Big update from Herald

To be fair, besides a select few, it feels like the media is being used as pawns by whichever side decides to leak their story on any given day.

So it's hard to tell if this is true or just another smokescreen. But they deserve zero benefit of the doubt
I can easily answer that for you…. Literally got DMoney starting a thread saying big update from the herald and a lot of ppl has fallen for that 😂😂😂. DMoney doesn’t need the herald to get updates, it’s a smokescreen.

Honestly...it's hard to tell since there isn't a ton of info out there regarding the specifics of what Gino does in his current roles. But I do think there's two main components of an organization, for both NFL and college.

1 - Business operations (finance, sales, operations, etc)
2 - Sport (players, coaches, support staff, etc)

I see Zo as more experienced on the sport side of things (obviously). There's limited info out there but by what is out there Zo seems to favor scouting and handling player personnel decisions. It doesn't seem like this is a guy sitting in on marketing meetings, reviewing renewal rates on season tickets, and/or supporting on closing some corporate development deals. He's more so going to be in the film room reviewing tape with coaches and traveling doing some scouting. The management experience probably comes in his management over the scouts but it's very likely there's a Biz Ops person managing all of that.

Gino, on the other hand, probably has more of the business operations experience. GAMCO is a publicly traded brokerage firm and he sits as SVP. Not really sure what he does as SVP but probably has a little more experience in the traditional business world. Additionally, he's also CEO of Touchdown Radio which really just seems like a passion project that lets him color commentate on a CFB game every weekend.

Can they both be successful ADs? Idk and you don't know...none of us do...but I do know that neither of them is anywhere near being one of the more qualified candidates out there.

With that said, if you put a gun to my head and forced me to pick...I'd probably let you pull the trigger.w
wouldn't that be considered recruiting lol?

- Zo or Torretta paired with more-experienced administrator is most likely scenario
- Per source, "the whole thing revolves around football. Nothing else."
- School wants to do something "meaningful"
- Most important- Manny almost assuredly gone in this scenario

So we will do the same thing we did last time when we hired Manny, we will put someone in a job they never had before and hope it turns out for the best. Dumb move for a school that wants to be good at something.

Yes. It is a fascinating debate on so many levels. Wish I could "cheat ahead" five years to see how this turns out.
That's me. I have no idea which AD would return us to being an elite program, but the PRESSURE is so heavy that they can't **** this up. I mean this fanbase will not tolerate more 7-5 seasons. People are that mad.

this board has a disdain for women and it's weird TBH.

No problem at all with a woman AD as long as she's good at the job. Having served in the military for many years, my experience is that the women who make it to flag officer /general officer level tend to be ballbreakers. They never want to give the impression of being soft/maternal (not a good look in the military) so they push way far in the opposite direction, which ironically often makes them bigger ****s than their male counterparts.

Sore losers in this thread already and the decision hasn't even been made. The kind that if they don't get picked on the team they take their ball and go home. . .

I'm not advocating, but:

1) Former player. Understands Miami and the culture and the unique challenges here.
2) He likely has the ability as a former player to make assessments of any issues with the football team, program, and staff and be able to articulately convey those thoughts to a group of business-savvy individuals who likely have no idea the difference between an a gap and b gap so that the BOT can make the appropriate decisions to hire, fire, and otherwise make informed football decisions.
3) His LinkedIn profile says he is senior VP at Gamco Investors and CEO of Touchdown Radio. So, presumably, he has some knowledge of business organizations, structures, etc. that could be implemented here.

Stopped reading at #1

The best candidates DO NOT have to be former players, former students or anything related to Miami.

There is no "unique" challenge to being a Miami AD that doesn't exist elsewhere.

‘The upper levels of the University of Miami football administration would like to hire an athletic director who understands the culture of Hurricanes football and is intimately familiar with the market, a source involved in the process said over the weekend. “That has narrowed the search to a fairly limited group.”’

WHY??
-WHY DOES THIS DUMB *** SCHOOL CONTINUE TO THINK THEY ARE DIFFERENT THAN THE REST OF FOOTBALL??!!

-WTF R U NOT HIRING THE BEST, MOST QUALIFIED W/ TANGIBLE RESULTS??!!

-WHY IS JENN STRAWLEY’S NAME, WHO’S BEEN APART OF THIS FAILURE, EVEN REMOTELY CONNECTED TO ANY DECISION MAKING??!!

-WHY IN THE FCK IS AN AD WHO’S BEEN CONNECTED TO TITLE IX ISSUES & CURRENT SCHOOL SUCKS AT ALLLLLLLLLLL SPORTS BEING CONSIDERED???!!

-WHY DON’T MIAMI WANT TO BE GREAT IN ALL SPORTS? NOTICED HOW THEY DIDN’T MENTION CHHHHHIT ABOUT OUR ONCE PROUD BASEBALL PROGRAM!

-WHY IS THIS BEING LISTED AS “BIG NEWS?” THIS NEWS IS DEPRESSING AF!
Everytime I hear Miami, say they want someone that understand the culture. I truly believe their saying that they want someone thats cuban decent

Shout out to all those posters from last week that were in hysterics when I said there's very little chance Miami has been conducting an AD search while Blake was still in charge.

You guys led me to say some very nasty things to you in retaliation which popped my banned cherry.

1. She does not have a ***** (allegedly).
2. She spoke to people on certain issues (Mullet) when Beta Blake refused to open his mouth, thus giving the incorrect impression that she was more responsible for certain decisions than he was.
3. Her name was included on a banner.
4. Woke woke woke woke woke (I hope I shoehorned that into the post correctly).
5. She has utterly failed to put a dagger in Beta Blake's back as Brutus did to Julius Caesar.

I am NOT in favor of retaining her, but if the new AD independently values her ongoing employment, that should be his decision to make.
Agreed. IF her role, should they retain her, is to handle the bureaucracy, paperwork, NCAA rules issues, etc. Basically, let Zo be the ideas and decisions guy, snd Strawley do the administrative work behind it, all the stuff Zo has no experience in. If Zo is comfortable with a scenario like that, then it may not be ideal but it's not necessarily bad. If it gets us a football coaching change and renewed, real commitment to football, I could live with it.
