Benedict Cristobal is gone

How much money is enough?

For who? You can answer for yourself. But please don't start to tell me about how your view of money is what others should live by.

This has nothing to do with money, in any case. Mario knew his value and alternatives when he took the UM job. This has to do with commitment and loyalty. When you take a job, you should, you know, do that job. If some unexpected clearly better opportunity comes along, well, that can happen. But you don't take a high profile position at a school you claim to love, only to bail and take a comparable job elsewhere less then a month on the job. That's bull****, low character stuff. It's not about money.

This exactly. I understand if some significantly better job came open that he just couldn't refuse (an OC job, an NFL coordinator job, etc.). He knew that he could have waited and taken a job for more money somewhere else, as he was still seen as a hot commodity by lots of people. Instead, he took a job at Miami because it was home, because he supposedly loved the school, because he shared the same vision as AG, blah blah blah. But to take a lateral job a month after "coming home" is an absolute slap in the face to a place he professed his love for. You just don't do that to your alma mater, not in this situation, not for this job. I knew he wouldnt be around long, but I never would have anticipated that he would make a move like this.

Good move to be honest, who better to learn under than the king of CFB. Dudes boutta win 4 out of 5 and possible 5 of 6. No one can stop them unless we can lock down SFLA which apparently we cant do to be honest.

Only at Miami do our alumni constantly ***** us

Our local media sells the program out and bashes Miami at the drop of a hat. Our fans are some of the worst in College Football, not showing up for games and caring more about a coaches skin color than his production. Our boosters are not loyal and will turn on the program to try to bury it to save their own skin. Why should our alumni be any different?

It's a shortsighted move that simply illustrates a lack of character. Any GM/HC who ever interviews Mario for a job will point to this episode and question his loyalty. If they don't they are stupid.

Once again we are the worst fan base on planet earth. Please neg me into oblivion. The guy just got canned from FIU for no apparent reason that we know. Yes, his alma mater through him a life line and hired him. I'm sure he's grateful for that. But, this is a business and he has a career and family to think of. He's been given the oppurtunity to coach at the top football program in the nation, make more money, and more than likely open more future doors. We just hired Coley away from his alma mater and no one made one single negative comment about him. Instead we used every spin like, better oppurtunity to run the offense, his hometown, etc. It's sucks he's gone, but I'm sure Golden will find someone suitable to replace him. For now I'll wish Mario good luck, thank him for Coley and his career as a Cane player and coach.

Most of you whining on this post probably don't have a family, are young, aren't ambitious, and don't have oppurtunities like this come your way.

The only thing is this was not a lateral job move.. Coaching under Saban holds a lot of steam to the AD's in college. Who would be better to learn from than Saban?

Well of course we can't "lock down SFLA" when Alabama has enough taxpayer and booster money to buy any coach and recruiter they want, including those with SFLA connections who pretend to be loyal until the money truck comes rolling in. It's a completely unlevel playing field for most schools, but especially a smaller private school like UM. If the NCAA wants to actually do something for college football instead of the nonsense they are doing now, how about a salary cap for coaching staffs? Because for all the BS about "paying" players and there being "unfair competitive advantage" to a school that buys a recruit dinner, they seem to have no problem with allowing boosters to pay enormous percentages of coaches' salaries.

i have read they have tripled his salary, man they really wanted to have him on their staff, to be honest i would have left too, but i wouldnt have left the way he did, he was only here for about a month if you werent committed when you first got hired then why take the job to begin with, Golden needs to counter quick with a good WR coach with south florida ties maybe Lockette or Bennett

Wow, you could not be more off base. This is exactly the move someone who is young would make. Shortsighted and wracked with complete lack of character and integrity. It's a betrayal of a coach, your school, and a fanbase. You burn birdges with a move like this.

This is a move you make before you take the UM job. You only take a job like the one he took at UM if you are willing to bypass this type of job for a year or two at least. You commit.

Btw, Coley was at FSU for 6 years and was never getting the OC gig. That's a terrible comparison.

I have no problem with what you say except F him ever coming back to Miami, ever!

This job wasn't available to him before he took the UM job.

I think most are ok with him going to Bama, but his timing is pretty bad. He turned down other opportunites better than this Bama gig to join the staff when Miami was interviewing other top candidates for the WR coaching job. Alot of those guys have taken other jobs now and finding a suitable replacement will be much more difficult now.

Who is turning down triple the salary, and having input in game planning? TRIPLE THE SALARY.

for everyone who are now in panic mode now saying we arent getting anyone in SoFla calm down, Alabama is going to get some kids regardless just because they are Alabama, Mario was a great recruiter but its not like we dont have some good recruiters on our staff too, we still have Golden, Coley, and Barrow we will be ok, im actually really curious as to who we will hire to replace him, it has to be someone that can recruit

This **** again?
That weak mantra of yours justifying BeanerDict's short-sightness has already been addressed in this thread over the weekend.
Why regurgitate the same garbage?
Seriously, you and your ilk need to go find another program to follow.
Pick an SEC school.
How about Bama?
