From talking to sources, the staff feels they are close to locking up Valentine, Kelly and Gage - if, of course, they make that press to get him into the class while he’s on campus this weekend.

Both Valentine and Kelly’s camps have given the LSU staff very positive vibes recently and they feel like if the visits go well, then good news should follow - whether while they are on campus this weekend or closer to NSD.

I think it's totally plausible that they feel this way, but this is the same LSU guy that was assuring their board that Noil, Willis, and Tony Brown were locked up to LSU up to their announcements on national TV.

I do not know what program this is but my guess is they have not won a national championship and play in a weak conference.

They have not won a national championship and they don't play in a weak conference. The team is Stanford and they are now an elite program. They made 4 straight BCS bowls and have done it under two different coaches. They average 11.5 wins over the last 4 years, they are now an elite program.

Here are two other schools

Program Y

2014: 13th Ranked Class

2013: 16th Ranked Class

2012: 3rd Ranked Class

2011: 5th Ranked Class

2010: 2nd Ranked Class

AVG Ranking: 8th

2010-2014 W/L:30-21 (18-17) and Zero BCS Bowls

Program Z

2014: 24th Ranked Class

2013: 26th Ranked Class

2012: 18th Ranked Class

2011: 14th Ranked Class

2010: 22nd Ranked Class

AVG Ranking: 21st

2010-2014 W/L: 47-6 (32-4), 3 BCS Bowls, 1 NC Game and 2 BCS Wins.

Y=Miami??
Z=Oregon??

I think the coaches knw something on Valentine, hence Pete saying the staffg is on Galliard very hard...if we get him to visit next weekend with Valentine and show them extreme love, We get both! But 2 things have to happen along the way....TV doesn't commit or silent commit on his visit to LSU and Galliard doesn't solidify his commitment to UGA on there in-home visit...gets go Al and company, get it done!

But we are not approaching pre-elite level, given the DT misses in the prior recruiting cycles. Is there even the slightest inkling that Moore, King, Hamilton, and whoever else coming up will be serviceable? It looks pretty weak in terms of talent.

That is partially why but I guarantee if the coaching was better (especially on the DL) than the results would be better. I do believe that in 2013 we could have got more out of Porter, Robinson and Chick if they were use properly and we played towards our strengths on defense.

In terms of making a greater impact, I think the coaching and development (i.e. maximizing the talent/performance out of the player) is much more important than the talent.

Now I am not saying if Jim Harbaugh was coaching the Special Olympic All-Stars against Al Golden and Miami, he would win.

Look at Jim Harbaugh and the 49ers.

2010: 6-10

2011: 13-3

QB: Alex Smith (Remember Kape was the backup)
RB: Frank Gore
OL: 6/7 Players were the same (key difference is Jonathan Goodwin)
TE: V. Davis and D. Walker
WR: Crabtree, Ginn and Williams

DL: 5/6 Players were the same (6th Player hardly played in 2011)
LB: Bowman, Willis, Brooks, Grant and Haralson we're all the same. In 2010, we had Manny Lawson and in 2011, we had Aldon Smith. Probably the most notable difference.
DB: Brock, Goldson, Smith, Spencer and Spillman were all the same. In 2010, we had Clements and in 2011 we had Carlos Rogers. In 2010 we had Reggie Smith and in 2011 we had Whitner.

K: J. Reed v. D. Akers
P: Andy Lee

There is still 12 more days until they sign on the dotted line. I am sure our camp feels TV is coming to us as well. Who knows, but we do have the last OV and I believe AG had an in home after they did so..... Let's see how this plays out. IMO, TV knows he has a golden opportunity here and will be a big time contributor from the time he steps on campus. Plus he will be right in his backyard in front of his family.

LSU just thought that they were landing Tony Brown, Speedy Noil, Gerald Willis as well.

I gave you some rep for this.

Pete, I love your updates and I know you work hard but for you to make a bold statement that TV is LSU bound IYO and the only legit reason you have to back that up is because LSU coaches say so is really silly. All you did was rustle the natives and turn this into a negative thread. Nobody knows where TV is going. LSU thought they had Noil and Willis IN THE BAG. They got neither.

I love the fact that we got the last shot at him. I fully expect for him to proclaim that LSU is his leader after he visits this weekend but I have faith in Hurlie and I think that his family will play a major factor too.

Read between the lines. He's getting this from Genron, who would have a far better idea than most where TV is headed. Nothing is certain, but the prospects of TV wearing the Cane uniform appear pretty bleak at this point.

He probably did but any clown who reads the internet or reads the newspaper can see that we have lost momentum with this kid. And we will lose more after his visit. We have the last visit and we have the infamous "mom" factor in our favor. To say he is LSU bound is jumping the gun.

Our defense sucks because we haven't had anything close to the talent that TV is.

Our defense will get better with Jenkins, Heurtelou, Moten and Wyche. Hopefully that will help us get a Valentine type player down the road. Which will help us go from 10 wins and coastal champ to elite.

Jimmy's and Joe's, not X's and O's

This class is already a disappointment when you take into account how many local ELITE players are getting away.

Losing Valentine would just pile on. The only hope Golden has is to be an ace recruiter....it's the only way to overcome the gameday coaching deficiencies both he and this staff have.

This is shaping up to be one of the most disappointing offseasons in recent memory.

This is bull**** and flawed logic. Times have changed...everyone has talent. You have to have some sort of tacticians on the staff to be able to scheme both in favor of your strengths and to hide your weaknesses.

Every Golden backer sings the same tune. It's old.....you have to look no further than Auburn for a perfect example. That squad went 3-9 the year before Gus arrived....even if they would have lost the game to Alabama how can you NOT call that season a success and cite coaching as the biggest determining factor in the overnight improvement.

I can't even type in this space how much I disagree with this absolutely flawed and inaccurate logic. You can't have a staff full of recruiters with no solid X's and O's guys on board.....when you do that you get what we saw in the bowl game. 30 days to prepare and the 18th ranked team in the country blows us out of the water.

You want to argue the disparity in talent between us and Louisville warranted a blowout loss?

You want to argue the disparity in talent between us Duke warranted a double digit loss?

You want to argue the disparity in talent between us and VT warranted a double digit loss?

And finally....want to argue that Wake Forest matches us in talent?

I don't mean to attack you personally dude...but this Jimmy/Joes retarded statement needs to be retired. It's innacurate from a relative perspective...we are not DEVOID of talent...and certainly not to the point where any of the outcomes above were merited.

People seem to forget how elite our class really is. You all ***** and moan about how many elite kids got away, well look at how many elite kids we GOT.

Yearby, F5 Chad, Owens, Young, Hester, Kaaya, Berrios, K.C, and Darling are all ELITE TALENT.

I agree that losing Valentine would really sour this class a lot..But to call it a dissappointment $hits on all the guys who didnt turn there back on us and decided to suit up in the O&G. And btw, Dont tell KC, Darling, Yearby, and CThomas they are not Elite. Could this class be better? Of course, it always can be better. But its far from a dissappointment. LAST YEAR was a disappointment. We struck out on **** near EVERYBODY and if it wasnt for Stacey Coley it would have been the worst close UM has seen since 1993.

Given how incompetent our staffs seem to be in regard to X's and O's, you better be brining in 5* Jimmy's and Joe's to negate our ability to make adjustments or innovate.

We ain't.

I swear if we lose chad thomas to fsu I would lose all faith in this staff. He is one of the most important recruits for miami in the past 5 years and miami coaches still letting these other schools get visits from him....

Lulz at Golden and his ****** scheme. You can blame money, you can blame Genron, you can make all the excuses, but reality is, Golden's ****** defense and his prioritizing his relationship with D'Onofrio over the program may cost us an elite recruit at a position we need badly.
