Big update from Herald

I'm not advocating, but:

1) Former player. Understands Miami and the culture and the unique challenges here.
2) He likely has the ability as a former player to make assessments of any issues with the football team, program, and staff and be able to articulately convey those thoughts to a group of business-savvy individuals who likely have no idea the difference between an a gap and b gap so that the BOT can make the appropriate decisions to hire, fire, and otherwise make informed football decisions.
3) His LinkedIn profile says he is senior VP at Gamco Investors and CEO of Touchdown Radio. So, presumably, he has some knowledge of business organizations, structures, etc. that could be implemented here.
Some, myself included, may view points 1 and 2 as weaknesses. Often times an outside point of view is best to actually see a problem and how to fix it.

Funny to read how some on this board want Zo or Gino even with no real AD or Admin experience. But then crap on actual ADs who are young and have some experience doing the job. Which one is it?!? Can’t have it both ways

Imagine firing Blake to replace him with Jen

The knife can cut both ways. Maggard, Hocutt, and Eichorst had outside points of view and were bad fits at Miami.

I'm not just trying to throw out random names, those were 3 of our last 5 ADs. It's a tricky needle to thread.

I don’t disagree about Zo and think both he and Toretta are outstanding people but the reason they are considering Toretta has to do with fundraising not whether he can spot QB’s. They’re not going to hire both of those guys, it’s an either or situation. Zo is more qualified but they look at Toretta as someone who can fundraise better due to his profession.

What I mean by that is Gino is a big believer in everything revolves around the QB, not that is what his job will be. We need someone with that type of mentality who will push that culture onto our program as well finances, fund raising, etc. Look at every successful team, from ****ebag G5 to Bamma to NFL. LSU without Burrow, ****, it wasn't Joe Brady. Packers without Rodgers, dog ****e. It's all about the QB.

Our program has lacked that kind of mentality and leadership for years, terrible QB recruiting and planning. I will say Diaz did an excellent job here at QB with King, TVD and Garcia. He almost put it together but his big **** ego on defense killed him along with his inability to set feelings aside and not put a still injured King out there to get injured even more.

Why do I feel like there is two likely outcomes:

1. Miami crushes the hiring process for AD and HC. They’ve kept everything tight lipped and we are all squirming for nothing

2. Miami can’t get out of their own way, hire someone because they have Miami ties rather than being the best candidate. Manny stays for 1 more year

Why would the likes of Ruiz, Mas and Lemonis kick in money for option #2
Do you seriously believe that option #1 could be even remotely possible knowing these clowns and how they operate?

Took them two weeks to circle back to Zo, Torretta and ******* Strawley

Three people who have zero experience. Unbelievable man
Exactly, I am very concerned. This is pathetic if true. Sounds like the old guard at Miami is still winning out especially the part about Strawley getting a possible bump up. Wtf is going on?!
