Thanks for the neg Scuba. You got me, you put me in my place.

Hurlies relationship with TV and his family is all that's keeping Mia in this. It's gonna be really hard to get him back.

**Yes, Chad Thomas will be at FSU this weekend. Anytime a 5-star commit visits the reigning national champs, there is a valid reason for concern, but Thomas continues to tell me he is solid to Miami, despite his visit plans. I will refer you to a quote he gave me a little over a month ago - “Nah, nah, nah. I’ll never change. I committed to Miami so that’s what I’m gonna do. I’m loyal. I might take another visit just to see other things because I’ve been in Miami for 18 years, but you know I’m locked in with Miami.”

**It is known by now that Tavon Ross will be on campus today and throughout the weekend. Miami feels that getting on him before both Georgia and Alabama has given them the upper-hand here and this weekend could go a long way to landing him.

**What I reported a few weeks ago on the junior college defensive tackles still looks to be the case (http://www.canesinsight.com/threads/61582-HUGE-news-on-the-JUCO-DT-front?highlight=JUCO+DT). Heurtelou is expected to be enrolled today or tomorrow and Wyche is still not expected to be here for Spring. Look for Wyche to stay at JUCO this semester and be here in May.

**My feeling right now on Travonte Valentine is that he will be LSU bound. LSU coaches are very confident that he will be theirs on NSD.
**I expect Miami to be a legitimate player for Lamont Gaillard down the stretch. If he follows through on his visit next weekend, things could get interesting. Miami is on him HARD.

It's misses like this that will prevent us from being elite again

It is coaching that will keep Miami from being elite. Without Valentine, there is still more than enough talent coming in on the defensive line to build a top flight defense. Unfortunately, I have seen nothing from the defensive coordinator that shows he will utilize this talent properly.

I can't find the quote on here from a little while back, but Valentine was not happy with the way our defense ended the season. I remember him saying he had concerns over the type of defense we run.

I'm not surprised by this.

Again if anyone is pushing tv to LSU because of their ability to coach him up develop him into a nfl DT they are not paying attention.

Golden/Donofrio have developed elite DT at friggin Temple.

Talent analysis and development is their strong suit.

Maybe so, but coaching up high profile SoFl kids and under the radar NE kids who are out to prove themselves are two separate ball games.

Good Owens note Pete and idk why everybody is drawing conclusions that its over with Valentine, LSU has been wrong with many recruits last year (as we know) this year as we've seen and Valentine has been on campus even recently, has an in home with Golden coming and the final ov so unless everybody thinks he's an LSU lock then its just a small guess by Pete that can easily change next week

I believe its a disgrace to this staff that we can reel back this dude in knowing that they have a family member on the staff, location of the school and education that if offers, and position of need on this team. Its really telling what these recruits think of this staff, defensive scheme and coaches. Any other top school would of locked this recruit if they had these things going for them. smh

Its Both. But you can win at a high level with greattalent and mediocre coaching and vice versa. We know what we have as far as coaching so.........

this is not good news

LSU just thought that they were landing Tony Brown, Speedy Noil, Gerald Willis as well.

If all the staff tells us is "the talent isn't there", then the staff better ******* close on kids like Valentine.

Al's own words, paraphrased: we are supposed to beat LSU and Alabama in our backyard. Enough with the excuses and rationalizations and lowered expectations. Losing Valentine is a big blow and a mess that Al created for himself.

It was after the Duke atrocity IIRC.

I doubt it has anything to do with this, or academics, or anything else that comes out of his mouth. If he lands at LSU, it's because LSU is playing a game that Miami just can't afford to play right now. Sucks because losing him I believe is catastrophic. But it is what it is.

Who is the family member on this staff?

This place is gonna get nutty on NSD when Valentine makes it official to LSU, assuming we're also going to miss out on JC.

I just hope, with limited scholarships available as a result of the 9 over 3 ruling from the NCAA, that we don't scramble for Plan C and D options (not including Ross in this) and try to publicly spin it as a positive close.

What prevents us from holding Duke and VT under 90 points? Do we have to be elite to do that?

Some of you guys are way too far ahead, "elite."

I tend to agree with you on this one. I understand the desire to suddenly be elite again but I think you gotta take each situation and look at it independently. Losing Valentine to a program like LSU is npot ideal...but it's LSU and they are a top SEC program right now that also beats out schools like Alabama for guys ....

Elite is where we wanna be....but first we gotta get to REALLY GOOD...and it aint even to that level yet.

I am not saying we don't need Valentine. I am not saying I don't want Valentine.

I am just saying that before we get here ELITEville, we need to take a step into PRE-ELITEtown. Our fans seem to be a little far ahead.
