A note on Landon Ibieta

He's white. People won't admit it, and honestly it might even be subconscious, I'm not sure. And this isn't race-baiting, none of that bull****. I can't stand people who talk color. Can the kid play or not? But in this situation, i GUARANTEE you if this kid was black and had the same film, same measurables, same offers, LSU interest, Bootleggers, pedigree, etc...….he'd be a take on this board.

Just check the comps. The kid committed 45 mins ago and he's been compared to every white WR who has ever played. It is what it is. He's a ******* take, period. Will he bust or pan out? I have no idea. Neither does anyone else. But the kid can play. Sign him up.

This. I didn’t want to bring it up but I think you’re spot on. And I’m black so I’m not caping for him bc he’s white. Can he play? Highlights says he can and measurables are where you would want them, maybe even beyond that at this stage.

I couldn’t care less about race when it comes to sports. Can you get the job done on the field or court? If so then let’s rock, if not then kick rocks. Idc if you’re turquoise. I do think it seeps into some people’s framing of athletes, which like you said could even be subconsciously, but it’s 2021 and we need to move past that.

If they never offered what are you taking? You make it sound like he had big time SEC offers and we took him from them, but that did not happen
Bro, fvck the offers. You guys are star ranking, offer sheet whores. It's about the evals. Look at this kid, and I mean really look at him. His measurables, his route running, his grit, his ability to get YAC, his ability to break tackles.

There's a guy on our team who was ranked waaay higher and had a &hit ton of offers, but can't carry this kid's chest pads.

I guarantee you this will be a follow the herd situation. Once LSU and others see that he committed to us and they really take a close look at him, I promise you they will be coming after him hard.

And dude hooped in college. When the Jags picked him at #18, I remembered what my bro told me. Fastest mutha on the field at 6'6" 240. Kids, just say no to drugs...

Yep - he hooped for the Bball team. One of the GOAT athletes ever to play.

just for sh1s and giggles, I just went down the Matt white YouTube highlights rabbit hole. Lol

Don ran a 4.32. You don't come out of d-2 Chadron St in middle of nowhere Nebraska and get n invite to the pros running a 4.5
When I saw that, I was like uhhhh, I remember Beebe being a 4.2 guy in the league. Easily in the top 10 fastest NFL dudes during his prime. But back to Ibieta. If he's a laser 4.5 guy with over a year before his first fall camp, you'd like to think Feeley can shave at least a tenth off his time. I hope he can and then some. The **** eating and backtracking will be monumental if he becomes a 4.3 guy here...

I like his tape a lot. He ran a lot of different routes and used good leverage to create seperation. He is not just running a slant/veritacal/post like most hs tapes. I saw good stacking on his route and really putting dbs in tough spots. For hs, it looked good. He has speed and if his testing numbers are legit, it’s great measurables for an incoming guy. Also, his hands look good. Not only high points, but uses is hands on over the shoulder throws and passes right at him. Those are great pluses. If the work ethic, measurables, and tape all go well together, this kid can be a great take. Idk the sceiling because most kids it’s hard to project. But I like the take and certainly think he can be a player for us. Idc about ratings, Keyshawn was the 112 wr or something, and may be the best on our roster when he is done with college.
Post more.

Hey can everybody calm tf down? We’re not even done at WR. We’re taking one of Horton or Gibson. Hopefully it’s Gibson but we are definitely taking one more. ITU has said it multiple time and the one thing that site is usually spot on about is how many spots are being dished out.

Thank you, master of calm 🙏🏼

This is a **** good post. I love this take and think he will be a baller here. This black vs white thing is exactly stereotype and frankly we have taken mostly black wr in the past 5 years many who have not panned out. Take the best numbers and let it roll.

Gibson Bond Horton to go with Lee. I would only take 2 WRs this cycle and this kid wouldn't be one of them at this point. Idc what his 40 is his tape isn't special to me.

Jeff Thomas was nasty he was just an idiot. Richard's was also a monster n you saw it on tape. This guy doesn't pop to me and idc about ratings. Look at Smiths tape tell me he isn't better and he had a similar rating.

Anyways alot of you are blind and if we drop this kid the same ppl will say he wasn't that good anyways.
I like his tape. Not a 5* pop but does a lot of things well. Will be a contributor, could surprise, low risk.

Appreciate your response. Here for the discussion.

Go watch db’s when he gets on them , their hips open up most times. That tells you hes fast and also has really good routes. His forty time with that explosive vertical to go with that route running is a combo you rarely see. He also plays physical as ****, he’s breaking tackles most times when one on one. Not sure what’s not to like.
I’m with you on this one.

Definitely agree with you 100% and you know what I am. I'm sure if he looked like me, there'd be much less objection. The offer sheet would be explained away and most detractors would be raving about the underrated dawg we stole outta talent-rich Louisiana. I know a cat from LA that looked like me that we signed a while ago, his name was Ed Something, last name escapes me, 2 star that nobody wanted. I know circumstances were different but I don't remember hearing an uproar like this. I never heard of a kid from there have his competition questioned on this board. He's the first and what's really wild is that it ain't happen until he fuccin' COMMITTED. Everyone who knows a little something about football knows that the Bayou State is one of the most talented football areas in America, HANDS DOWN. Big cities, small towns, every corner of that state produces DUDES. Coincidence that Ibieta was the first??? Me thinks not. Is he gonna be an all-timer like that 2-Star dude? Not likely, but I'm gonna give him every chance to prove himself. A hard worker like they say he is, equipped with the athletic tools at his disposal won't bust(barring injuries)...

Serious question what class of football did Ibeita play? Also if this film is so "conclusive" of his elite talents that all the "experts" here can see it why have the SEC big dogs not offered??

He does look good in those clips, but who are those DBs he is dusting, tbh some of them looked terrible. He did flash speed and nice cuts on most routes. I just don't believe we found him in the heart of SEC country without them knowing but I suppose it is possible. Let's see what his sheet looks like after next season and if he sticks should it become heavy with big time programs.
Kids like this pop up every year. White WRs aren’t supposed to run a 4.5/4.0/37” vertical. His numbers just came this year. LSU has other top kids they’re on. There’s no second top program in LA. Alabama has their pick of other top kids. Many of his strengths you have to pay attention to notice. Plenty of buzz that he’s rising on lists. Did well in 7 on 7. We’ll see. No one is contending he’s a top 5 kid in the country. That’s setting up a silly strawman. He’s a qualified prospect athletically, has nice film, seems like a solid take. IMO.

Heck, I don’t always like our evals, as is known. I haven’t watched all his film. Reserve right to change my mind. But from what I know now, seems like a take.

I know I’d take this kid over half the room right now. But I’m not sure how much that really says lol

Did you watch his Jr year tape. its like 10 min of him destroying dudes . I mean were talking about a 16 year old who's only going to get much better. In the video he does everything a wr is suppose to do. Jmo but im very glad we nabbed him. He probably winds up 6'1 and 195 when he walks on campus.
