The better defenses can make adjustments in their style of play. When we cant pressure the qb effectively with how our offense was it was an L period. If you dont believe me ask Pitt, Duke,Virginia, etc etc. Honestly it's the only reason these semenhole games been close either. Dont make me go Dennis green here. Theres a reason we struggled against the better teams. But I'm gonna shut up now. I'm gonna finish up by saying I REALLY think feeley is gonna be a YUGE difference on this team and how we will be able to compete on a larger scale.Agree with all this. No doubt about it. And for sure, the kids get credit too. I’m just saying, money talks. The results speak for themselves. I agree completely that his defense has vulnerabilities if he can’t get pressure. Any hyper-aggressive defense does and will.
And his defense and philosophy makes me pull my hair out at times. But you really can’t argue with the product he’s put on the field overall so far through 3 years.
Did you just say Ed Reed wasn't that Athletic??.....C'mon man....Being athletic doesn't mean you'll be where you're supposed to be. Ed Reed wasn't the most athletic guy but you'd be hard pressed to find someone as smart as him on the field.
I hope the young guys can't put it all together similarly to Redwine. Took him sometime but after a season or 2, he became a dude for us
I wouldnt say a gaurentee but I'd say most likely. At worst a game out. That would be a let down but until I see the oline hold up I cant quite gaurentee it.Not possible for Miami to finish 3rd in the Coastal this season... winning the Coastal is a guarantee.
Redwine and JJ were smart players that made up for speed or fluidity with intelligence. I think the crop we have are exponentially more athletic and built, so that alone should cover up mistakes of experience by about 80%. Within Manny's defense plays are simpler so I don't see much of a drop. Plus we have a junior in Carter, a sophomore in Hall and a senior in Finley as he rotates to and from Striker. So its not like we are rolling out true freshmen with no experience within the system.
Reed was a FB..BB & Track Standout in HS....Being athletic doesn't mean you'll be where you're supposed to be. Ed Reed wasn't the most athletic guy but you'd be hard pressed to find someone as smart as him on the field.

Watch out for uncGT is doing a **** of a rebrand. Probably second best this off season behind TNM. I see them as the only real competition in the coastal for the years to come.
Why?Watch out for unc
It's possible but I personally don't buy the UNC hype. I think Brown is a few years too late.Watch out for unc
Only you could say taking Gerald Willis, Joe Jackson, Sheldrick Redwine, and Jaquan Johnson off a defense that was national championship good would make it better the following year.
There is a 0.0% chance the defense will be better this year. None. Especially early in the season. Stick to Xbox...you'll never replace the leadership and intelligence of Jaquan Johnson on the back end, and no one on this roster is close to as good as Willis was last year in the middle. The defense will still be very good....Manny's scheme puts a ton of pressure on you using speed, and this defense will be fast as ****. But best we've had in a decade is super retarded.

This anonymous coach knows his stuff

I agree.. and the crazy thing is, that the true freshman at safety is the biggest stud of them all.Even with the losses of the dbs, we still have a talented secondary. Plus the defensive coaches especially the dbs have built up enough of a track record in the last 3 years to know they will have their guys ready plus they will be playing behind a great dline once again with our scheme with perhaps better pass rushing overall and just a very strong front 7 in general
According to tate the reason he was struggling had nothing to do with being under center. It's because he has adhd and he was taking his meds. Last week of practice he decided NOT to take meds.............
Offensive system(former ole miss oc) and Mack Brown a proven winner who will recruit at unc better than the previous coachesWhy?
I agree he will be a stud but Gurvan, Bolden and Carter are all future NFL picks. Gurvan being the one with the most potential.I agree.. and the crazy thing is, that the true freshman at safety is the biggest stud of them all.
But can he hit a curveball?Reed was a FB..BB & Track Standout in HS....
In FB he not only was a DB...but PR and KO return specialist...In Track he was part of his HS 4×100 Relay team...and was a State Champion Javelin Thrower...At UM not only was he a 2 time AA DB...but was an excellent Triple Jumper and Javelin Thrower on the UM Track team....Hope thats Athletic enough....
I was half joking about the coach knowing his stuff. For all I know the writer of the piece wrote that.No offense, but what does this "anonymous coach" really know about Jarren Williams or Tate Martell?
Sure, he saw N'Kosi Perry suck it up at times last year—but what has he seen on Williams, while anything he knows about Martell is nothing more than he's read or saw regarding high school film.
To say it's Martell's job to lose is a stretch at this point. Yes, the kid has moxie and work ethic—but he's not vastly superior to Williams, or even Perry at this rate.
