He wasn’t the only one for sure, the oline was bad and i felt the defense was playing pretty soft too. Their qb was running a few of our guys over after contact. Malik’s misses down the field definitely defined that game period and it was infuriating

The misses down the field defined the game for you because of what had happened throughout the season: we start slow and turn up the heat in crunch time. During the Pitt game there were early miscues all over the place. Earlier in this thread I pointed out that just on our 1st series there was a hold, 2 drops, a run for no gain, and a missed assignment by the O-line that led to a Pitt DE getting a sack without anybody putting a hand on him. 7 plays, only 2 resulted in positive yardage.

The reason this game ****ed everyone off was when it was time to stop ****ing around and win the game, Rosier couldn't hit anything, and he got yanked because of it. I don't think anybody would try to state otherwise. But we never should have been in that position. I get that we're not yet that team that can just line it up and pound the trenches against the bluebloods, but Pitt? Yeah, I'm sorry. 16 yards from the backs is pathetic. I don't give a **** how inaccurate Rosier was, he didn't turn the ball over in 34 attempts. On a day when your QB is playing that poorly against a scrub 4-7 team, if you can't line it up and pound the rock against a team like that and escape with a win, then you're just not a very good football team. No need to try to dress it up as anything other than what it is, or try to oversimplify things pretending that just switching QBs would have made a difference. Pitt sacked our QB 4 times and held our running backs to 16 yards. Passing stats are irrelevant when you're playing that poorly.

We had a 21 day layoff then played 9 straight without a break. We were 10-0 and ranked #2 in the CFP. That's more success than we've seen in quite a number of years. We had officially won the Coastal for the first time ever the previous week and already had our ticket punched to Charlotte. No matter what happened in that Pitt game, all we had to do was cruise through it, take 2 week break, then play Clemson for a spot in the CFP.

The whole team took that game off. Rosier wasn't the only one just going through the motions. He's just the only one who admitted it.

He had the most opportunities to win the game the defense gave him a couple turnovers, pitt dared us to throw the ball by stacking the box all game long left their guys on islands, our defense did enough to keep us in it, they made malik try to beat them and he didn’t the retarded thing is you trying to pass blame to other factors, he was missing screen passes multiple times, any QB would have killed it with the looks he got in the game

Yeah, the whole team was pretty flat, for a number of reasons, but the Pitt game wasn't the first game Rosier was flat. It was just the first game that several others were as well, and they couldn't bail him out. You see, that's why we need a leader at the position. A real leader at QB can help lift the team out of a funk by either playing well, or by being their biggest cheerleader. Rosier isn't that guy.

I think we are handcuffing ourselves into two arguments. One pro-Malik, one anti-malik.

Meanwhile, we have a suspect offensive line and a not very deep defensive line. Teams can overcome poor team play with great QBs and poor QB play but great team play.

That being said, we aren’t there YET. Regardless (and I hope I eat these words), our team needs a few more pieces. We won’t win a ship in 2018. We were DECIMATED roster-wise by Folden. I think therefore, we should build for the future. Start the freshman. Teams that have succeeded with true freshmen QBs with recent success were both great TEAMS with seriously loaded rosters and depth. Bama reloaded again and UGA will more than likely go through a “sophomore slump”.

They brought the SAM on a run-blitz, but left 6 guys in coverage. The closest safety is 7 yards off the line playing the slot receiver. If this is what you call selling out to stop the run and force a throw, you're a **** fool. It's the exact opposite. The play is an RPO. The safety is leveraging the slot bubble, so we check it to a run and only manage to get about 2 feet.

On a traditionally obvious run down, Pitt isn't playing to take away the run. They're aligned to take away the short pass because they've been having no problems stopping our running backs with the front four. The game plan Pitt used all day long was not to take away the run, but to take away the short, easy passes and force Rosier to throw into tight windows of a 6 and 7 man zone.

We will agree to disagree. Clearly you want Williams or Perry and I want whoever the best guy is. That said, I am not willing to sacrifice a season and go 7-5/8-4 just to get a Freshmen experience if he clearly isn't the better option. Richt must agree with me because he is practically begging one of them to step up and clearly they have not.

With Malik's experience and with the favorable schedule, we know at worst he can get us to the ACC Coastal title, anyone who says otherwise just doesn't like him and at that point its no point in discussing it.

I don't know what Richt will do. He wants his starter to know what to do in every situation, and I get that. Evan Shirreffs knew what to do as well, but Richt went with the guy that could execute it better. The guy with more natural ability. Now, Williams is a guy that appears to have far more natural ability than Rosier, but is obviously way behind because he just got here. How much room can he make up between the ears between now and September is an unknown. How badly he will will have to blow Rosier away to win the job is another unknown. If it's close, either way, Richt will start Rosier and wait for him to ***** up enough to yank him. This time, though, I think when he's yanked, Williams will get far more reps than Shirreffs got. Why? Because Williams has far more ability than Rosier, while Shirreffs had less.

And this is how shltty we played as football players that day. No way you don’t get the ten inches needed if the QB just checks under center and bulls ahead quickly unless nobody on the line can get a one second push.

this is one of the better responses so far to the pro Malik anti Malik debate, to me its clear as day that Rosier is limited, but he's probably the best we got until someone can learn how to manage the game/do what Richt wants done.

You can sit here and try to make the argument all day long that if we had a QB that was way better than how Rosier played down the stretch last season we may have been able to overcome things like ranking 79th in total rushing yards per game, 115th in rushing production from non-QBs, receivers dropping balls, bending off routes, LB's taking bad angles, DBs being lost in coverage, injuries to RB1, TE1, and WR1, and **** poor officiating against our aggressive D-line. Fine. I agree with you. With a WAY better QB we could have maybe overcome those issues against a scrub like Pitt, and we probably beat Wisconsin.

Two things, though.

1. We didn't have anybody WAY better than Rosier last season, and we don't have anybody WAY better than Rosier this season. We have 3 guys who if they put in a considerable amount of work during the summer, bust their asses in the fall, and study film every waking moment have the slim possibility of making this a close QB competition whereby they may prove themselves to be only marginally better than Rosier.

2. We're not going to beat any of the NCAA's elite teams, anyway, until some of that other stuff is addressed. A good team is going to expose your flaws however well you might be able to mask them against scrubs like 4-7 Pitt.

We got an ungodly amount of turnovers last year or the 2-3 Rosier supporters would have their lips shut right now.

Also mix in a Hail Mary type throw against a mediocre GT team at home, a 50/50 game against a terrible unc team ( true Fr qb first start) , a jump ball against Fsu at the gun and a dogfight with Cuse.

My point is we had enough fortunate breaks last year to get to 10-3 , and some are blinded by that. That’s why they keep using the “ buh buh but he got us 10 wins bro”.

Majority of his yards/td’s were off of huge plays , with tons of mediocrity mixed in. It literally alternates by halves, which gets you blown out if you take away the takeaways. The definition of feast or famine.

The offense will be feast or famine, hot in cold if he starts. That’s who he is , a qb that completes in the mid 50’s. With a ton of simple throws/screens.

Ask any oc or qb guru and they’ll tell”you an inaccurate qb will always be inaccurate , accurate qbs will always be accurate”.

Mike Leach even said “the first area he looks at is accuracy , if he’s accurate I can do the rest”.

False , majority of posters had us in the 8-10 range. Because the schedule was so easy and we had talent.
