideas are being floated:
Big Ten proposal:
SEC proposal:
- No conference championship games
- Top 4 teams from each conference qualify
- Week 1: conference “play-in” games
- Week 2: national seeding begins
Give me the BIG 10 ideal, all day.
- Keep the conference championship game
- Conference champion gets automatic playoff bid
- Remaining spots filled at-large
End of the season oftentimes are rivalry games so highly unlikely; and every program wants the best path to a title:Come end of season will we see every starter sits games?
Good thought, I’d like for you to be rightThere is a possibility that the 24 vs 12 makes it so teams stop being scared to schedule tougher regular season games. That's a hope anyways
Who cares about the big matchup if they schedule it?There is a possibility that the 24 vs 12 makes it so teams stop being scared to schedule tougher regular season games. That's a hope anyways
What do seeds have to do with 8 teams? There were approximately 3 teams last year that could’ve won the title. Miami, Indiana, OSU. Nobody else had the personnel or depth to win 3-4 games in the playoff.Well we were 10 seed last year. Just sayin
This is the right answer. Fans didn’t want it. TV money didn’t push for it, bc with cancelling conf champ games, money isn’t that much better.Coaches love it. More can say "we made the playoffs"
I think at this point I might opt to go back to the BCS or the AP/UPI days
The do or die high stakes regular season games is what made the sport special. Now if you lose its just 'were on to Cincinnati '. F*** this
