CFP moving to 24 teams

I don’t really understand the downside of this especially in the NIL era?
Our ‘24 team would have been in even if our defense sucked ***. You have more leeway in the regular season to actually schedule some fun big matchups.
The bracket would most certainly create some entertaining games and matchups.
Does this hurt our chances of making it or increase it on a yearly basis?
What is the downside? Does this make it harder or impossible to get into the Big 10 or SeC?
Trying to figure out why so many people are against it.
bc the regular season doesn't mean **** now.

The regular season will not be totally diminished. Yes the big games like nd vs Miami and Georgia vs bama will lose significance. As the loser will still get in anyway. But their will be more games of consequence as now their will be more teams than ever battling it for a playoff spot through the entire regular season. As opposed to most teams playoffs hopes are over halfway through now. So it gives more fans hope and keeps them engaged in their teams longer and that draws eyeballs. Also this should help get rid of those September garbage non conference games. Schools will not be afraid of scheduling other big time schools knowing they are allowed 3 possibly 4 mulligans.

The Regular season is now up in smoke.

The only positive i saw is some one explained on twitter that the framing of a 24 team playoff is wrong. This is basically a 16 team playoff with a qualifying round in place of conf championship weekend. When you put it that way it makes it seem better but yea the powerhouse teams will never miss the playoffs now and it will devalue the regular season by a ton.

I said the same thing imagine playing 12 regular season games and then have to play 5 straight games for example vs USC, texas a&m, Ohio state, Ole miss, Indiana. You better win cause you'll be beat up and broken team after that
The upside of the playoffs regarding exposure for the players and the money generated by all these games must be great, but these boys are taking a beating before possibly entering another league to take yet another beating if they decide to go pro and make it. I'm not a fan, at some point you have to care about these athletes.

Exactly I know the guys at the top make significantly more money with these added games but the beating on these players is so high now. Even our own team played 16 games last year and some physical games and now we have to play 16 or 17 to win it this year. The grind is wild guys are really gonna be resting and load management going on.
I know thats why a lot of people on here don't watch NFL because the intensity and consequences of losing regular season games are not there

The Greedheads are going to trash to Regular Season and the Rivalry Games so they can turn College Football into the NFL and make it completely soulless.

It will be 10 B1G teams and 10 $EC teams and the rest of us begging the P2 and ESPN for the table scraps.

Make sense to expand rosters but those rosters will get more expensive as well, you don't need a two deep you need a 3 deep.

More money for the fat greedy pigs that run cfb while they fly to Washington to party with fat corrupt politicians to make laws that limit what these kids make.

So you can go 8-4 or 9-3 every year and get in the playoffs. 10 wins and you a lock to get in smh that’s taking away from what made cfb great

Lmao, only thing I can take from what’s implied here is that ESPN got out ahead of the curve by leaking the agreement to try to get this thing wrapped up before the sharks (FoX, Skydance and possibly NBC) circle in with offers

BTW, if you didn't think a Player's Union wasn't coming, guess again.

Of course, there a few more toothless organizations than the NFLPA, so I don't know what good a Player's Union could do except level the playing field a bit for the Scrubs at Last Chance University (I'm talkin' bout You, Florida State!).

There's another thing: they may also be trying to close this thing down before the Public, AND Congress, has a chance to get involved. Especially the Congress Critters repping the Smaller Schools.

Stop ******* up the greatest sport in the world. A team that loses 3 or 4 games in the regular season doesn't deserve a chance to win a national title.

Better win the ACC this year or we never will. Conference championships won’t happen anymore.

Not that it really matters but would be great to just do it one time lol
