Benedict Cristobal is gone

Why are people so beat up about Cristobal?

1. For everyone that applauded Golden for hiring Cristobal, do you not have confidence that he can make another homerun hire? None of his assistant choices have been bad, why would he start now?
2. If the guy doesnt want to be here, then **** him. If he isnt putting his heart into this **** and only looking for a paycheck, then we dont need him.
3. If you are worried about recruiting, dont. We will be fine.

Once again we are the worst fan base on planet earth. Please neg me into oblivion. The guy just got canned from FIU for no apparent reason that we know. Yes, his alma mater through him a life line and hired him. I'm sure he's grateful for that. But, this is a business and he has a career and family to think of. He's been given the oppurtunity to coach at the top football program in the nation, make more money, and more than likely open more future doors. We just hired Coley away from his alma mater and no one made one single negative comment about him. Instead we used every spin like, better oppurtunity to run the offense, his hometown, etc. It's sucks he's gone, but I'm sure Golden will find someone suitable to replace him. For now I'll wish Mario good luck, thank him for Coley and his career as a Cane player and coach.

Most of you whining on this post probably don't have a family, are young, aren't ambitious, and don't have oppurtunities like this come your way.

I think most are ok with him going to Bama.

Stopped reading...

If there's any karma in the universe, Saban bolts for the first open NFL job, leaving Mario in Tuscaloosa to rot...

Unlikely. Remember he bolted the Dolphins. It has given a bad mark on him from NFL.

This **** again?
That weak mantra of yours justifying BeanerDict's short-sightness has already been addressed in this thread over the weekend.
Why regurgitate the same garbage?
Seriously, you and your ilk need to go find another program to follow.
Pick an SEC school.
How about Bama?

I didn't read the whole thread, dip****. This is my first post on this subject. None of you losers will ever have this type of decision or oppurtunity. So go ahead fire away. Mario will be just fine and so will the Canes. You ***** sweat things way too much.

How much money is enough?

For who? You can answer for yourself. But please don't start to tell me about how your view of money is what others should live by.

This has nothing to do with money, in any case. Mario knew his value and alternatives when he took the UM job. This has to do with commitment and loyalty. When you take a job, you should, you know, do that job. If some unexpected clearly better opportunity comes along, well, that can happen. But you don't take a high profile position at a school you claim to love, only to bail and take a comparable job elsewhere less then a month on the job. That's bull****, low character stuff. It's not about money.

This exactly. I understand if some significantly better job came open that he just couldn't refuse (an OC job, an NFL coordinator job, etc.). He knew that he could have waited and taken a job for more money somewhere else, as he was still seen as a hot commodity by lots of people. Instead, he took a job at Miami because it was home, because he supposedly loved the school, because he shared the same vision as AG, blah blah blah. But to take a lateral job a month after "coming home" is an absolute slap in the face to a place he professed his love for. You just don't do that to your alma mater, not in this situation, not for this job. I knew he wouldnt be around long, but I never would have anticipated that he would make a move like this.

The only thing is this was not a lateral job move.. Coaching under Saban holds a lot of steam to the AD's in college. Who would be better to learn from than Saban?

**** that. This is a lateral move. Don't try to convince yourself otherwise. It might be a slight upgrade as far as lateral moves go, but it's a lateral move. And whether it's a slight upgrade depends on your view of the value of corching at your alma mater (Mario claimed he valued that) as well as the relative pros and cons of Miami vs. Tuscaloosa. I'd argue it's not an upgrade at all. And for all those who suck Saban's ****, Jed Fisch got a pretty good job after 2 years in Miami. Our RB corch did, too. As did our WR corch. Golden's got credibility.

Wow, you could not be more off base. This is exactly the move someone who is young would make. Shortsighted and wracked with complete lack of character and integrity. It's a betrayal of a coach, your school, and a fanbase. You burn birdges with a move like this.

This is a move you make before you take the UM job. You only take a job like the one he took at UM if you are willing to bypass this type of job for a year or two at least. You commit.

Btw, Coley was at FSU for 6 years and was never getting the OC gig. That's a terrible comparison.

This job wasn't available to him before he took the UM job.

You should follow another program.
You don't belong here.
Fkn sellout POS.

So sick of this ****. Hire Trooper Taylor. Hire Gran. Hire Lockette. Lock this motherfcker down.

This fanbase has been so beaten down over the past decade they are now like a battered wife, making excuses for people treating us like ****.

As for the pay increase - no doubt he'll get a big one at bama, but I will wager that after a couple years at UM, that money will be there for him (if he's as good as he thinks he is). This short term approach is short sighted if this is a money issue. the money will eventually be there for him

It's not like he'd be at Bama any longer than he'd be at UM, or vice versa. The idea is to get the most money at the best position in a short amount of time before going on as an HC somewhere. Whatever he thinks will accomplish that goal is what he'll choose.

I get the profession - upward mobility to the max. I get that. However, one month into his current gig at his alma matter when he'll be at bama for what - a few years? You don't think that he can get that money at a top program if he stays at UM?

I'm sure he can. But look at it this way:

Let's say that his final destination--an HC gig in a power conference--is the same whether he's at UM or Bama. And let's say it takes him the same amount of time to reach that destination, probably 2 years.

Now, let's assume that the rumors are true that he'd make 500k/yr at UM. And we know that he feels money is an issue. So let's just guesstimate and say that Bama would pay him 650-700k/yr.

Over 2 years, he'd make 300-400k more at Bama than he would at UM. That's almost an extra year's salary at UM.

I understand the math, like I said, short sighted decision if he's using bama as a springboard for something else (which he obviously is).

If he is gone, you have to wonder how that had to do with Coley?

I keep seeing this question and I think folks are looking at this backwards.
No way Cristabama leaves because he feels slighted at Coley's salary/position.
If anything, I think it would be Coley helping Mario get that Bama gig, and I would hope
Golden has his head on a swivel the next time Saban is looking for an OC.

I agree. I would tread lightly with Coley.

Looks like al got played.

This is what gets me. I have a hard time believing Golden hired Cristobal with the condition that Cristobla would bolt at the drop of the hat the next good offer he gets. Just doens't pass the sniff test.

Weren't Golden and Cristobal close? Could there be more to this? He essentially stabbed Golden in the back.

Not sure Mario's close to anyone other than himself.

Moral of the story...don't hire columbdumbs.

Good one... dumbass.

If you cant see why he would leave to the team that just won back to back NC and won 3 out of 4 you are blinded by homerism. This is obviously a smarter career move for him than to be coaching TE at UM. I guarantee you he is at Bama for no more than a year because he will get a better job. If anybody expected Cristobal to stay for over a year here you are delusional.

Bull****. If corching TEs at UM was such a bad gig, he shouldn't have taken it. He knew what he was signing up for. And in high profile jobs, being seen as reliable and trustworthy is a big deal. And ******** over your alma mater is more glaring than ******** over a random other school. So I don't agree this is an 'obviously smarter' career move for him.

You've only made 4 posts and you're already insulting folks for rightly ripping Beanerdict?
Calling Bama a better job?
Get the f---k out of here you troll.
