**Yes, Chad Thomas will be at FSU this weekend. Anytime a 5-star commit visits the reigning national champs, there is a valid reason for concern, but Thomas continues to tell me he is solid to Miami, despite his visit plans. I will refer you to a quote he gave me a little over a month ago - “Nah, nah, nah. I’ll never change. I committed to Miami so that’s what I’m gonna do. I’m loyal. I might take another visit just to see other things because I’ve been in Miami for 18 years, but you know I’m locked in with Miami.”

**It is known by now that Tavon Ross will be on campus today and throughout the weekend. Miami feels that getting on him before both Georgia and Alabama has given them the upper-hand here and this weekend could go a long way to landing him.

**What I reported a few weeks ago on the junior college defensive tackles still looks to be the case (http://www.canesinsight.com/threads/61582-HUGE-news-on-the-JUCO-DT-front?highlight=JUCO+DT). Heurtelou is expected to be enrolled today or tomorrow and Wyche is still not expected to be here for Spring. Look for Wyche to stay at JUCO this semester and be here in May.

**My feeling right now on Travonte Valentine is that he will be LSU bound. LSU coaches are very confident that he will be theirs on NSD.

**I expect Miami to be a legitimate player for Lamont Gaillard down the stretch. If he follows through on his visit next weekend, things could get interesting. Miami is on him HARD.

**Darrion Owens is not officially in yet, but he is expected within the next few days. Would be a huge boost for a prospect who is sill raw and could use spring practice.

This is bull**** and flawed logic. Times have changed...everyone has talent. You have to have some sort of tacticians on the staff to be able to scheme both in favor of your strengths and to hide your weaknesses.

Every Golden backer sings the same tune. It's old.....you have to look no further than Auburn for a perfect example. That squad went 3-9 the year before Gus arrived....even if they would have lost the game to Alabama how can you NOT call that season a success and cite coaching as the biggest determining factor in the overnight improvement.

I can't even type in this space how much I disagree with this absolutely flawed and inaccurate logic. You can't have a staff full of recruiters with no solid X's and O's guys on board.....when you do that you get what we saw in the bowl game. 30 days to prepare and the 18th ranked team in the country blows us out of the water.

You want to argue the disparity in talent between us and Louisville warranted a blowout loss?

You want to argue the disparity in talent between us Duke warranted a double digit loss?

You want to argue the disparity in talent between us and VT warranted a double digit loss?

And finally....want to argue that Wake Forest matches us in talent?

I don't mean to attack you personally dude...but this Jimmy/Joes retarded statement needs to be retired. It's innacurate from a relative perspective...we are not DEVOID of talent...and certainly not to the point where any of the outcomes above were merited.

This is 100% true.

If our team was playing tough and physical football for the FULL game and we lost, I would at least believe our staff was maximizing or getting the most out of our team. The thing is we are not playing tough and physical football.

It is hard to believe that simply improving the talent will make the difference. We are likely running with the same exact staff in 2014 as we did in 2013. We now have the 2012 entering their 3rd year in the program. The two key losses are Linder and Hurns (not worried about replacing Hurns's production either).

The part in bold, I honestly don't care where the talent comes from (local or not local), I care that if we miss out on an elite local player Dixon or Rudolph that we get an elite substitute (i.e. Derrick Griffin). Now that Griffin is not qualifying, missing on the local elite talent hurts much more.

Something tells me the coaching will have a greater effect on the outcome in 2014 than a freshman DT.

Losing TV is worse than Cook or Patrick Peterson. This is the staff last year at UM book it,there is no mway they survive on the field next year. If u lining up more JAGS then local elite kids u will be sent packing eventually.

The kid is a freshman who is not enrolling early. What are you expecting right out of the gate? Are you telling me this is the difference between a good and bad defense next season?

Think everyone needs to chill the F8ck out. Weve had solid commits go on visits before. Burns and Carter went to LSU last year. Grace took trips last year. I remember when Bryan Pata went to UF on an OV, even though he was laughing about it the whole time and was rock solid.

I would honestly be shocked if CT f8cked us like that. After all he has said and done. He didnt just commit here on a whim. He seriously researched things, and loves the Music school which is very important to him. I never take ANYTHING for granted, but I dont think its panic time on Chad just because of these OVs. As he has said many times, he's never really been out of Miami much, so a few free trips just to see some other places doesnt necessarily have to mean anything.

The class does not suck and anyone who says that should be dismissed (maybe Scuba can neg them because that will teach them).

The class is very solid and we hit a lot of needs. We needed another RB after we lost Powell. The thing is there is room for improvement and I don't think this can be disproved currently. The staff has some time, land some more kids.

We will see........I hope u r right but Im being realistic. To be a BCS power u have to recruit DT and DE well. Losing Valentine is a KO blow period, he makes Chad Thomas better and other guys around him. This staff will be gone by nextseason and do not expect us 1 in the ACC title game or 2 beating FSU, if Im a betting man realistically UM will not do anything with these unbalanced classes. Funny **** is we will have a good class this year and then next year well have a JAG class while FSU cherry picks sfla kids. If we keep doing this every other year **** we will lose and if we keep letting sfla elites leave we will lose.

No they aren't yearby(if healthy is elite), chad is elite (and he's not a given), KC is elite. Kayaa maybe that's it

I agree that losing Valentine would really sour this class a lot..But to call it a dissappointment $hits on all the guys who didnt turn there back on us and decided to suit up in the O&G. And btw, Dont tell KC, Darling, Yearby, and CThomas they are not Elite. Could this class be better? Of course, it always can be better. But its far from a dissappointment. LAST YEAR was a disappointment. We struck out on **** near EVERYBODY and if it wasnt for Stacey Coley it would have been the worst close UM has seen since 1993.

This class is only ranked as high as it is cause of the quantity of players we're taking.

Let's talk quality. Quality keeps you on NC contention every year. QUALITY is actually walking out the door in the form of Sony, Cook, Lane, Valentine, and the list goes on and on. South Florida was LOADED this year and we relatively struck out. Kaaya is one of our biggest catches and he's not from South Florida.

I think it's been discussed ad nauseum already...but everything other than QB and maybe O Line needs to be dominated by what we have in our backyard. Our backyard has elite talent and we're not doing a good job of keeping it home.

It's further magnified by the fact that no matter how much you slurpers love Golden....there is simply no denying his strength is not gameplanning and gameday coaching. So for the equation to work he has to KILL IT in recruiting.
