Al Golden as a man

Golden is clearly grieving in this process as well. He has multiple roles as a coach, but also grieves as a man and a mentor. As a person, who views the players as his family. As a person who watched JoJo grieve the loss of his own son, grow into a vocal leader on the team and as a young man about to turn 25 trying to keep his NFL dream alive and care for a young family.

There are lessons to be learned about life, and the perspective gained from loss and tragic events.

It is clear that some can't separate the football coach from the man. That is sad, and I'm not sure what is more depressing, the events of the last 72 hours or that fans of the program and people who consider themselves part of the extended U Family actually act this way.

From reports Golden has spent a significant amount of time at the hospital the last few days with one Cane down and one out, and some of you ***** act like this about football.

RIP #29. Our thought are with you and yours!

Get well soon Hunter!

People are using this to prop him up as a coach as well

Agreed 100% that the only thing that should be viewed in this situation is JoJo's tragedy and Al's support of their family and Miami Football, but its being used both ways. Pro Al and Anti-Al

Like many posters, I truly like Golden and I really want him to succeed here at Miami. Gotta win those big games.

I get that you can obviously judge people professionally independently of personally. That said, if Al wasn't there last night or you heard anything negative personally about him there would be wayyyyy more people tearing him down and attaching it to his actual coaching performance than are now supposedly trying to prop him up.

Most people want less talking & more results. Pointing out that he is a good man doesn't change that.

99% of athletics coaches in America would do the same thing. Is it a great gesture, sure it is, but ******* idiots around here think it gives him some kind of pass for being completely deficient as a coach. You know who else cares about their kids, 3rd grade teachers.

Oh, and since most of you think Al Golden is some sort of saint, how do you explain his going dark and basically lying about the Penn State interview? The truth is if Golden HADN'T been at the hospital at JoJo's bedside, it would be more indicative of his character than if he had.

And its ok because those people are propping him up as a "good person". No one said it makes him a better coach, what was said was that when we see him show such love for his players (jo jo, Malcolm, Hunter) It helps make you root for him to be successful. I think we can all agree that we would love nothing more than to have a great coach, and a great person as a coach. Like no matter how much you win, I can say I would not want Urban as my coach. I just dont like the guy. I like Al for the person he has shown us he is as the coach. I like his structure, I like how he gives us great access as fans, he recruits hard, he tries to connect to the community. Now, as long as he continues winning a lot more than he loses I will stand by him. This instance just shows he is a good person, nothing more nothing less....

To anyone who is taking shots, you sir are a fuggin idiot!

RIP jo jo, and prayers to Hunter!

Wow its sad that people here can even ruin this thread. This thread is about Token meeting Golden after the passing of Jojo.

Not the terrible Defense or not winning big games

RIP Jojo

It's a Miami thing, not just a Golden thing...

Impressive that the statement by the OP encouraged you to write this!

Douchery knows no bounds

I dont know you.. I dont read your posts, Im guessing you're one of the "big dawgs" of this board but I dont give a flying f*** who you are, Im going to post what I want. With that being said...

"It's a Canes thing, you wouldn't understand" hasn't been a mantra of this football program for no reason..

Nowhere in this world could you fill an 85 man roster like you can in one city (even though we dont limit ourselves to that)...

When these kids leave UM, they go 10-20 miles away to there homes.. ANY coach that coached at UM HAS to be deeply rooted in the community.
You're just being a big PUNANYCANE.. this wasn't to discredit Golden in anyway.. but as the coach at UM you will be a part of the FAMILY... this program is like no other in the world in regards to the closeness and family atmosphere...

You punks get hard over him giving kids hugs and crying and any time he says "They fought there tails off".. I dont. It's been like this before, during and will be like this after Golden leaves! Everyone of our past coaches were just as involved in tragic situations, From Blades, to Pata, To Lovon Ponder being shot in the butt etc..

Kudos to Golden for showing up to a hospital 5-10 miles away... but what Miami coach wouldn't?

Carry on chump... R.I.P Jojo Nicolas... #CaneFAM

P.s.

I also think this token cane cat is Chris Freet. Golden never saw a camera he didn't like.

Who gives a **** if he is a goid coach or not this thread is about golden the man, if you want to bash him as a coach there is the other board for that

RIP JoJo

Seriously, I havent seen him NOT put on an oscar performance ever!

****, he should win one for ACTING like a good coach cause he got these dudes fooled!

If he was such a good man he wouldn't be making us look like fools week in and week out by keeping his best friend.

Miss me with that "he's a good man" talk .. he's still the same dude that flat out lied in his Penn State interviews.

Funny how quick we forget.
