Big update from Herald

I like the idea of a team consisting of Zo over football operations and Nunez over everything else. Some see this as a problem, but I don't. As I mentioned in another post, the other sports are nice and all, but I really only care about football and I DO believe Zo would make mostly smart decisions regarding UM football.

Everything in this thread is just saddening.

Let's keep pushing unqualified candidates and only people with a link to the school or city. Embarrassing. The decision makers have absolutely learned nothing in the past 20 years. And let's not get it twisted.....it's not like the school itself has been shooting up the charts academically during the sports decline.

this program is the biggest joke I have ever seen. We need fresh freaking blood and all they want to do is hire more Miami guys. This is an inbred culture, and so are the results
It's why I roll my eyes when I start to hear the alumni talk. It's great that they're echoing the same things as the fans in terms of the mediocre results. But then if the HC and/or AD is not from Miami, they dismiss them immediately. If Saban decided he's going to up and leave Bama this afternoon for Miami, I bet there are some that would be against it simply because Saban doesn't have ties to the university.

Living in New Orleans and having close connections to a lot of the bigger boosters you’d be surprised what I know about the LSU program….and yes I do know what his part was in it and what he was accused of.

Now as far as what the problems are with Jurich no I don’t know particulars other than what was written at the time and that he was cleared of all charges.
Well, Jurich wasn't "cleared" of all charges. The NCAA didn't weigh in, and he wasn't tried by a jury of his peers. He was fired for cause, then sued the school, and both parties agreed to settle. As one does. It does not mean there weren't actions taken by him that would give another employer serious pause or cause them to take him off the table. It's interesting that he has not been hired by anyone since. Point is, we don't know.

As for LSU, would you tell us what you know and what he did, and what he was accused of, and how solid the info is?

All this said, I am convinced that 99% of the things that have been leaked from the U have been smokescreens. While a broken clock is right twice a day, I would say the press and "insiders" here may be a little behind that of late. I'll sit back, wait to see what's real, instead of wasting my time worrying about 10 things, 9 of which aren't real.

I don’t get this board? What would Tom Jurich bring to the university that Zo or Gino wouldn’t? You think Mario or Lane aren’t picking up the phone for Alonso or Gino? Would you rather have some second rate administrator like Nunez or the chubby fella for TTU?
Other than he’s been an AD before, made critical hires, and knows how to sell/fundraiser? They’re on equal ground excluding all that.

Will he be Mario's puppet though because I'm sure the Columbus Crew will assure us all that both are the most Alphaiest Alphas since the inception of the Greek alphabet. Sooooo....what happens when the Football Czar and The Football Savior Coach clash on something football related?

Does the universe just refuse to comprehend that one must win out and instead swallows itself? Or does Strawley first file a lawsuit about the "toxic masculinity" in the workplace as basketball fails to qualify for the CBI Tournament and beisbol is getting blown out by teams from up north where their recruits can only even practice outdoors for like half of the year?

Hey Nick, we just hired Keith McCants to be Alabama's football czar. We are going to run player evals through him and then give you a list of guys you can recruit.

My buddy wrote this show.

Such a joke that they have yet to make a decision. You have a great AD basically begging for the job and it’s looking like they are going in a different direction. What a joke
This University, this administration, this athletic department and this BOT are beyond being called a joke. This is literally the most insanely corrupt, clueless and incompetent organization that I have ever witnessed. They are truly the bottom of the barrel. This place truly is a circus and a side show but it isn't funny or amusing. This is what you get when you take a bunch of highly functioning sociopaths and insert them into a real world style production of The Keystone Cops with a football twist to it. Pathetic, sad, twisted and absolutely disgusting. Think the movie "American Psycho" crossed with "The Three Stooges" and this is the Miami athletic department in a nutshell.

I have to imagine Miami is the worst run athletic department in the Power 5
It was definitely Miami, USC, Nebraska, or Tennessee. Tennessee and USC have since hired Danny White and Mike Bohn and cleared that up. Nebraska hired Trev Alberts (former husker LBer in the 90s) from Nebraska-Omaha (wasn't even D1 until recently) - so Nebraska is still up in the air.

Miami or Nebraska hands down. Fitting that they hired a former All-American, CFB HOFer alum and Miami is looking to hire someone from their past as well.

You could also make the case for FSU being in this conversation and they have the lowest paid AD in P5 - from public school records. So you get what you pay for. But they still have a good basketball program. Baseball and football fell off a cliff under the previous guy before they kept their interim around.

Bro, using Keith McCants there was an A+++ choice too. Well done! Hahaha.

The year is 2040: 3 new global pandemics have propelled UHealth to the NYSE with a $1T evaluation. The university is ready to spend an unprecedented $1B on the Athletic Department and fix its football program. Our 2 hires: Columbus's Principal as new AD and Columbus's football coach as new HC.

I strayed from my rules, but I’m returning to what I know to be true

There is no conspiracy. There is no one “playing chess.”

Good programs don’t do **** like this. You’ve never seen a school hire an AD and it look like this. There aren’t dominoes that need to fall. We have no idea wtf we are doing and we are going to fail, just like always. We have 20 years of experience to fall back on. The likelihood of us hiring an unqualified person to run our AD and keeping Manny is looking highly likely

This might offend some of you...Zo is not smart enough or capable enough to lead this athletic program on his own. He just doesn't have the background aside from football. He needs someone else that can take over the rest...and Nunez SURE AS **** ain't it. If Nunez is hired, Tennessee-Greg Schiano is in full affect.

This is dumb. Get one guy. This is a major D1 university, with a global brand. You’re telling me we couldn’t attract 1 competent candidate. Why not go after White from FAU? He’s up the road. Instead you go after some nobody with Miami ties from New Mexico. It’s because the administration is corrupt and they want puppets.
Maybe dumb but still big upgrade from bj
