Are we missing something

Last two Cinderella teams in the tournament.

But one Cinderella has a reputation of being nasty and punching you in the mouth, hard.

Mendoza experienced it last year with Cal in that huge comeback not long after an announcer gushed about their lead in the 4th saying the Miami native was showing Miami they should have recruited him. And not long before the lumber that was laid on him in the 4th quarter and he was helped off the field. Canes out scored Cal 21-3 in the 4th with a far less disciplined and talented defense that still took stupid penalties like they had all year in the 4th.

And finally, as the former spokesman for The Curse of the Orange Bowl, that has now been exorcised, it's time to resurrect The Heisman Jinx.

They are 15-0 with the Heisman winner and No. 1 pick and the most respected coach in the country. I don’t understand the confusion on this board as to why we are underdogs.

With that said we absolutely can win the game with the exact same recipe from the OSU win. Thankfully, they settle these things on the field and not with predictions.
This sums up my feelings. Indiana should be favored. But that doesn't mean we can't win.

They are box score watchers only. They beat the pants off a few teams (credit to them) and were lethal on putting them away and taking advantage of mistakes.

The canes have controlled games and found ways not to expand the lead to look more appropriate in score vs game flow. It’s probably as simple as that

No P4 coach is going to watch video of both teams to identify critical matchups. Those coaches are just going to make a pick based on recency bias around indiana's cfp wins.

They see the scoreboard for alabama and forget it's the same alabama that got handled by fsu. The same alabama that had zero offense for about 3 games until an outburst at Oklahoma. Then they see the Oregon score and don't know that Oregon was playing their 3rd string running back because of injuries. They see turnovers from Oregon but know that Dante Moore both telegraphed that pick 6 and waited to throw until well after the receiver made his break...db was already on the receiver when the throw came out. They don't know that Beck doesn't do that. That beck throws receivers open, throws before they break their route.

They ignore or just arent aware of how much wind affected offense at a&m so they say "miami can't score". They ignore details of how we dismantled Ohio state. They then see how Ole miss stayed in the game and they arent aware of the flu outbreak on the team may have affected physical and mental performance.

They aren't going to take the time to look at key games where teams got pressure on Mendoza and had physical offensive lines. They won't realize that IU has 3 losses this year if they don't get turnovers in their redzone (Iowa, penn st, ohio st).

They don't realize that miami has better trenches than all 3 of those teams. They don't respect that miami matches up well for this game.

Miami can absolutely crap the bed and play undisciplined and make big mistakes. Or miami could play focused and clean and produce the same outcome to narrative result as ohio st. "How was miami going to score?"

Ignore the noise.

It's not who they beat, it's how they beat them.

If we'd have beaten Bama and Oregon by 35+ everyone would be picking us too.

The good part is every game is different. That's why a team can give up back to back touchdown drives against Louisville to start a game and also shut out Ohio State for a half.

Of course they're the obvious pick. They're killing teams and don't make mistakes. We just had a game where we had a turnover, 10 penalties, and dropped 4 interceptions.

But guess what? If we play well, we're just as good as them. Get it done. I love us against anyone.
The thing is we wouldn’t beat those teams like that. That’s just not the type of offense we play. We kill the time and have significantly less explosive plays. The only weakness we really have, isn’t really the lack of explosive plays it’s the fact we take so much time off the clock and don’t punish the opponent enough.

It’s all about match ups, I think we match up well. I do want to see Dawson to sprinkle in some explosive plays throughout the game. Knowing him, he’s been plotting plenty of wrinkles since the beginning of the season.

Underdog? Yes. The spread this high? No. The inevitability? Bull****. Many are predicting a blowout. Nonsense.

I'm guessing most of these individuals did not watch CFP Game 1. 12:00 pm kickoff - TAMU
CFP game 2. OSU - New Years Eve.
Most probably watched the Ole Miss game, where we had multiple penalties and missed INT's and are making the assumption, based on that game, this is how we will play.

Canes will just out physical Indiana and pull away mid 3rd quarter.

Which is crazy because the better story is the U winning the National Title after 25 years in the wilderness.
A better story than last winning a championship.... NEVER?!?! If we were playing UGA, we'd have the better story, yea. But nah, they got the better "feel good story". They ain't ever won ****... ****, they've never been relevant in the sport.

Like other have said, we are prone to shooting ourselves in the foot with bad penalties and stupid antics. This is the first area we need to keep under control. We should be able to get pressure on Mendoza from the ends. Our front 7 should be able to keep the run in check.

Their defensive line is undersized but causes chaos by moving around which confuses linemen to whiff on blocking assignments. If we can counter that and control the line of scrimmage on offense, I believe our run game opens the passing game. Toney is going to initially draw help from the safety. That should open up Marion like the last game and Daniels needs to make his presence felt. Also need to not drop the football when it hits our hands (thinking of the drop by Bauman last game).

They will be tackling us at contact. We will need to fight for every inch. But we are the more talented team with better coaches. And playing at home, so the mental preparation should be there. We handle this like a business trip, we will be celebrating #6!

Our issue is not getting sloppy…penalties david I gonoffsides once a game blay…false start cooper at times … weird play calling from dawson..etc..lets play the way we did against T A/M ohio taint we can win this

This is understandable, but in order to limit our run game, they're going to have to commit numbers to the box. If they do that, CJ and Malachi can do damage on the short to intermediate stuff, especially on the perimeter

If they choose to go single high or play zero, that's when our speed advantages can take hold
When have we taken advantage of a defense with speed? Indiana's defense thrives on defending shorter-to-intermediate routes. Its not an ideal matchup and will more than likely look similar to the OSU game.

My guess is Coop had the flu. We ran off 88 but there were times he was definitely fatigued.
