Benedict Cristobal is gone

People keep saying that no way he leaves, but if that's the case, then why would he entertain the interview?

Who has confirmed he's entertained the interview? I've not seen one legit report, just speculation and hearsay.

FBS is turning into MLB. Teams that pay the most win the most. An amateur sport, where money has more influence than in the pro version.

But hey NCAA rules committee, let's focus on cut blocks and personal fouls!

****ing Saban

More like f*cking CrystalBall if this is true. That would be the ultimate **** maneuver, and save me all the "he can't turn down that sort of raise" or whatever other horseshyt anyone wants to toss out there. You don't take a gig at your alma mater and then start looking around for another one a month later.

I really hope this isn't true because, if it is, he's a gaping ****.

Agreed 100%

I'd be willing to bet he's spoken to Saban out of courtesy, but that's as far as the interest will go. Cristobal knows he's on track to one day be the next HC at Miami if he plays his cards right. Leaving a month after being hired is pretty much burning that bridge.

This "courtesy" **** is a joke. He owes more courtesy to his present employer than he does to some dude at a rival institution. The proper courtesy would be to say, "Thank you for your interest, but I just took this gig at my alma mater a few days ago, and it would be preposterous of me to interview somewhere else so soon."

From Miami Herald and Barry Jackson. Looks like it's not a rumor.

Cristobal, Alabama talk; Chatter on Marlins offense; Heat-Thunder postscripts; Canes, Fins notes

Quick Friday update: Mario Cristobal, UM's associate head coach and tight ends coach, has talked to Alabama about the vacant offensive line coach on Nick Saban's staff, according to a source. Earlier today, Alabama247sports.com reported that Cristobal was interviewing for the job Friday.

Cristobal is one of several candidates who has spoken with Saban. Alabama reportedly was interested in South Carolina assistant Shawn Elliott, but Steve Spurrier said today that he's staying with the Gamecocks. UCF o-line coach Brent Key is also reportedly a candidate.

The Alabama o-line position was previously filled by former UM offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland, who left recently to join Chip Kelly's staff with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Cristobal returned to UM Jan. 10 after being fired as head coach at FIU. Cristobal was an offensive lineman at UM and previously was an assistant coach for the Hurricanes.

Talked doesn't mean interviewed. Just like Golden "talked" to every school every year since he got here.

I wonder if there is anything to the fact that reportedly he didn't get along with Kehoe before. doesn't seem like much but ya never know if the working dynamic is tough then maybe. just trying to wrap my head around how he can seriously interview for a job after a month of being here.

could be trying to get a boost in pay since he most assuredly took a pay cut from a head coaching gig to a position coach. might have gotten used to hc pay and be hc spending. tough to go back. hopefully this is just about getting a raise and not leaving. i hate when coaches do this for leverage. It's bull**** but it's the nature of the business I guess

The Alabama24/7 crew is reporting that he is interviewing today. Not talking. Interviewing.
I don't know **** about what goes on around Tuscaloosa, but I'm sure those good old boys who report on Alabama football know quite a bit.

I'm still stunned that Cristobal would even talk to other schools much less interview.
How many paychecks has he received from Miami? 2? 3?
Unbelievable.

well, if he bolts, he can kiss the "dream" about being a head coach at Miami good bye.

¡coño!

Unless this potentiality was specifically addressed with Al before the hire, I disown this dude if he interviews.

I am pretty sure he is still getting paid by FIU though, so how much $$ could we be talking here w/ Alabama?
