duke johnson wore the sebastian ibis during his state title run at miami norland.

this sus dt had his family in cane colors when he picked ou... got beat out by his hs roommate who was recruited to ou as a +1.....and entered thje transfer portal...cut the sh*t dont compare this dude to Duke Johnosn
Enlightened me, what does his family wanting him at UM have to do with his desire to go to OU and following through on it?? Doesn’t this prove my point? Especially when his family didn’t want him at OU because they wanted him out of the area (and/or bags which he was getting bigger offers outside of OU). How many local kids have their family pushing them away from UM because of the same reason(s) and when they chose to go elsewhere we call Bull**** on them??

As for the bolded, don’t do this. You know football and you know that Jackson is a 0-1T and Stone is an 3T. Jackson played ahead of him because they were thin at NT while they were deep at 3T with a returning NFL prospect as well as other solid veterans in that room.

In any event, that’s irrelevant to why he entered the portal. Again he entered the portal AFTER OU reneg on their end of the deal and violated that loyalty he had shown them (remember he had already gone there for less money..allegedly). This kid did exactly what we demand of our local stars the only difference is he’s doing it for OU!!!

I’m sure the Miami media is super trustworthy and they’ve been right every single year on Cristobal. Just like how the dudes you tug nuts on and hang onto their every word said defense was fine last year, CB’s were not to worry about, the DL was elite, the staff loves Emory, Wes and Kiko were savages, LB room was all good, etc. 2023 it was that TVD has turned the corner, the WR room was deep. 2022 was the all star staff we assembled, we’re going to win immediately, we killed the portal. Here we go all over again with guys that didn’t do jack last year.

You and @canecrazy23 are definitely early front-runners for top 10 slurpers in 2025, the list is narrowing down each year as people come to their senses but man, there’s some awesome candidates on this board. Great material and it gives me a good chuckle in the short-term.

Do you guys ever listen to yourselves or go back and see what people said/why you believed in those takes?

The lack of self-awareness in general is amazing. I mean if you want to admittedly stick your head in the sand and be a fanboy, that’s totally fine and I won’t be malicious. But to attack respected posters for more trustworthy takes while instead hanging onto every word of the pomp and circumstance you’d rather hear to make yourself feel better about the situation is WILD to me.

Only at the U.

I think we as fans have to recalibrate.
I love stars just as much as everyone else. But a freshman all American has way less red flags and proven production than stone.
You guys really think that Venables who’s produced and evaluated multiple first round dlineman was really gonna offer less money to an elite dlineman??
Stone is a "weird cat" per a very reliable source. Might not want the issues that brings.

I didn't know Mack was weird!! One of my all-time favorites.

Not many are Winslow weird but maybe meet it half way
Not weird just an alcoholic. I guess that meant he acted weird sometimes, but that was the root cause.

You're missing the ENTIRE point of my original post.

Guys are overrated alot. Guys are underrated alot.

It's up to coaches to be able to do their own evals and find the good players.

The completely objective label of being a 5-star is to indicate to the world that a player is capable of being an instant impact freshman. It's not based on their development potential. That's what 4, 3, and 2 stars are for.
You don't seem to understand that when freshman play has a lot to do with their position. Very few DL and OL freshman starters no matter how many stars they have

You don't seem to understand the purpose of the Star Rating system.

Love how posters who have the slightest idea of what led Stone to the portal continue to push the false narrative that Stone entered the portal just to get a bigger bag and will continue to do so becoming a headache.

NEWS FLASH IT WAS OU WHO CUT HIS DEAL AND RENEGOTIATED IT!

They’re the ones who got cute, trying to take advantage of his loyalty to OU and almost FAFO’d!!!

Now maybe in the future he does try to use the portal as leverage or maybe he never lives up to his current NIL deal but that’s NOT what happened now.

Truth is he’s not coming here so IDGAF about him but the Funny thing is Stone is a local OKC kid who grew up dreaming up playing for OU and according to our most trusted insiders took less money to go there than he could’ve gotten here and elsewhere. He’s basically their Duke Johnson. Isn’t that the standard that we want to apply to our local kids????

As someone who went to school with Duke, he is 100% not Duke.

You don't seem to understand the purpose of the Star Rating system.
The star system is a projection. It projects high school kids draftability. There are 32 five star kids because they are considered to likely be 1st round draft picks when they become draft eligible. It has absolutely nothing to do with any expected impact as a freshman, sophomore and so on. Shemar Stewart is actually the perfect example. He was a five star kid in high school. He accomplished a lot of nothing in college (4.5 sacks over 3 years), yet was still drafted in the first round; largely because of measurables and potential, not because of onfield production.

That is the entire star system. There is no "purpose" to it other than to provide a somewhat educated guss as to where the high school kid will likely be drafted....AFTER college.

I think he’s gonna have a good year. Mfers just loaded at WR

Meanwhile we gotta beg guys that plateaued to come back
Yea crazy man we about to trot out something ugly man.

Crazy when you watch the draft that we got much closer for guys but still didn’t get them. Got to go crazy on OL and DL, I’m expecting a down year or similar year without CW. Especially with no one scary at wr. This UM and we still can’t get a phenom at wr
