Making stuff up. As usual. Prove it. Dorsey showed up on campus in July. He was a true freshman. Butch was desperate. He had one foot in the grave. Kelly was the starter all the way until he was injured. I went to all the games, chief. I’ve been a fan for a while. Him starting after Kelly was injured was a huge deal because he was like the first true freshman starter QB for UM in like 30 years.

This is how it was. Kelly was very inconsistent, and I didn’t think he was playing that great, I was ready for a change myself, Butch still wouldn’t put Dorsey in until Kelly got the knee injury.

Butch had named Kelly the starter in spring, because until Dorsey arrived the only other QB on the roster was Zach Hart. When Dorsey got here, he lit it up right away, in practice. Butch had already named Kelly the starter, and Dorsey was fresh out of high school, so there was little chance of Davis changing his mind.

I am sure I am not the only one that remembers Dorsey doing extremely well in practice.

Trust me, I get why he started Kelly. I am also sure Davis was the happiest man alive when Dorsey started those last three games and the O set the record for most points in 3 consecutive games.

So 48% passing with 0 TDs and 4INTs is Dorsey stepping up and putting us in position to eek out a close game against Boston College, but Malik with 48% passing, 376 yards, 3 TDs, and 1 pick is him almost single handily losing a close game at UNC because...reasons?

You mention the stats but you dont mention dorsey driving us downfield for the go ahead score, you mention maliks he should have those stats against that crap team, we had what 4 turnovers that game and he only scored on one of them, see you stat watch and dont watch the games, go back and watch those games the whole games not the highlights and see all the chances we had and he missed them

This is the point where the false logic that has been built upon a false narrative falls apart. We either beat some very good teams despite Rosier, or we lost to 3 teams, including a pitiful Pitt team, because of him. NOT BOTH.

In 2001, we had three games you might consider close:

FSU, close until Ed "I'm Hurt Dawg" Reed rallied the troops
Boston College, a game in severe jeopardy until Ed Reed strips the ball from one of our own players for a TD return
Virginia Tech, a 2nd half rally by the Hokies came up just a bit short

In those three games, Ken Dorsey was 51%, 48%, and 47% with 4 TDs and 4 INTs. We won those games despite poor play from the QB, and that was the greatest college football team ever fielded. Good players, and even great players turn in sub-per performances from time to time. Good TEAMS overcome them.

Flawed logic. It can absolutely be both. When your QB is consistently inaccurate but the rest of the team has the talent we had last year, they'll usually be able to overcome the QB play & win the game. Not always. It happened last year - 10 out of 13 times.

I’ve watched every Miami Hurricanes game since 1983, including the 2001 game against Boston College. Ken Dorsey didn’t do a **** thing in that ball game but throw 4 picks and hand the ball off to Clinton Portis. Todd Seivers’s leg gave us a 3-0 lead and we never trailed. He added 3 more FGs to give us a 12-7 lead, but with about 40 seconds to go Boston College has 1st and Goal from our 9. Rumph deflected a pass to Matt Walters who was then stripped by Ed Reed who then scored the only Miami TD of the game.

Don’t talk to me or anybody else about watching games or reading stats if you think Ken Dorsey led some kind of magical game winning drive against Boston College. He threw 4 pick and **** near lost the game on his own. The defense won that game.

Again you throw out stats and not what happened in the game, but lets go by the stats you posted, 44% that is crap for a QB on a top team, crap to a point where richt benched him, right then and there your argument about it not being maliks fault the most should be shut down

Football Outsiders: College stats don't lie

Rosier's completion percentage last year was about 54%. That is categorically awful. The article I linked is about how completion percentage is the single best predictor of whether a college qb will have success in the NFL. There is a degree of difference between being successful in the NFL and leading a college team to a national championship. The thing they have in common is that in both scenarios, a QB is likely going to have to compete against talented defenses.

According to the statistic that has proven to be the best predictor of success- completion percentage- Rosier is a well below average qb (terrible, actually). So the fact that Miami won 10 games supports the contention that the team was winning in spite of Rosier.

Yes, but you can't expect a D to do that every week. If Dorsey threw 4 picks every game, we don't win every game. Same with Rosier. He can have an off week and we can still win if other things go right. The problem is when he's having an off week so often it makes it that much more likely that his off week will happen at the same time as someone else's on the team, making it that much harder to win a game.

I think regardless of who starts the season (Rosier is the likely guy), we will have a servicable second option for the first time in at least 10 years. Williams or Perry will step up and be breathing down Rosier's neck. No more Evan Sherriefs or Jake Heaps as the second option at QB. This we can all agree on (I think).

We had a mediocre QB. But we also had an o-line that had us placed 79th overall and 115th nationally in rushing yards per game when you eliminate runs from the QB position. We had a 21 day layoff then played 9 straight without a break. We were 10-0 and ranked #2 in the CFP. That's more success than we've seen in quite a number of years. We had officially won the Coastal for the first time ever the previous week and already had our ticket punched to Charlotte. No matter what happened in that Pitt game, all we had to do was cruise through it, take 2 week break, then play Clemson for a spot in the CFP.

The whole team took that game off. Rosier wasn't the only one just going through the motions. He's just the only one who admitted it.

He wasn’t the only one for sure, the oline was bad and i felt the defense was playing pretty soft too. Their qb was running a few of our guys over after contact. Malik’s misses down the field definitely defined that game period and it was infuriating
