as long as he doesn't cancel his trip here for next weekend, we still got a good chance

Another crippling blow that will cost AG his job, losing TV is as bad as it gets.

Perhaps keeping Kehoe, Jethro and the DC will hurt a lot more.

Something tells me the coaching will have a greater effect on the outcome in 2014 than a freshman DT.

U cant coach Warren Sapp to suk u just cant. TV is that good even I can coach him, beat guy kill QB simple

LOL Valentine is nowhere near Sapp-caliber as an athlete or player, and if you think playing interior DL is as simple as "beating your man" you couldn't even coach stance & alignment to the next JJ Watt. Even if Valentine was the next Sapp he wouldn't be given the chance to rush upfield under Dorito, so I'm numb whether we land these DL or not.

Take your sky is falling act to the LSU board and cry about recruiting there. SMH

Make hurlie brown DC, hire valentines favorite age..I mean coach...whatever it takes.

Class won't finish top 10

That's just a fact

So for all of u that like to throw that out there as a defense for losing locals like cook, valentine, wr trio, Powell, Michel, etc, etc... You better get as many "top 10" references in now

You're time is running out

Used to be top 3
Then top 5
Then top 7-8
Now it's top 10

Is there a point when it's not used anymore? Or do we just keep going down the line to top 13, 15, etc in order to make ourselves feel better about about the class falling apart?

He said lsu coaches are confident but he didn't say what our coaches think. I am not sold we are out of it with him

Golden is the worst. Dude cannot coach a lick, and it turns out he's a sub-par recruiter. Beyond cute binders and snazzy press conferences, what exactly does this guy do well?

Sub-par? No.

Elite, or even very good? No.

He's an average to above-average recruiter, you're crazy to think he's either elite or sub-par. Don't hate just to hate, use your brain, use facts.

this whole chad thomas visiting Bama and FSU so late in the process just seems a little fishy, if you want to take visits to see places why not do OV earlier in the process why not go to USC or Texas to see nice big cities

maybe he wants to chill w friends and party w em for a weekend on FSUs dime? i used to visit friends all the time at FSU and UF when i was in undergrad at UM.

Yes, sub-par. We're going to end up with a class ranked outside the top 10 in a year where SoFla is producing one of the most talented local crops in recent memory. In this scenario, it's a sin to miss out on all of these top local kids and end up outside the top 10. Inexcusable. Whether recruits are being paid or not, whether these kids just want to leave, it doesn't make a difference -- he's been hired to produce results, and to do that, he needs to be highly successful in hauling in the top local talent. Otherwise, we really have no shot at ever being elite again. And right now, he's proven to be mediocre when it comes to that. We're going to puke when all of these local studs become all-conference players at FSU, LSU, etc, and are high drafts picks.

I'm not saying he's doing a good job here, but you're going to extremes.

A sub-par recruiter does not get very good to elite talent from out-of-state. I don't think Al is doing the job he should be doing, but I think calling him a sub-par recruiter is asinine. Seems fairly obvious that he's average to above-average...nothing more, nothing less.

I'm so ******* done with recruiting. Between Golden ******* up and these kids being divas and $$ being thrown around, my jimmies just can't take it anymore. Wake me up after NSD.

We can't play the pay for play. That's why he is gone. Why do u think Pete said they are going hard at Gailliard?

Galliard would be huge if VT goes to L$U. Would be crazy to pull both.

Gaillard isn't half the prospect of TV and doesn't have half the mean streak either....and he's not in our own backyard! We NEED TV! I can deal with the losses of Cook, Sony, Powell, Rudolph, Lane, Clark, ...but Valentine can not be lost! I don't give a **** if they gotta pay to fix Genron's wondering eye, buy him an Escalade and a house in Gables Estates to park it in....we NEED Valentine at all costs!

Rankings aside, this is a very good class, best Miami has had in a while in my opinion. You can't tell me that there isn't enough talent in this class to win a national championship. What I mean is that if Miami stacked 2-3 more classes of this overall talent level (in those subsequent years filling positional needs obviously), it would be more than enough for a good coach to win a title.

The problem at Miami is that these players won't be put in a position to maximize their talent by this coaching staff (mainly defensively). Missing on Valentine sucks but it doesn't make this class a disaster. You want to tell me that a competent DC couldn't build a dominating defense with a defensive line of C. Thomas, Demetrius Jackson, Moten, Wyche, Heurtelou and C. Jenkins???

Sure, Miami should keep more of the elite local talent home, no doubt. But it shouldn't take a roster of "5 star" guys for a coaching staff to be able to win, especially at Miami where I think tons of "3 star" guys would be "4 stars" in any other part of the country.

My issue boils down to people labeling this recruiting class a disaster. It is very, very good, even with the misses. The real disaster is the defensive scheme some of these players will be asked to play in.

People seem to forget how elite our class really is. You all **** and moan about how many elite kids got away, well look at how many elite kids we GOT.

Yearby, F5 Chad, Owens, Young, Hester, Kaaya, Berrios, K.C, and Darling are all ELITE TALENT.

missed on our biggest need tho

Losing TV is worse than Cook or Patrick Peterson. This is the staff last year at UM book it,there is no mway they survive on the field next year. If u lining up more JAGS then local elite kids u will be sent packing eventually.

You act as if this class sucks or something.

Chad Thomas, Yearby, Hester, the O-line commits ring a bell? Or is TV the only guy that matters? I understand he is important, but our class is sick. No argument.

I like our class but what is the one position on the field that we needed to upgrade with the most urgency? Whether you think coaching or talent is the main problem, DT is the one position where our talent is downright embarrassing and missing on the top DT in the state two years in a row when they at one point committed to us is a monumental fail. TV is better than Keef but this just cant happen again. This isnt just a failure from missing out on a talent like Valentine, this is a failure from a numbers standpoint. We run a 3-4 and we would have only signed one true NT from the HS level in the last 2 years(Jenkins), think about that......
No Valentine, and we are back to playing the russian roulette game known as JUCO DT recruiting which we already know Miami isnt built to participate in because of admissions and such.
