Big update from Herald

Papa John did more for Louisville than Jurich. Ya’ll need to settle down and see what happens. There’s a reason why no one in college athletics has hired Jurich in the last FOUR years.
Stfu. Jurich had so much power that he was considered one of the most powerful people in the state of Kentucky and that been written by numerous known sources. You don’t know a thing of what you’re talking about.

Can somebody explain to me exactly what Gino brings to the table?
I'm not advocating, but:

1) Former player. Understands Miami and the culture and the unique challenges here.
2) He likely has the ability as a former player to make assessments of any issues with the football team, program, and staff and be able to articulately convey those thoughts to a group of business-savvy individuals who likely have no idea the difference between an a gap and b gap so that the BOT can make the appropriate decisions to hire, fire, and otherwise make informed football decisions.
3) His LinkedIn profile says he is senior VP at Gamco Investors and CEO of Touchdown Radio. So, presumably, he has some knowledge of business organizations, structures, etc. that could be implemented here.

It was definitely Miami, USC, Nebraska, or Tennessee. Tennessee and USC have since hired Danny White and Mike Bohn and cleared that up. Nebraska hired Trev Alberts (former husker LBer in the 90s) from Nebraska-Omaha (wasn't even D1 until recently) - so Nebraska is still up in the air.

Miami or Nebraska hands down. Fitting that they hired a former All-American, CFB HOFer alum and Miami is looking to hire someone from their past as well.

You could also make the case for FSU being in this conversation and they have the lowest paid AD in P5 - from public school records. So you get what you pay for. But they still have a good basketball program. Baseball and football fell off a cliff under the previous guy before they kept their interim around.
FSU could easily take the title. The only reason for their basketball success is the longevity of Leonard Hamilton.

This might offend some of you...Zo is not smart enough or capable enough to lead this athletic program on his own. He just doesn't have the background aside from football. He needs someone else that can take over the rest...and Nunez SURE AS **** ain't it. If Nunez is hired, Tennessee-Greg Schiano is in full affect.
How dare you? He got a 69 on his ACT and he got a perfect score on his SATs

The old AD and coach didn't want ZO, that tells me he wouldn't be a bad pick on that alone.

Torretta is actually a smart mother'fer, and is not just getting a look because he's a Miami guy. He knows the ultimate thing that drives a football program and he knows how to spot it, QB's. As you see with TVD a QB can overcome a lot.

An AD with Gino in a football role like ZO is not a bad thing, I'd rather see an outside hire, no ties but we could do a lot worse than ZO or Gino.
I don’t disagree about Zo and think both he and Toretta are outstanding people but the reason they are considering Toretta has to do with fundraising not whether he can spot QB’s. They’re not going to hire both of those guys, it’s an either or situation. Zo is more qualified but they look at Toretta as someone who can fundraise better due to his profession.

Miami needs an AD not a former football player with no experience running the entire athletic department. Then they need to hire a director of football operations. Get an experienced AD, hire Zo, back the Brinks truck up to Cristobal's house and make him say no.

I got a 34 on my ACT and that doesn't mean jack sh^t. I know you're being sarcastic, so not attacking you; more so just making an emphasis that it's a stupid standardized test score and has nothing to do with intelligence or how to run an athletic program.

Wow good job on the ACT! Do you have any ties to Miami or UM?

You might be qualified to be our AD

Yeah I heard the Lane Kiffin story. But you want a guy who has to concentrate on breathing everytime he takes a step because he is morbidly obese and another clown that has watched athletics go downhill across the board at new Mexico? I agree none of the above are good enough but he's better than el cubanos. And el cubanos will more than likely keep Manny another year. They are automatically disqualified in that regard.

What coach wants a former player breathing down their neck telling them who to recruit?

Then you have the 100s of other former players breathing down Zo's neck telling him to recruit their kid, cousin, etc.

Zo would not be a legit candidate for anything in an AD at a top 25 football school. For some reason our fan base eats it up.
If it ends up being Mario and Zo, and Mario is okay with it (which he would obviously be if he comes), then I have no issue with it

Why do I feel like there is two likely outcomes:

1. Miami crushes the hiring process for AD and HC. They’ve kept everything tight lipped and we are all squirming for nothing

2. Miami can’t get out of their own way, hire someone because they have Miami ties rather than being the best candidate. Manny stays for 1 more year

Why would the likes of Ruiz, Mas and Lemonis kick in money for option #2

I’ve come to the dark side. We’re going to **** this up.

My only hope is the big money sticks around and we can buy our way to success. Any scenario that’s gets us Mario (or Lane) and I’m fine with. Because if the money sticks around the Athletic department will give Mario anything he ask for and that’s where we need to be.
